*** The Official 2014 - DLR -July Thread ***(We All Have Been There & Back Home)

Rope drop is a no-brainer for us with the time difference and I love that it gives us afternoon breaks at the pool:sunny::cool2:

Question of the Day.....

Do you and your family have to be at the park at rope drop?, or do you take it easy and get to the park at a leisurely pace.

We have always been rope drop people too. My boys were 7 and 13 on our last trip. Now they're 11 and 17, so I'm hoping we can get them up and to the parks early. You can get so many rides in during the earliest part of the day!
:yay:

We have never made rope drop. I'm not a morning person in general and trying to get my nephews and parents herded in the morning is difficult no matter what time we start. However, since CA is 3 hours behind us I am going to use that to our advantage on our first morning there and try to make Rope Drop for DCA.

Happy Kentucky Derby Day to all my July DIS friends! This is a huge even here in Louisville, KY. In case you haven't heard, the winner was California Chrome. I told my parents right before the race that I liked this horse because it's name related to our upcoming trip, and then he won! Too bad I didn't bet any money on him.

I honestly don't know if we will be Rope Drop kind of people or not. My 6 year old is a veeeery slow starter in the morning so he'll be getting nagged by his big sister for sure.

But mostly for us it all depends on how we've all settled into the time zone and recovered from the long flight. We fly into LAX on 4 July (1 hour flight, 2 hour layover, then the mammoth 12 hour flight) and Disney time is 5 hours ahead (but a day behind) us in NZ. So 7am Disney time is 2am NZ time. I have no idea how well we'll all have slotted into the time zone by the time our first Disney day rolls around, 3 days after we arrive in California. We will have to wait and see and hope for the best!

Glad to hear Bailey is doing so well. (Sorry, I've been AWOL with my kids on two weeks school vacation here.)

We do both!

We like to do one or two days of rope drop--- usually one day at each Park. We don't stress about having to do it every day of our trip!

We have fun, whichever we choose to do that particular day!:thumbsup2

quick question.
You would think after going the past 4 years(this making 5) that I would have things figured out. Well, I don't.
I hate chasing and searching 50 page threads looking for an answer to a question. ;)
So, staying on site allows you the Early entry into DCA correct? Is that every day you stay on site or only certain days? and staying on site has nothing to do with magic morning? having a three day or longer hopper is the key to magic morning?
We have done magic morning but that'a all

"Yes", staying on site allows you an EMH every day, at a specific Park:

DCA: Sun., Mon., Wed., Fri.

Disneyland: Tues., Thurs., Sat.

Your Disneyland EMH will overlap with those who have MM because of their 3 or more day Park Hopper tickets.:)

Forgive me for jumping into this issue as well. We will be offsite and have MM. So our MM day can only be used at DL, and only on Tues, Thurs, or Sat, correct? I think I remember reading that MM is not available at DCA.

We will be staying at VGC June 29-July 3rd. First time staying at a dvc resort, very excited! It's been a couple years since I've been to DLR. I've been going to Tokyo Disneyland/Sea and while it is great fun my Japanese is horrible. I'm looking forward to hearing and understanding all the attractions in English again :)

Thanks for letting me join the thread!

You are correct :)

Made our reservations for Surf's Up and BTR BBQ this morning.

I also went to the party store and bought a Mickey Mouse birthday banner. The night we get in, once DS is asleep, I am going do put the banner up and put out a birthday present from Mickey for him to open when he wakes up. I'm super excited.

Anyone know if I can pack one of those small mylar baloons on a stick in luggage? LOL

Anyway, all we have left to do is reserve a spot for our car at a parking pace near the airport. And then wait...

I just booked our character breakfast at Storytellers for July 3rd. I couldn't make the reservation online as the website wouldn't accept AP as the state for credit card info, so I had to call and make just get a confirmation number. I can't look it up online or add it to my DVC reservation. Its freaking me out a little not to have it in writing!

Also - thank you thread for talking about the photopass+. What an awesome deal! I ordered mine this morning.
