Surprises are so much fun! My best friend and I did a scavenger hunt for our kids last year to let them know we were leaving for Disney that day! Each clue had a letter on the back that in the end spelled out D-I-S-N-E-Y! My oldest was 8 though. Not sure if this would work for your kids. No matter what it will be a great surprise!

Good morning! My family & I will be over enjoying a trip next April. We're straddling April & May so I can be an interloper in both groups. Arriving into Orlando on April 24th for a night at All-Star Music before heading to the Disney Dream for a 4-Night cruise. After leaving the cruise we have a lovely 16 nights booked at Saratoga Springs from the 29th.

I had made a note on my calendar to check SW today for flights on our prospective dates and when I just checked now it says the next batch (through June 3) will be released on October 27... ugh. We've been going back and forth about this trip and have held off booking to see what the flight prices would be and now I think we'll have to just book (and then possibly cancel, I guess :( ) because our 180 day mark would fall before the flight release date. :/

Aw. That stinks. I was too impatient to wait and check SW. Plus juding by their usual fares it would not have been much cheaper for us. When are your dates?

Tentatively 4/18-4/24. Southwest has the best times available (usually) for us for traveling and we have a small credit with them from when we changed our flights for our trip earlier this month, so we thought that would help offset the cost a bit. April airfare is just always expensive, that's a given. We'll probably go ahead and book the resort and then hope that the fares won't be so outrageous that they completely bust our budget!

I agree about airfares in April being expensive. We have never flown in April, but it seems that way to me as well. Fingers crossed for you!

OMG.. I absolutely LOVE the idea of a scavenger hunt!!! My kids would be a great age for it too.. DS 10, DS 8, and DD 4.. I just hope they wont be disappointed they will have to wait until April lol. The first time we went I surprised them the day before with balloons and a gift bag full of Disney goodies.. shirts to have autographed, magic bands etc, we had been in Florida vacationing at my MIL's condo and they thought we were heading home, afterwards I wished we went the route of just pulling up to WDW and see who notices. This time because we will be taking a long drive down from NY instead of already being in FL, i'd like for them to help with the planning process (atleast the part after December 25th) :)

Hi, so glad to have found this group, I love Disney planning!
Our dates are 4/25- 4/29 cruise on the Disney Dream
4/29-5/2 PVB (lake view)

First cruise for us we are normally at WDW for 7-8 days at the end of April, it's a great time to go and luckily it's our DS's school break week. Lots of New Englanders here and I'm one too, southern NH.
Glad to share in the planning fun with you all

That messed me up too! Our dates are 4/6-4/17 and I had it noted when SW would release their flights but then I read something here or on FB saying that people were getting their April flights, and I was like, "What??" And sure enough, when I checked our flight for the way down had already been released! GRRRRR…We were originally planning on going 4/7 but that flight was $289! Ouch! So we switched to 4/6 for $139 and booked it, and it has since gone down to $119 so I have a $20 credit for each of us that I will now be able to use for our flight home when those get released. So I guess this maybe worked better for us, all things considered. But booking the flights is stressful to me, I don't know why! I will feel better when we get our flight home booked!

199 days to go! Excited to finally be out of the 200s. (Started my countdown in the 300s.) Now it is time to get serious and figure out ADRs...

I'm right there with ya! 197 days to go! We are doing to QSDP, just for convenience of having everything taken care on in advance, so I'm not really planning on too many ADRs. Just Boma (for my birthday) and lunch at BOG. Totally hoping to be able to try out the Skipper's Cantina also but I know the rush to set that up once it's available will be wild.
