The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

Welcome back!!

Maybe it's seperation anxiety? I know, lately Lily has days where she wants me to hold her all the time. I'd go insane if it wasn't for my Beco.

Nope, Lucas doesn't want held. Ever. :headache::headache:
He wiggles out of your arms and starts moving again! :rotfl:
If you don't let him go, he screams.

He wants to be on the lose, all the time!

I put him in the living room with his bongo toy with Nickelodeon on. He watched it/played with the bongos for about a half hour then started crawling.
Our house has three rooms that are connected to each other almost in a straight shot downstairs- living room, dining room, kitchen in the back. He's been crawling through all three all morning and then turning around and going back the other way. I had to go close the doors to the basement/bathroom/mudroom but in general he's been content to crawl... so hopefully this works from now on! He's not cried much, generally just if he can't get to the dog's toys..

*eta* Do any of you use play yards? I can't decide if it's something worth buying or if it will just piss him off even more!
We are going to leave today... I am hoping that getting out will keep him quiet and wear him down.

lol What an active little guy. Hope getting out of the house helps!

Alright, hopefully this makes sense.

We went to Sam's Club. They had the Safety 1st Alpha Omega Elite seats for $99. They rear face to 35lbs.

So I'm going to give the Nautilus to my parents to use until I need it (in about a year and a half or so, when baby # 2 outgrows the infant carrier)...
At that point I'll move Lucas into the Nautilus and this kid into the Safety 1st seat.

I think that is a pretty decent plan, plus it's affordable! I think $99 for that seat is a great price!

Patsy - I agree, I think $99 is a great deal for that carseat! And having a backup for your mom will be nice cause installing/uninstalling regular seats (as in non-carriers) is a pain.

We never used a play yard, but my friend had one and her son was able to push them so he could get to what he wanted, which ended up knocking things down along the way. She then changed the design from a yard to a fence around the stuff she didn't want him near and that seemed to work better. I don't know if that helps you at all, but that's my only experience with them.

My day today is like a never-ending stream of crappy events. The highlight at the moment is baking cupcakes for my daughter's class of 28 kids (her birthday is tomorrow), then baking her cake to eat here, which has to be done tonight cause we traditionally eat cake for breakfast on birthdays. Then she reminded me about her birthday book. Each year the kids bring in a homemade book chronicling their lives thus far. I totally, completely forgot about this. Normally I have my daughter make her own book and I just get her the photos and help with gluing and stuff, but she reminded me at 7:45pm, on her way to bed, 45 minutes later than normal cause we get home late on Thursdays and then the baby vomited all over herself and me. SO now I have to do it, which wouldn't be so bad except that all her photos up to age 2 or so are real photos, not on the computer. Which means I now have to dig around to find some of those tonight, after baking all this stuff and it's already 9:30pm. And since the baby threw up everything she ate from basically 5pm-7pm, I know she won't sleep well, so I'll be up all night and my husband is working overnight tomorrow so no break for me there. I can't wait for Saturday afternoon when both kids have a playdate (at the same house no less!) and I can rest. Or rest as much as possible with the baby home (and my husband will likely be as tired as me from working the OB floor all night tomorrow).

What a crappy night, Justhat! Hopefully things got better for you!

Woohoo, for the last two nights, Little E has gone 4 hours between feedings!! Four hours, in my mind, just feels exponentially longer than 3 hours!! Sounds weird, must be a mind thing.

Last night we were at an indoor waterpark for a Cub Scout event. Elliott slpet almost the whole time. He must have loved the warm, humid air, and all the noise. He loves constant noise!

He is just getting so big and alert now!! Can't believe he is a month old already!

Jakes first tooth came in last night.... he has been fussy and exceptionally sleep this week, which probably explains a lot. He is 5 mos old.

When can you start giving motrin? Is it 6 or 9mos? I cant wait until the day I can piggy back motrin with tylenol..lol. 4 hours seems like a lifetime in the middle of the night.

Yeah for a tooth! It is great when you can explain fussiness, isn't it?

Our pedi let us do motrin at 6mos, but I know they are all different. Allison seems to do better with motrin for teething and tylenol for a fever.

Hope you get a little break before more chompers show up!:)

We use a play yard to keep her away from the fireplace, but I think she prefers to roam around. I think she would be p.o.'d if she were enclosed in it. Sounds like lucas likes to explore as well.
_____________

Allison climbed up a whole flight of stairs last night!!!
I saw her go over to them and kind of just watched to see what she would do. Sure enough, she kept going up, up, up. Made me SO sad!
Guess I need to go buy another gate!

We didn't use a play yard or pack and play with either. I have a pack and play that my mom used for daycare kids that we keep around just in case we go somewhere during naptime.

We ended up using those foam play puzzles, the ones that make a play mat, and put them over the fireplace. It's all brick and the hearth is raised so I was afraid someone would bump their head on it. So I used the XL ones along the bottom and the smallest ones linked along the top. It's not the prettiest solution but our downstairs family room is our playroom so everyone understands. ;)

I had to go to the dentist for a toothache this morning. I had a fever last night and just couldn't get comfortable. This morning I must have fallen on the bathroom floor because I remember turning off the shower but not getting out. I called DH and he took me first thing. They found I injured my gum some how in the very back and it made an infection. I was thankful they could see me so quick. I just hope the meds kick in soon.

Hi everyone. I have been out of the loop this past week and a half. I have been at my parents for 9 days. We had a great time and I bought a new car:banana: I have a lot of catching up to do. Natalie is getting soooo big. I had to lower the mattress of her crib today since she can pull herself up now. She gets this really cute look on her face when she does. Has this month just flown by for anyone else? It is hard to believe we leave for Disney a week from Sunday. Whew, I am ready for some sunshine on my pasty face. Hope everyone and their LO's are doing great.

I leave for Disney in a short 93 days.....:rotfl: I can't wait. I'll be through with my masters, school will be out for the summer, and Katie will be 1!

She still doesn't have teeth! And she was 9 mos on Valentine's Day.

I'm so jealous of all you guys going to Disney! That is going to be so much fun! I lived vicariously through Stacy's pictures... next, yours!! :rotfl:

I went shopping for an Easter outfit for Lucas tonight. I'm not in love with what I ended up with. There are such better options out there for girls! I went in every store in the mall, plus looked at Kohls, and nothing! All the gorgeous dresses really made me want a girl!
Kohls had the cutest outfits but they stopped at 12m. Grr.. Lucas needs 18m.

I got him this shirt:
592064
at Kohls. I think it's soo cute! They had the last 2T in town. Hopefully they'll still have the little brother/sister onesies next month so I can go back! I thought about buying 1 of each and just returning whichever...

Patsy - We got these little Baby Gap onesies as a gift for Scarlett, in both Capricorn and Aquarius, since the gifter didn't know specifically when she'd be born. So I say buy both if they match the shirt you got Lucas, then return the one you don't need.

December - My kids were late teethers too. The older ones were both 10 months before they got a tooth. And my oldest only had 2 teeth till she was 16 months!

Today was Scarlett's 1 month ped appt, and though it came with a Hep B shot that she absolutely hated, I was so happy to see her dr today. Scarlett has vomited often since she was about 2.5 or 3 weeks old. Not just bad spit up like my son had, but full meals projectile vomited out. And the past week or so she's taken to crying a bit more than usual. Part of that I know is just the age, where that fussiness really peaks around 6 weeks old, but my others were typically consoled when I held them. This one, not so much. Her ped heard her screaming after the weight check and asked if that is common and when I said yes she started talking about reflux. I've sorta wondered about it cause my other kids never threw up like this, but it's not every meal so I didn't think too much about it. But once I mentioned the part about this little cough/choking sound she makes, the ped was pretty convinced. So we now have a scrip for Zantac that I need to decide if I want to use or not. I feel bad just jumping into it if she doesn't really have reflux, but at the same time, if she does, well, I remember the bad reflux I had when I was pregnant with her from my weekly shots so I would feel terrible if she were in pain like that. So we'll see how things go over the next few days and go from there I guess. I'd also like to discuss it with my husband first and he's working overnight tonight (which annoys me so much cause it's our daughter's birthday and he only requested this day off and it's the only Friday he's overnight all month!) so it'll wait at least till tomorrow.

Other than that, she's growing well 75th in height, 50th in weight.

And after staying up till 2:30am baking and working on my daughter's birthday book, I am done for the day and heading to bed!

Well... the twins will be one next week. We are having a teeny party. Just our moms and a couple of good friends. I cant believe they will be one already! Jasmine took her first step a couple of days ago. Its just nutty around here!

:scared1: So glad you are okay!! How scary!

I can't wait to hear all the details about the trip! What kind of car did you get?

Lily doesn't have any either, but she's been super fussy/sleepy this week so I'm wondering if she's like Jake. She's been really hungry too, so I think it was/is a growth spurt. She's been in obvious pain a few times, but I don't know if it's her mouth or her body...:headache:

Patsy....you can live thru my pics again...if I don't cancel on my oldest 1st! He has been so fresh, I just threatened to call and cancel. thankfully the youngest 2 have no idea and it wouldnt be punishing them. hubby and I will be going to hawaii in june (ish) with his work, so we'll still have a vacation. but the attitude and unapprecitiveness (is that even a word) of my oldest lately is having me 2nd guess this trip! :scared1:

Love the shirt!!

Crazy how time flies!

So for those of you not on FB CJ got his epipen. He gave it to us for insect stings, as he cand have a horrible reaction to stings, due to his disease. He tested his blood to see how active the urticaria pigmentosa is in his system. if it is showing a lot of activity, we will have to scratch test him cuz something he's ingesting is causing it. He did take 3 more tubes of blood to test somethings (environmental) thru the blood. he was able to check dairy and soy as well. just in case that's why he had such issues w/the regular formula. We started him on a daily does on zyrtec to hope w/his itchies. he agreed what I think, when he has something against his back, carseat, highchair, he squirms cuz he's the hives are bugging him. So it was a great visit with the allergist, he will call us with results in about a week and we go back in a month. If he has to be scratch tested, it will be done in a month.

I am trying to potty train my 3 year old (just turned 3) oh the fun! And we just had to send me oldest out kicking and screaming to "first reconcilliation" for his sunday school. he is so scared about the process and nothing i could explain helped him. i thought he was better, nope, today he had a melt down. I felt so bad, but he has to go.

ok..off to make some pooh bear and tigger waffles to freeze. I hate buying boxes of waffles when I can make and freeze them. I promised my oldest we'd make choc chip cookies when he got home...hopefully he made it in the church!

So I figured that we could take 2 trips to WDW, the August one and one the week before Christmas for less than our tax return (which really wasn't super huge). They would have to be 5 nighters instead of 7 like we normally do...

Normally, I think I would have them both booked, but with the situation with my dad, I feel guilty. :(

They decided to cash out his 401k to save the house. It'll get them through for a while, but he has to find a job. He'll still have his pension from Sears when he turns 65 (11 years) thank goodness.

I asked my mom if she was planning on canceling her cell phone contract (we have a family plan with her, cuz she gets a sweet discount for working for the Cleveland Clinic) and she told me they aren't canceling anything! :headache: If it were me, we'd cancel everything, even if that meant paying the cancelation fees.

I set up an appointment for them with our financial planner to go over options about the 401k and just general budgeting stuff. Hopefully he can show them the light.

She keeps saying that this is their problem, and we are a young family and borrowing money from us is not an option. I told her I would much rather help her now than completely bail them out down the line.

Their situation is exactly why DH and I have an emergency fund and are so serious about saving. Growing up I watched them waste money and live paycheck to paycheck, I just can't do that.

Sorry...thanks for letting me vent.

On a positive note, DH's job is probably safe. The union sent out an email that basically said "calm the heck down, people." I guess the district has to file papers in April just to have the option to let go of staff, but they plan on restructuring and having a very minimal staff loss, if any at all. Most actual cuts will be from retiriments and resignations. So we think DH is safe.

Thanks Sarah! I am feeling better today. I was really worried what was going on and couldn't decide to go to the hospital, doctor, or dentist. But I knew if I went to anyone but the dentist they would probably tell me to see him. I didn't know how much trouble a toothache could cause.

Glad to see you won't have to worry over your DHs job, too!

I know what you mean about the saving. DH grew up poor (and I mean DIRT poor, lived in a trailer on his grandparent's land, neither parent worked, etc.) and he sooooo doesn't want that. He's terrified of it happening to us. We have an emergency account that is enough to pay our expenses for about 18 months without canceling anything and he still doesn't think that is enough. :confused3

I think it changes the way a person views money to grow up that way. Sometimes, anyway. BIL obviously grew up the same way and he's following their example to the T. :sad2:

We (my family, growing up) only struggled when my mom got sick (she was actually treated at Cleveland Clinic for her first occurrence of breast cancer! Refused to let local doctors touch her!) so I don't understand his fear. Not that I'm a huge spender.. I think that is obvious by the tons of deals I post on here! :rotfl: but I feel safe and secure with what we have. I sometimes wonder if we'll ever have "enough" for him.

I'd go! Sometimes things are uncomfortable but I think your parents look at you and see that they raised someone who won't find themselves in the same position. Given what they're going through right now I'm sure it's a relief to know that their daughter will never have this particular struggle. They'd want you to enjoy what you have worked for!
That is how I see it anyway...
