The Official 2014 - Disneyland Resort -June Thread! Let's Plan!

June trippers unite!

I'll be there with with my family from June 17th to 21st. Booked at the GCH.

Plan to be at the parks 18-20th. I chose those dates because its Annual Passholder blackout dates. But two of those days will be Grad Nights, so who knows about crowds??

We are also going to Legoland for a few days before Disney. anyone been there recently? my kids are 3, 9 and 11.

do all the schools in the US lend the school year may 31st? I am from Canada, and our school year ends june 30th.

when does school start back up? our school starts the day after the September long weekend.

so then does that mean that disneylands super busy "summer season" is june 1 - august 31?

The starting/ending dates will vary in the USA, from state to state, county to county, city to city, and even town/rural schools in the same area. My kids attend a rural school and their calendar is different (only by a few days) from the starting/ending and vacation days of the nearest "town" schools.

This year we are done on June 6th (provided we don't use up any more snow days that we have to make up) and will probably go back the Wednesday before Labor Day.

I don't know when Disneyland's "Super Busy" season is, but I would guess that those dates are pretty close.

We will be there May 28-June 3. My kids last day of school is May 27 and they usually go back to school the 2nd week of August. We've been there several years in the beginning of June, the weather is nice usually ranging from the 50's - 70's. I do recommend a jacket at night. Last year we were there on a grad night and it got noticeably more crowded as the day progressed but wasn't terrible. We will have 3 grad nights during our trip this year, hoping they aren't bad.

Oh I am so glad this thread was started! We'll be there June 21-25th, so avoiding grad nights. We've gone in July/August before and regularly go over Thanksgiving, so I don't think the crowds will be more than we can handle. We're staying at PPH and will use EMH every day! Other than first hour plan, we are go with the flow people. We'll make reservations at BTMBBQ and CCR, but otherwise play it by ear. We like the Jazz Kitchen & Storyteller's as well.

OK I am SO annoyed!!!!! We got our taxes back (that is not the annoying part) so it is time to start booking things for our trip to Southern California in June. Purchased the airline tickets, got a killer deal (that's not the annoying part either) - $1250, round-trip, all 4 of us, includes taxes etc. (except luggage fees, curse you Alaska airlines).

Next, I attempted to purchase the Disneyland package. The nice reservations lady informs me that my bank won't allow her to put the charge through. EXCUSE ME? I know there is plenty of money available, thankyouverymuch. Turns out that after ONE charge to the airlines, 1st Interstate Bank decided that was just too suspicious and decided to put a hold on my account. On 6:03 PM. On a Friday. When their phone lines close at 6:00 PM. :furious: Heaven forbid someone purchase airline tickets, apparently!

So now, until I can get someone to un-lock the account, not only can I NOT make any more reservations, but I can't use my debit card/account for anything! Thank goodness I went to the grocery store today. Sorry for the rant, but ARRRRGH!! :furious:

Hubby and I will be there June 21-25th. Leaving the kids home this time around! We took them over Halloween last year and missed out on a ton of rides we wanted to do, so we are tacking it on to a biz trip I have in Vegas right before. We are doing DL & CA + Universal for one day since hubby has never been before.

I think it's hilarious we are going again because hubby was so dreading the trip last fall and ended up falling in love with Disney. I can't wait to do this with just us!!!

I think ending in May is a rarity. This is the only year that DD's school is ending in May. They have been shifting the school year to start a bit earlier. However, next school year, they will start a bit later and end the first week of June. Most of the schools that I know of in Northern California end 1st or 2nd week of June.

For many years our schools got out the last week of May and resumed in mid-Aug. The last two years, they've gotten out the first week of June and still go back mid-Aug. This is different from when I was in school when we got out mid- June and went back after Labor Day. This is NorCal; I believe all areas of the country are different, especially those who have to account for snow days.

Just booked a vacation for May 30th-June 4th! :yay:

We've had to postpone our Kidless Disney trip for a while, but we're finally going for our 15th anniversary. The kids will get to go in the fall, so I'm don't feel sorry for them. We're starting off the trip in the Santa Monica mountains. I got the Four Seasons in Westlake Villiage for $199 w/free valet. We'll visit King Gillette Ranch, the Reagan Museum, Malibu (El Matador Beach), and maybe the Getty(s) if we can squeeze it in before heading down to Anaheim. We'll be in the parks from the 1st-3rd. We were going to stay within walking distance, but I couldn't pass up a suite at Double Tree Suites by Hilton Anaheim (don't you love those long hotel names?) for 102/nt + tax. It is walking distance, however, from the free shuttles at the Toy Story lot.

I'm excited to learn more about June at DLR on this thread. Oh, and for the previous posters, most schools in AZ, UT, HI, and NM get out before Memorial Day. I'm not sure about any others. :thumbsup2

Yay for a June thread. We will be there June 21-28. How did you guys decide your park days? We will do either 4 or 5 days.

YAY! I got things purchased and booked!

We got our airline tickets through Alaska Air, and got a great deal! $1280 for the 4 of us. I know that seems high to some of you, but flying out of our piddley little airport up here in the boondocks always costs an arm and a leg, so that's really quite good. We leave June 7th and return June 15th.

We check in to the Anaheim Quality Inn and Suites on the 7th, and we are checking out the 11th. We are renting a car from Alamo. We have 3 park days; Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. I purchased tickets to Medieval Times as part of my package, and when I get my tickets/vouchers in the mail I am going to try to schedule our Medieval Times for the evening we arrive (our flight gets in to LAX at 10 AM).

On the 11th we check out of the Anaheim Quality Inn and Suites, and we will drive down to San Diego. We have family there and we are going to go to Sea World and the San Diego Zoo. We will probably try to spend an afternoon on the beach as well. We have reservations for a La Quinta in the Mission Bay area.

On the 14th, we will leave San Diego and drive back up to LA, stopping along the way to do whatever catches our eye. We are going to go return the car at LAX and we have a one night reservation at the Embassy Suites at the airport. They will pick us up in their courtesy shuttle after we drop off the car, and take us back the next morning to catch our flight.

I feel like I have made a lot of progress! Airline tickets bought (fully paid for), Disney package and Medieval Times reservations bought (fully paid for), Sea World (and Sea World's all-day dining package) and San Diego Zoo tickets pre-purchased (and fully paid for), and Embassy Suites reservation at the airport made (and pre-paid). The La Quinta in San Diego is reserved (but I couldn't pay for it ahead of time) and I haven't reserved the car yet (waiting to see if it gets cheaper as we get closer).

Yay for a June thread. We will be there June 21-28. How did you guys decide your park days? We will do either 4 or 5 days.

We made our decision based on a few factors. We have been to Disneyland several times before, and know that we can usually do everything we want to do in 3 days, as long as we have Park Hoppers. However, we usually don't travel in high season, so I wanted to make as much as possible out of our time there.

We had two choices: Anaheim at the beginning of our trip (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday) or the end of our trip (Thursday, Friday, Saturday). The fact that Thursday and Friday were Grad nights (maybe even Saturday - I don't remember) was the deciding factor. I know it is always going to be crowded, but I figure the crowds can't help but be less on a Monday and Tuesday then on a Grad night weekend. I could be wrong, :confused3 we'll see.

I plan on spending most of Sunday and Tuesday in Disneyland, and most of Monday in California Adventure, but we'll hop back and forth if crowds are better in one area or the other. Tuesday is Early Entry in Disneyland, so we'll definitely take advantage of that.

been booked for awhile...going to LA..June 13-14. Staying at Villas Grand Cali in a studio...June 15-21.
scored our 5 day park hoppers on orbitz with the 20% rebate..so that saved us $200.
we'll be at parks Mon-Friday. I was actively watching the boards last year...adn these are the last 3 nights of Grad Nights..and they were very mild nights...so i'm not worried at all.

I plan on breakfast in the room....and lunch on the fly with sandwhiches and maybe a park meal here and there. This trip will be all dinners out..which is getting hard to choose where and when. I'll do a WOC ariel grotto package on Wed i believe...but still not sure.

I have to make decisions in the next few weeks...

i have a dd9 and ds5 and dw. Any ideal suggestions?

Any other month I would say every Friday after work, and at least one Saturday... I will be at Disney World for the first time this June though :-)

I have two of my kiddos traveling with me (DD19 has chosen to stay behind to work full-time this summer, and possibly take a few inter-session credits at the community college). This actually presents some planning problems as both of my younger DDs have very small appetites and picky palates.

We will do breakfasts at the hotel, the Quality Inn offers a nice free breakfast - "fresh hot waffles, cereals, danish, donuts, hard boiled eggs, toast, oranges, juices, milk and coffee."

Lunches will be fairly easy too; right now I am looking at Redd Rocket's Pizza Port (the kids both like pizza and salads), Paradise Garden Grill (this one's for me, if the kids don't like it they can get a corn dog or a pretzel), and possibly going outside the parks, and maybe the Golden Horseshoe.

Dinners; I have planned The Plaza Inn for sure (HAVE to have their chicken and pasta once per trip) and Big Thunder Ranch BBQ. However, it's that final meal that I am still turning over and over in my brain - a reservation for the WOC package at one of the participating restaurants or not? Right now I am leaning towards not, simply because my kids are too old for the kids menus and there is simply not one thing they will voluntarily eat on most of those adult menus. It would be one thing if that exorbitant price got me a guaranteed view for WOC that I didn't have to be at 1-2 hours in advance WITH A SEAT. But it doesn't. As I understand it, I still have to be there way in advance, and I still have to stand, the only advantage is where I am standing. I'd almost rather go eat somewhere where the kids would enjoy their meal, and take my chances with the WOC fastpasses first thing in the morning.

My first choice for WOC, honestly, would be to find somewhere with a table or a bench where I might not have the best of views, but we could sit down. I am not sure anyone in my party is going to be enthused enough by the idea of this show, even as awesome as I am sure it is, to stand for 2 hours to hold a spot at the end of a day of busy-park-touring. This is the same reason we almost never watch parades unless we can get a spot to SIT on, and we never camp out in advance. I am having the same mental conundrum with Fantasmic - which I really want to see - and I REFUSE to pay the $60 each for that silly dessert box - but at least it includes a CHAIR. :rotfl2:

We will be there the 2-4. We are arriving Sunday evening and leaving that Thursday. We're a little worried about the 4th being a grad night but we will be taking advantage of EM entry and worse case it's our last day there so we can just take it easy that day- do parades, fireworks, etc.

It will be my wife and I and I will be taking my sister and my niece (3.5 yrs old) for her first trip. My niece is princess obsessed so we're planning on doing Ariel's Grotto (we've been before and didn't enjoy it that much, but I know she will go bonkers for it)

We're staying at Anabella in the small suite- my sister and niece want to share the daybed. We've been to DL many times, but this will be our first time taking ART which makes me a little worried for some reason but hopefully it will be okay.

Add me to the list! DH, DDs, and I are going on our third family trip in June. I'm SO excited as it's our first time as a family on-site and we're going to stay at DLH.

I'm a TOTAL planner (see my PTR from previous trips), but I like to know all my options and then "play it by ear." I don't have a hard schedule and we often do take random detours (like the time we just stopped for dinner at BTRBBQ because 2 year old DD was starving). But it helps to know exactly how experts recommend using the early morning (Peter Pan first if heading to Fantasyland!) and then we don't waste time pulling out a map trying to figure out where to go next. I also like to use the various apps (like Mousewait) to see if some areas of the park are less busy.

I'm even more excited that we'll have EMH at DCA this year. DD7 LOVES RSR. She went on it 7 times on our last trip (a 2.5 day one!) because then 3 year old DD was old enough for a FP but too young to ride so we used Child Swap and maximized our 4 FP/day.

This time, my younger DD is going to be turning 5 just 2 days before our DLR trip so she can do so much more. We haven't told the girls yet, either, so I'm trying to figure out when to tell them--the day of? The week of the trip so they can start planning?

I have already booked DLH, bought tickets and both premium and standard character meal vouchers on Orbitz (I bought early when it was just 10% cashback, so I was kicking myself for moving too early when the 20% deal was on, but still, 10% is better than no cashback!).

I'm planning to reserve a late breakfast at Surf's Up and a dinner at Goofy's. I also am debating about reserving a pool cabana at DLH since one of the days of our trip is a Grad Night. We might just push for an early rope-drop and then take a leisurely afternoon at the pool and avoid the parks the rest of the day.

We will be there starting the 11th, touring on the 12th and 13th, before heading to Aulani. I have only been once...back in 1996!!! DH and kids have never been. We are pros at WDW, so this is going to take some research. :)

Not sure which days we will spend at which park. I need to research the grad night stuff. Definitely want to hit the attractions and WOC that we don't have on this side of the country.

Bumping this up, especially since I just found out that Space Mountain will be closed in early June. UGH! That is DD7's favorite ride. I'm disappointed but now that she's tall enough for Screamin', I'm hoping that will be an excellent consolation prize.

P.S. Grizzly River Run will also be closed for most of June. I had been looking forward to trying it for the first time since June weather would be hot enough to dry off afterward without returning to the hotel. Oh well!
