Personally I heard this rumor about a year to two ago as well. I doubt it. First off I know there is a big need for more value rooms and family suites so I think they would try to milk that cow as well.

I don't think we will see it come to pass.

well Marriott did not do as well with their value - Horizons - since DVC does follow the rest of the markets in most things.

now they might - but not until they have sold out of the deluxe DVC - which will take them a few years - especially if they put one at the Polyn and GF.

the suites at Pop is just a rumor too -although a nice one.

until WDW gets through their 5 years plan - promise stockholders for 5 years no new WDW resort. (now would not consider Pop new - but stockholders might)

DVC resorts are the exception - first Disney gets the pay back immediately so no waiting years for a good return. then they get to charge us a fee for the rest of the time we own that contract.

IMO, the reason that Marriott's Horizon's didn't take off are that they made other fatal errors and not necessarily that the step down resorts weren't a good idea if done right. They put them either in second rate locations (in some regards) like Branson and Gatlinburg (planned, not built) and in direct competition with their more upscale counterparts in Orlando without enough price differential to make it work. I also think it was a mistake to target Younger familes with younger kids exclusively. I think DVC could make it work if they so choose. I do think it's be tough to tie it directly in to DVC, I think it'd be better to be an offshoot with limited crossover to the rest of DVC but I do think it could be done. I suppose that with smaller points packages that would be inherent in a "value DVC" it would be possible to just put in into the system as another resort and let them fight it out at the 7 month window. There was a major thread on this subject maybe in 2002 if I recall, if only the search feature worked consistently and well.

I thought I read some place that IF they finished the pop legendary years, they were going to make them into family suites, similar to the ones at all-star music.

Now that would be an excellent idea.
