The November 2015 Open Pre and Live Trip Reports

@Jimsig that is great you waited until the last min to surprise her!!! I remember doing that with our almost 19 year old back when she was in 2nd grade. We woke her up and hubby filmed her and asked her if she wanted to go to school or Disney today :) :)

That was when we ventured to Disney Land.

I'll never forget that moment...sniff!

Your creating some great memories there for you both! Looking forward to your report.

Glad you made it in safe jimsig.
Yesterday the DW and I spent the morning at Epcot and then made our way to what would be our only trip to Disney Springs. Gonna take some getting used to that name. Went there for the first time 15 years ago with the kids........my how things have changed. I guess as they say......"change is inevitable". Here are some pics from last night.
Dinner at Planet Hollywood.

This group was named "Nova Era" and they usually play in front of Fulton's. They were excellent. I even bought their CD.

I truly hate to see this go. On our first trip to Disney this was a must do that at that time was included with the Ultimate Park Hopper passes. Our kids loved this place.

We have also had the opportunity to watch La Nouba. What a show!!

The new "carboats" unlike the mouse boats....you don't drive these. They drive them for you.

We rode the motorcycle to Disney Springs and parked in the new garage. They are nice and well lit. When you look at the picture you will see a green number hanging from the ceiling and what looks like cameras hanging over each parking spot. Those sense if a vehicle is parked there and the number lets you know how many spaces are available. Really cool. Only thing is it did not pick up my bike.

Today is our last full day at Disney. We are going to spend it at MK.

Jets70, enjoy your last day and thanks for all the great pictures.

I'm guessing the picture baton will be passed to ruthies12? Looks like she's got that "posting-pictures-from-my-phone" thing working. :thumbsup2

We made it. We left on Friday at 1:15pm. The goal was to leave at 1 so i was pleased. We wanted to leave early to get out of atlanta. Best laid plans but dang 75 south sucks. Had traffic issues but did not lose too much time. We made it to Valdosta in just over 4 hours. We stayed at River Park. It is right off the highway very convient. Since we got in early we headed to the slowest Publix in the south. We did the grocery shopping for the week and got sandwiiches for dinner.

The goal was to leave Valdosta at 9 am, and we pulled out at 9:!5. Again quite pleased with ourselves. Had very little traffic and hit the World arches in 3:45 min. Just before Disney Springs (the left turn) there was construction and a pile driver going. It caused mallory to talk.

We got to the Fort 1:15 pm. It was a bit crowded just to get through the guard shack. Pics of guard shack and check in. Took about 30 minutes till we were on our way to our site.

Now most of you know that we prefer the 700 loop. They had one site in 700 and it was 734 it is on the end and looks out on to big pine. That was not going to work with big dogs. We ended up in the 900 loop. We are in 917 which is an inner loop. Coming around the neighbors across the street had 4 cars, 3 tents, 2 golf carts, and 1 pop up on the site. One car was even sticking way over into the road.

[GALLERY=][/GALLERY]

This was after they moved one car and blocked the path to the big camp area. They were out and i kindly asked them to move the car and they did and the golf carts as we had some fun getting into the site. We had an audience. It was difficult but we did it. I said this is what keeps a marriage strong or can cause a divorce.

Setup and took the critters for a walk. Then to Trails End for dinner. I will say the shrimp were a little tough tonight but the brisket and salmon were awesome.

Back home and setup the modem. Sitting outside now with a beverage. The weather is awesome.

More dog pics in the monring. Jets70 has awesome park pics and Tiggerdad did great with fort pics in the Oct thread. So i will be posting pics of the dogs.

Glad you made it down safely. It is windy and 33 degrees here. Can't wait to see the dog pictures.

Long day that started too early. It was nice to leave freezing Pittsburgh behind for sunny Florida. We were off the plane by 10:30 and all checked in by noon. We were the last stop of 4 for the magical express. Our cabin was not ready. We got in the 2100 loop which has not been remodeled. So that's enough of a reason to come back. Just so we can compare old style to new. That is what I had requested to be close to the comfort station and main pool. We got our text that the cabin was ready about 2:30. We got our groceries dropped off and headed out to animal kingdom. It is very pretty at night and very empty during the last couple of hours.
Here's the Christmas tree

Love the tree and all your great photos - thanks! We arrive in 2 days and I was hoping most of the resorts would have their decorations up - looks promising! :)

Thanks. She's now been to WDW 3 times in the last 2.5 years and we have surprised her every time.

We all had a busy and tiring but great day. According to my DW's fitbit we did 8.42 miles today! Got in the MK around 930a and walked out at the end of the 10p fireworks. Was able to snag 6 additional FP's and I think we saved the best for last for the Jingle Cruise. Luckily we can sleep in tomorrow.

Garneska,

Glad you guys made it safe and sound. I really liked 900 loop and will request it again.

The girls are looking forward to seeing Mallory and Yeti. Sorry, but you're kinda in the backseat when it comes to my daughters. They really like those dogs.

i thought I recognized your dogs. We are the white Nissan and Hideout that were right across from you in 918. The lucky neighbors of the over crowded site. He was the leader of Indian Princess group. There were 148 of them! Hope to never stay in this loop again. We were right next to the primitive group site and they got pretty rowdy over there, They should be leaving tomorrow, I think, so you should have a nice week.

Just got home from a great long weekend at the Fort to celebrate my birthday. Got there Thursday around noon, drove right in and up to the check in lanes. That was the smooth part. Took them 30 minutes to get us a site, which it should not have because I did online check in. We have a small 17ft TT and were suppose to be in loop 2000 with my sister's family who tent camp. We have done this twice before always getting sites next to or across from each other. I called ahead the first time we camped there with the new TT to make sure we could do this. This time it was a problem. Tried to get into a full hook up, that way both the TT and the tents would be accommodated. Poor CM was on the phone forever and just couldn't put us together so he finally called a manager. She said since they were full capacity there was nothing she could do. She said they do not allow trailers of any size in the tent loops and never have.....not true, but I was tired of waiting and just wanted to get to a site. They put us the 900 loop assuring us it was a short walk over the bridge to the 2000 loop. They did not charge us for the upgrade to premium. I found out as we were setting up from our neighbor, who was a group leader for the Indian Princess group that was camping in the primitive group campground, that some of his families wanted to stay in private sites. They were all tent camping and some got the 2000 loop, but others were stuck in our loop. He told me that since he had 200 nights at FW under his belt, they would do whatever they could to get them moved to the 2000 loop. NOW the truth comes out, they saw that we had a TT and switched us with someone in the 900 loop that had a tent. No way to prove it, but that's my gut feeling. And lets just say it was not a short walk to mys sister's campsite, and it was a long ride on the cart or bikes, so unfortunately, we didn't get to hang out with each other much at the campground. To make it worse, as we road our cart through the 2000 loop to meet up with my sister, there were two sites that had TTs, one was at least 25 feet! My sister took photos and wanted me to go back up front, but no way was I moving after we already set up camp.

A little more on our site. The site itself was nice and big and had a nice wooded space behind it. The negatives were that it was right next to the primitive group site and they could get a little loud over there. There also was almost no privacy between us and our one neighbor. He was the group leader of an Indian Princess group of 148 dads and girls. He had a lot of people in his site and put up a large outdoor movie screen. He was really nice and kept asking us if he they were bothering us, and of course I said no. If we had some more trees and vegetation between us, it wouldn't have been so bad.

tltay2005, yeah we had lots of fun getting in. I was surprised it was not louder last night. The Fort is crowded very few empty sites. We enjoyed sitting out saniizing our water system.

This is how we start our mornings.

After that it was time for our run. DH is training for the half and me the full. Well I was supposed to do 9 miles, but I have terrible luck for those of you who know me. I managed to fall at mile 6.2 or so. Basically the sidewalk was uneven and I did not pick up my foot. I fell. Not near as bad as last year. Nothing is sprained, but I landed on my side. I knocked the wind out of me. Now that chest wall hurts, I know I did not break a rib, its not that painful. Needless to say I am a little slow today.

We went to Olivia's for lunch at OKW. First time we have ever been to OKW. Have a few pics if people want to see. Then off to target for some things we forgot. Found wine on sale too, always a bonus. Came back and took dogs for a long walk. Hanging out now, plan is epcot tonight.

We do like this site. It has a nice area for the dogs and they are not barking too much. We also have a pile of leaves and twigs in the rig and in Yeti's tail.
