The next time!!!

pppiglet---remember the cm's do put out towels on the back of the chairs early in the morning. But....you are probably right....just hoping.

What amuses me is that a camera flash only really works about 15 feet.. so what ALL those annoying people are taking pictures of are the back of the heads of the people in front of them with the stage washed out.

People noisy in the hallways at ANY TIME OF DAY bother's me. I tell my kids you never know if there is a baby napping somewhere....
Don't you know that rules don't pertain to EVERYONE??!! :rotfl:

Seriously - the two things you've mentioned really annoy me, too.

After going through the Mickey ears, I'm pretty sure I saw a trash bin with a sign that said "Prior to Boarding, Please Dispose of all Common Courtesy and Common Sense". :rolleyes1

My main complaint is the same as the OP. Why oh why do parents allow the kids to run in the hallways late at night or early in the morning. I hate waking up to the thump, thump, thump. But then of course they are with their parents who are talking loudly.

Isn't that the truth! LOL! We haven't had this problem on DCL but, at WDW. The last time we were at the GF we were in little *wing* that just had the 4 rooms at the end of the hall. Every morning (before 8am) and everynight (after 11pm) the Parents/Grandparents and about 4 kids would stand outside our door (they were staying in the 2 rooms across the hall) and discuss their plans for the day (while the kids were playing tag around them) -- why they couldn't have done that before they left their rooms is beyond me!!!!
They woke up my then 4dd (this was Feb 2006) everytime! I could have slugged them!

Okay, now I'm nervous about our first cruise. We usually aren't "crowd" people for many of the reasons listed, but we're going b/c the kids really, really want to. I'm sure we'll have fun, but really, if we encounter that type of behavior I don't think I'd be as calm as many of you.

I hope everyone remembers that the problems spoken about here are for the most part just one short moment in an otherwise wonderful cruise. I have had issues on my cruises but no more than I have at a day at work or at my local shopping mall.

They happen, you deal with them, and let them go so you can enjoy. No matter where you go there will always be those who do not respect the rights of others based on the fact that they feel that they are the begining and end. Not everyone is taught that in order to have rights there are responsibilties that must be followed. The most important one is that your right must not interfer with the rights of others.

Go and you will have a wonderful time if for no other reason than to watch your kids have an awesome time. Lois

Well, it was not affecting my cruise last year only bit to bit, that one man was cheeky to waiter in pluto as he was asking for hot dog and waither gave him a hot dog and the man threw way roll at waiter and eat hot dog. My husband thought it was very bad manner.:scared1:

That is all and everything went great only thing was noisy in our connecting stateroom with engineer.

Please don't get nervous as you will be fine.

We didn't get up there on sea day til late. Guess if we really wanted to use it we could have stayed on the ship today instead of going into Cozumel! It was totally empty at 9:30 this morning. But never been to Cozumel so that won out!

Jumping in the Goofy pool.

It is written on both sides of the pool "No Jumping" and with good reason there are way too many people in the pool. These kids kept jumping in and landing on other people. When a cast member spoke to them they stopped for a minute but once they walked away - the father said "She is gone now you can start jumping"

This is very serious, as a child got a head injury on our Oct cruise. As a result we didnt allow our DD in the goofy pool. I hope on the new DCL ships they address the pool areas. I was a bit dissapointed with this. guess thats why after Oct we are trying RC that has an amazing H20 area.

I know that I'll be pitching a fit if my children are endangered by this sort of activity. If it happens like above, I will also let DCL know when I return that it's my last DCL cruise. Just my thoughts.

The parents that allow their children to play in the restaurants is appalling. Lori

I agree! The 2 tables that were near us had "bad kids" I am so sorry for saying that but the truth hurts for some.

#1
At one table. a mom (no Dad on cruise) with 3 kids, oh my. The little girl (she was 10) came to our table and would just sit down. Draw on my kids menus, and bug my kids. I dont know why. My kids ignored her except to give her strange looks. At the other table, a grandma, grandpa, mom, dad ,and 2 bad boys. These kids acted so very badly at dinner each night. I was horrified! I cant believe people let their kids do this stuff at dinner. I know its a long dinner, but my kids never acted up - They have always been taught how to act in public and they know they should.

#2
The second thing that ANNOYED the pants off me was that same family (dinner family #2) running and pushing people to get to the 1 or 2 row in the Walt Disney Theatre EVERY night. The mom even pushed my daughter out of her way because we were not running. :eek:We always stood in line and got to the first few rows (without running and shoving) So, brings me back to how their kids act...hummm...wonder where they get it from?

This was not on a DCL cruise but on our very first cruise last year. We were one of the first families in the terminal waiting oh so patiently. There was a desk in front of us where you signed in and then had a picture taken. As we were sitting there "people watching basically" I saw this family come up to the desk and when the son (maybe 10 yrs old) was standing there getting his picture taken, he flipped the photographer off with BOTH HANDS!!!! The parents were just standing there watching and laughing. I was totally flabbergasted.

And for some reason, out of the 2100 or so people on board that week, it seemed EVERYTIME I turned around, THIS SAME FAMILY would be right in front of my face. The father was loud and obnoxious, the mother was on cloud nine and didn't have a clue and the boy was about the rudest kid I think I have every seen (must have gotten those attribrutes from daddy) We were on a Norwegian cruise and they have Freestyle dining. Each night the restaurants would open at like 5:30 and we were always there about that time (usually about the 20th or so in line) and every night I would see that whole family right behind us by a couple people. But they timed it right each time....right before the doors would open, the wife would sleeze her way up to the front of the line and then yell "loudly" back to her husband, "Oh hon, there you are....we're up here, c'mon let's go" And then we would see them at every show and they somehow would be sitting right next to us. It was basically the family from hell.

Now we have booked our second cruise (1st with Disney) for this coming April and I just had a NIGHTMARE the other night that when we boarded, they were right behind us.

We had a man using his video camera in front of us in the theatre and the flashing light was so annoying. My husband who is not normally one to complain asked him to switch it off. He responded by dragging his poor children out of the theatre half way through the show and stomped off in a temper. Why cannot these people follow rules - felt so sorry for the little child.

On our last cruise, when my children were at the goofy pool and if I saw anyone jumping near my kids, I will tell them not to jump because they can hurt someone. I would sit right on the edge of the pool close to where my kids are. It's the only way. I figure if noone will stop them, then I have no problem saying something. I don't want my kids, or any other kid get hurt by someone else.

We had man in front of us at the buffet using the same ladle for all the food.

At least that is not as bad as the 9ish girl we saw licking the ladle. :scared: They had to clear out alot after that. She was up at the buffet by herself and old enough to know better.

Someone let's their kid's run down the hallways at 6:30AM, I am going to go out and stand in the middle of the hallway in my thong underwear and give those parents a piece of my mind!!!

What behaviour of others bugged you on your last cruise?

Probably one of the things that bug me would be someone in thong underwear yelling in the hallway at someone else. :)

Okay, now to answer your question:
  1. Smoking neighbors that make it impossible to enjoy the veranda
  2. People "saving" seats in the theatre -- even though it's not allowed -- only to have no one show up for the seats
  3. Having loud, rude, annoying people sitting next to me or in front of me in the theatre, especially with video cams or flash cameras (both of which are not allowed during the live shows)
  4. Having to share the dinner table with people who have no manners, who do not control their children, or who order everything just to taste it and end up throwing away the vast majority of food ordered
  5. Being pushed or shoved because someone toward the back wants to get up front in the lines for the shore excursions -- as if it really matters.
And yet, in all of the above, it doesn't happen very often and generally I really like my cruise experiences with Disney and the other lines I have been on (Holland America, Princess, and the QE2.) The above happen too rarely to dampen my spirits and I've ended up meeting so many really nice people.

Rude adults shoving (especially when they put their hands on my kids shoulders or backs to move them out of the way) past my kids to get ahead makes my blood boil.

Kids jumping in the Goofy pool. My son is the one under the water most of the time. He thinks he's a fish:rotfl2:

Chair hogs

Rude kids in the clubs. DD now 12 has had lots of stories about her experiences in the clubs.

I have no idea if you are male or female, young or old, but it makes no difference to me. I'd personally run and up down your hallway at 6:30AM to see that thong underwear of yours. Do you really wear that to SLEEP? If so, then maybe I'm missing out on one of the pleasures in life.

Now to keep this on topic, chair hogs are a pet peeve of mine. I don't mind if they're in the pool, but I hate it when they stake a claim and do things on other parts of the ship. That's downright rude. Go to lunch, lose your chair. Fair and square.
