*** The Official 2014 - DLR -July Thread ***(We All Have Been There & Back Home)

Hi, everyone! I just booked a 5-years-in-the-making return trip to DLR. Very excited but apprehensive about crowds as this is our first peak season visit to any Disney park. Touring Plans listed our week as 5s and 6s, hope that is true! I have much to research...cheapest current tix, best way to see WOC, etc. Best get crackin'! :)

:welcome: Dis Family - When you get your dates and details, please share and I will update the front page with your information.. Glad you joined us..:thumbsup2

I know the food isn't spectacular, but we love the Hungry Bear! There's just something about the atmosphere and sitting by water. We always enjoy telling stories about past Disney visit while we relax in the shade.

:thanks: For sharing your experiences.... Tell us more, Tell us more...:goodvibes

First page is filling up nicely :cheer2: Wish I could work out a plan :sad2:
I missed the Sunday question but fav quick eats for dd's would be chicken nuggets :rolleyes2 & popcorn, me, Mickey ice cream sandwich :lmao: Can't wait to try a Mint Julep (I think that's what it's called?) and dd 11 says she will try a corn-dog this time.

I started packing some stuff this weekend!! I went ahead and packed our home made shirts because no one is wearing theirs until we get there and all the goodies (bubbles and glow sticks) I got for our kids to play with and hand out to other kids.....can't wait until we can start packing for real!!

The fried green tomato sandwich is on my "can't miss" list! popcorn::

Hi everyone, sorry it's been so long since I've posted. I've been lurking though and enjoying reading everyone's posts. Unfortunately, I've been too busy to make any other trip related plans. As some of you may remember, my mom suffered a stroke at the end of Feb. and I've been really busy helping her and my dad since then. I'm also in the process of selling my house and moving to my parents until I find something else. My mom's doing pretty well overall, but I'm now really nervous about traveling with just her, my dad, and my 4 nephews (ages 6-10). I'm sure it will all be fine, but things will be different (slower paced) than I originally thought in order to accommodate her needs. So glad I was able to get the 4th day free through Orbitz because we will definitely need that extra day now. I can't believe it's already April, July will be here so soon! As to this week's question: I don't have one favorite Disney food/snack but I love the pineapple Dole Whip and introduced it to 2 of my nephews last year at WDW who also now love it. One of my nephews also loves the Mickey head soft pretzel because he's addicted to pretzels in general, lol. And my oldest nephew always has to have the Mickey ice cream bar during a trip. This trip I plan to try the Fried Green Tomato sandwich at Hungry Bear.

ETA: Forgot to thank Bob for his hard work on maintaining this thread! I really enjoy this thread. Everyone's Disney enthusiasm is much appreciated after my long days.

Glad your Mom is doing better. DD and I have been thinking of her, did not want to post a single post asking until you posted an update.. (If that makes sense) :thumbsup2

I am sure your family will have a super time together.. Caring for and helping a family member or friend while at Disney will make the visit that much more special. :goodvibes

Your snack choices are right on, can't wait to get to Disney to EAT!!!! oh and to ride rides.. :lmao:

Thanks, enjoying keeping up with the thread and visiting with everyone... Hope I don't get to annoying.. :rotfl2:

I forgot to save a page under the places to eat for the picture of the week. Maybe I can fit it in on the same page.

Have a great week...:)

:bday: Issac

Today is Issac's 24th Birthday... He has been with us since he was 5 months old. I adopted him from the Fort Worth Animal Shelter .

Issac has been a joy to us. We love him so much, he is spoiled and very, very independent. He lost the muscle in his right ear about 9 years ago and was diagnosed with Glaucoma about the same time. But he is health...:thumbsup2

Happy birthday, Isaac!

We have a kitty turning 18 in October so I love to see a senior citizen doing well. Mookie is starting to slow down quite a bit now and always wants my lap for a nap. He sits on the floor of the couch and meows until I sit down for him, LOL.

Thanks for the welcome.

We are reserved the at Hojo right now 7/20-7/25 but I am considering booking DLH for the last night to get a couple extra EMHs (and to experience the pool).

As far as favorite DL food/snacks...churros are so much better at DL than WDW, for some reason. And, yes, the corn dogs. The Corn Dog Castle was closed last time we were there, can't wait to hit it up.

Happy birthday Issac!

We have decided to book the huge 950 sq ft suite at the Ramada Maingate July 20-24. I was really hoping to the PPH, but my dad doesn't want to pay the more expensive price. I don't blame him! That's extra money we can spend on food and souvenirs. SO EXCITED!!!!

Thanks Bob, I completely understood what you meant about not asking. Your thoughts and concern are much appreciated! And you are definitely not annoying, I absolutely love your enthusiasm!! As I said, these DIS boards are an escape for me. They're as close to Disney magic as we are going to get for now.

By the way-Will you change my hotel from PPH to Best Western Park Place Inn, we decided not to go broke over our honeymoon!

Bob, you are far from annoying! I love all your questions and prompts. It's completely testament to your enthusiasm and organisation that we have the longest-running (I think) of the 2014 planning threads. Weeeell, maybe a smidge to do with July being peak season but mostly because of you :)

Wow, happy birthday Isaac. And how lovely to hear you have a senior citizen feline too, Jen. I love hearing that. We have two beloved cats and the elder is 13 so I take great heart from hearing about other cats living to such a good age.

Welcome back, djmeredith. What a challenging time you've been having. I hope you're able to look on your Disney plans as the light at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks! Knowing my parents are really looking forward to this trip with their grandkids makes it all worthwhile.

Bob, I forgot to tell your kitty Happy Birthday earlier. Hope he's had a great birthday! We are a dog family, although neither my parents nor I have any pets right now. We just go to my sister's and visit her doggy (sweetest German Shepard I have ever met) when we need a doggy fix. I have had two golden retrievers in my adult life. Those of who are animal lovers all understand that they are more than pets, they are furry family members!

Breakfast with Minnie & Friends added to Sunday, 7/27! :woohoo:

Breakfast at Ariel's Grotto added to Thursday, 7/31 (still doing Napa Rose for dinner)! :cool1:

Sorry to go :offtopic: but I'm a photography buff and some of my planning goes into making a list of shots to capture :surfweb: Those of you who have been to DL before, what/where are your favorite picture spots? Favorite PhotoPass locations? Favorite place to get that picture of the entire family? :listen:

Thanks a bunch!

My favorite spots for photos are:

DL: In front of the castle, but off to the right side. Anywhere near rivers of america. Sword of the stone. In front of IASW. Toon town. In the tea cups. Anywhere on Main street. On the carousel. Tom Sawyer island.

DCA: Both entrances to Cars Land in daytime and night. Amazing!! In Mickey's fun wheel. The exit of RSR. BVS, statue with Walt.

Yikes! Miss a day, miss a lot around here! :goodvibes

djmeredith - Sending happy thoughts and best wishes for you and your family. My mother had a stroke about 2 1/2 years ago, and I can empathize with the struggles. Thankfully she recovered physically, but her short-term memory is really bad. I hope your Disney trip is extra special!

Bob - Happy belated bday to your Isaac! We are a cat family...four total, and our most senior is 13. I love my fur babies!
