Not sure if anyone in here was trying but the SWGE AP Preview registration site went live this morning. I will be heading to Batuu on 8/21, woohoo!!

Also as a side effect from these AP Preview dates we may get an influx of new August friends

And add in the price to park at Logan $27 a day vs $10 in PVD it gets even more expensive.

We use Logan Express. $7 for the garage or one of my boys drops us off there.

I had to bring one of my boys to Logan a couple of days ago. He had a meeting in the afternoon and didnt have time to take the LE. The new passenger drop of was sooo confusing.

I will be using a Tumi backpack for my fiance's and my items this trip. This backpack seems PERFECT for in the parks!

So what do you take with you in the park?

Hi fellow educator! I am so close to back to school! I get back from my trip on the 10th and then I go back to school on the 12th for professional development. Yikes.

Yikes is right! I teach at a trimester- system college, so we're just finishing up for our six week break. So ready for vacation! Good luck rocking that professional development day!

I teach middle school and I am starting at a new school this Fall...sort of freaking out! I am so happy to be going on vacation right before!

Hi everyone!

I just bring an adidas sling style back pack that dh bought on sale somewhere. We pack cooling towels, this year the boys will have cooling headbands too, extra clothes for the youngest, ponchos, sun block, water bottles, a wallet, my phone, and I think that's it. That looks like so much now that it's all typed out and I was hoping to pack a smaller bag this trip.

What we use has changed over the years. We started going when my son was 10 months old so back then I had a backpack that could double as a diaper bag. The past few trips it's been mostly drawstring backpacks and as the children have gotten older they carry their own. They're light so they're not hot on their backs and they're easy to search at park entry. And they fit under a poncho without issue. We're down to just carrying poncho, cooling towels, handheld fans, meds, money, female items when necessary, a snack and maybe a light jacket for table service meals and our phones with a portable charger.

Last year we made a change. I switched to a backpack cooler and packed it with drinks and ice in Ziploc bags. We put my poncho and other items in my daughter's bag. There's a front pocket on the cooler for my phone. I'd hit the ice machine before we left and fill 5 or so snack-sized Ziploc bags with ice. Since we can't freeze drinks in the resort room fridges, it was great. I wish I'd switched to it sooner. I had carried drinks like that before; but not in a cooler bag so the ice didn't last long. The drinks were from our in room grocery order so everyone had exactly what they wanted to drink at any time no matter where we were and it was nice and cold. It's been so hot this summer, my son started using the bag to bring Gatorade bottles to soccer camp because it stayed cold as opposed to me filling a 64 ounce jug in the morning. So it's his now. I ordered a another one for this and future trips.

My son had a soccer camp last week. It was daily from 9 am to noon; and normally that jug has been okay; but we had some serious heat come through. We switched to the cooler bag by the 3rd day. A friend poured water on his back the first day because all I sent was Gatorade. He had a fan and a cooling towel with a water bottle from the 2nd day. In the bag I sent 80 ounces of Gatorade....4 20 ounce bottles for a 3 hour camp....for a 9 year-old. Plus he had 12 ounces on the 30 minute drive to the field. I had to hit a gas station for another on the way home. I thought he'd be spending the evenings in the bathroom; but he just ate popscicles. That was a special kind of heat. He did a 9am to 3pm camp last summer where he drank about that same amount. I sent a jug; but the camp also provided some.

We're going to stick with the bag through the season though. He liked that much better and we have switched clubs so instead of just going to the field for a weekly game, he'll be playing in festivals where they do at least two games. I'm probably going to get one of those folding wagons. Good times.

Heads up Primeval Whirl is still out until 8/3 now. I got an email from Disney they removed my FP for it and gave me Everest instead.

Its my DD fav ride so a little disappointed.

I am going on August 17th as well! That is our first full day at WDW and I can't be more excited to start the day at GE! SO EXCITED!

Count me in! August 18th to the 20th. SWGE on the 19th! ASMo.

Confession time - SWGE has been the bane of my planning world since the start. This is our first time to WDW and it is a whole new world (pun intended) compared to DLR. DLR is so easy and fast to plan. I booked our trip back in December.

I intentionally booked at the end of August for lower crowds and to avoid the opening opening SWGE (at the time it was advertised as coming late fall I think). Then they announced August 29th.
I thought to myself, "perfect, we leave on the 28th". I figure I will put my HS day at the start of our trip in case there were press days, previews, crazy people sleeping in lines... But then I couldn't get SDD FP until the 27th. So I booked HS FP at the beginning and end of our trip. The day I booked at the beginning of our trip? The 21st. Figures.
But after the way the crowds have been at DLR I am not sure what we will get and I am pretty sure we will be fine. All the signs are pointing to lower crowds than everyone expected.

Bottom line - we will have a great trip and this is just one more thing to add to my wait and see list. Thanks for reading my rant, I had to share with a group of people who get my planning bug and won't look at me like I am crazy (like my husband).
