The Next 24 Hours in MK?

After reviewing highlights of the Leap Day event last year and seeing all the people planning for this week's 24 hour MK event I've decided that I'm going all in for the NEXT one. Of course, we have no idea when that will be or if Disney will ever do one again, for that matter.

Anyone have any inside knowledge about possible 24s (that's what we'll call them) in the future. Or thoughts on when and Disney SHOULD do another one?

I think they are looking for the one after this one.

OP... not sure if there IS an answer to your question at this time.

I really hope that this is something they do more often. I had conflicts both previous dates so was unable to go. I definitely want to try for 24 straight hours! Here's hopin' it happens :cool1:

I would only do it again if it was a hard ticket event. Only then would it be worth it, IMO. Too many people to enjoy the park. Waiting 30 minutes to ride PotC at midnight was not my idea of fun.

And that was after waiting for over an hour to see M&M in their PJ's. That's an entire other complaint involving FP's vs standby.

I think you answered your own question.

I think it depends on how successful the May 24th event was. I wasn't there and haven't heard much about crowd levels. Does anyone have any idea if it seemed crowded enough to justify doing it again?

Well considering the MK parking lot at the TTC filled beyond capacity, I'd say they had a good showing with it.

The line for the PeopleMover was down the ramp, through a que line and wrapped around Tomorrowland at 11:30 pm. Waited standby over an hour for M&M in their PJ's. We gave up on getting anything done and left at 2.

I was there at 12:30 am--hoped it would be a bit less crowded by then and it was still crazy busy. DH and I decided to just walk around and even when we left at 1;45 am, the waits were still long.

My son and his girlfriend were in the Magic Kingdom for the 24 hr event last week and said they waited 2 hours at Space Mountain (when the sign said 40 mins) around 10pm. They had planned the trip prior to knowing about the 24 hr opening so this was not a 'must do' event for them and they left the park around 11pm.

Just FYI, my other son and daughter were in Disneyland for the 24 hr Leap Day event last year (flew all the way from NY just for the one day event) and said it was wall to wall gridlock at one point that evening.

They all agree that the best way to do it next time would be advance ticketing only.

Pretty cool to have kids who attended both 'once in a lifetime' events! :cool1:

We flew down Friday after picking DS up from school. After checking in and getting something to eat we finally arrived at the park right around 10:30/11pm. The crowd levels were insane and everything had a very long wait including things that normally had very little to no wait. We got fastpasses for Buzz and went over to Dumbo so the little one who was still very much awake could run around a bit. After Buzz the older two went to Jungle Cruise and I took their little sis to the baby center because she was determined to stay awake and it was near 1am.

Finally got her to go to sleep DH stayed there and held her and I got food for the big kids. This was at 2am in line for Casey's and it was packed with long lines to get mini corn dogs and hot dogs. DS stayed with DH and little DD while DD16 and I went up to fantasy land. DS fell asleep so we went back and they left right around or before 3am. It was not until this time that the crowds became manageable. Yup 3am still crowded but manageable. DD16 and I were able to do a lot in the next 2 hours but that was about all we could take.

Party was still going strong when we went to the bus around 5:15am. So I would say this was a success for them.

I would not be surprised if they find another excuse to do it again in the future, but it will be a surprise announcement when it happens.

I was watching the DIS podcast earlier today and they said that Disney announced there will be another 24 hour event in 2014. They have not set a date, but I think they said it would be in the Summer. I'm definitely going this time, especially since I don't live too far away! Just have to talk the DBF into it :)
