~*~*~The Oct 2014 waiting patiently (or not so) for a discount thread ~*~*~

New to this group and just starting to plan an October long weekend the first weekend. What are pins? I want to book now, but like everyone else I am hoping there is a free dining offer. When is that usually published and if I book now and then it is offered can I have them apply to my reservation?

A pin is a number that some people get direct from Disney that is for a specific discount. Not everyone gets them.

You can apply a discount to an existing reservation, as long as a room is available under that promotion. Although the more people that book, the less likely Disney is to issue a discount during that time period. As previously explained by several people, if they can fill the rooms at rack rate than why would they discount them?

Im in the same boat too. Waiting for some kind of code to come out. We are booked Oct 9-18th for our honeymoon. My fiance wants the deluxe plan 3 meals per day so I have high hopes for free dining and just pay the upgrade fee.

Not to burst your bubble, but that is the week surrounding Columbus Day, so the chances of FD being offered for that week are not great.

Bah! I think I got a pin in the mail today... not sure, it says "unique offer code" I googled it and nothing came up. It is for a discount on rooms, and free park hopper. I do not want a park hopper... Oh well. It only goes through August, so we can't use it anyway.

Thats what they call pins now.

If I'm trying to get an idea of how much the cost will be after free dining, can I look at the price now without the dining? Sorry if that's a stupid question - but is the discount for free dining only and no reduction for the room rate? Meaning that the rooms are at rack rate? I'm just trying to get an idea of what the cost would be if we get free dining.

If you get free dining, you won't get a room discount. So, yes, you'd pay rack rate.

I usually price meals and see what we'd spend, then add a the room and ticket package, and see what we'd save, then if a room discount comes out, I can see which is the better offer.

Hi. Joining the thread!

Wanting to go to POR Oct 17th to 30th.

Flights booked from UK. Now looking for a good FD or room discount on either US or UK Disney site. Checking constantly even though I know I'm unlikely to see anything until at least next month.

Might just book a preferred room on US sure to get the room then cancel if a UK discount turns up that's better.

Decisions decisions...

Are pins unique? If your not going to use it, would you mind sharing? Marissakay0128 at hotmail

PINS are unique and can only be used by the person or people within that household.

Is it true that in order to get FD that you have to have a park ticket for every day that you're there?

I got tired of going all the way through and then canceling so I just booked my honeymoon 10/19 - 10/29

Room and Tickets at POR I will add things later

what do you think odds are of room only discount first week of October (hoping to travel 10/3-10/10)
airfare booking today as points keep increasing for flights we want!

Thanks for the info! Not looking great - maybe one day discount

I believe, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, as long as your vacation BEGINS at some point within the given dates, your FD would be good for the duration of your stay.

EDIT: oops, I'm referring to FD but not sure how room only discounts work....
