~*~*~The Oct 2014 waiting patiently (or not so) for a discount thread ~*~*~

Yup, waiting to see if any other discounts appear for our travel dates. We booked a week earlier than normal this year (b/c we ALWAYS booked the exception to free dining week in Oct.), but still missed out. :eeyore: Oh well.

I'm still a pretty newbie to the world of Disney in many ways. What are bounce backs?

I'm thinking of booking through Orbitz with the 15% room discount that's on at the moment. I'm wanting POR for 13 nights from Oct 17th and am thinking that may now be as good as it gets for a discount. It's fully refundable so if Disney brings out a better discount down the line I can cancel and book that. What do we think October people?

YC is sold out the week of Oct. 26 too...and those dates got free dining :confused3...Dec. 23 check-in people also got free dining, and MK frequently hits capacity that day. There is no rhyme or reason...

I know there's a conference the week of Oct 26 at the Swan/Dolphin. Maybe some people booked their stay at the YC instead.

Disney VISA announced room only discounts too and they end on 10/3.
What do you think the chances of anything coming out for 10/4-10/25 visits?
This is our first non-DVC trip since out very first visit. I am starting to regret selling my DVC.

It looks like these are the dates as per DIS updates email for FD.
August 31 - October 3, 2014
October 26 - November 1, 2014
November 9 - November 20, 2014
December 12 - December 23, 2014

Hope they extend the room discount too for all you who need it. My dates are Sept 29-Oct 3 so it works for me either way.

My dates don't "fall" into the free dining dates so I'm holding out for a room discount...who's with me?
I'm holding out too!!! Going 10/22 -10/26. Why is this time excluded? Why is it so popular? I'm an AP so I wouldn't be doing FD any how but I looking forward to to first time MNSSHP and hope it isn't too crazy for my little grand ones.

Ok, I think I have read through everything and I hope this is not a repeat question for you all. We arrive on oct. 23 till oct 30th
Which means if I want to take advantage of FD I would have to book two separate reservations. One from the 23rd-25th then another from the 26th to the 30
This will obviously increase cost by a bit as I would have to buy a 2 day park pass then a 4 day. I can't keep my original 6 day correct?
Lastly if I decide to take advantage of FD then a room discount becomes available can I cancel the FD and go back to my 7 night stay with the room discount.
Just really sucks that I have to technically do a split stay for FD. I was hoping they could just add the dinning to the last 4 days

Check out the theme parks community board sticky about tickets. You can actually pick up tickets attached to a package up to 3 days prior to checking in for a package. All the Info you need is there. You would do a room only the first 3 nights and hopefully you will be able to get a RO discount on that, use tickets from your package, pay out of pocket for dining, and then check out and back in with free dining reservation on the 26th.

I have a question about dining reservations. Does anyone know if or how to move an existing dining reservation to another booked resort?

Just book the ADR again for the day you want. Then for the original date, you can directly cancel, or if you select a new ADR for a time (close to) that you already have an ADR booked, it will prompt you and let you cancel within the booking of the new ADR.

We'll be present 10/26 to 11/3!! We booked our trip while we were there in March and got the bounce back discount on our room which we find to be better than the free dining because we stay in club level. However, we get excited about any discounts we can get when planning for disney:rotfl2:
