The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

That would be another school of thought.... just feed the baby what you're eating (within reason, of course) just cut up small or cooked soft & mashed with a fork....... probably what our grandparents and great grandparents did. Only tried rice cereal so far w/ my babes & have had the same reaction you have. I'm thinking of trying veggies instead, but haven't done it yet. I'm in no real hurry.:lmao:

That's what I'm looking into. Baby led weaning. It sounds very interesting to me. Plus no $$$ on jars of baby food.

When do you guys stop using special detergent for the LO's clothes??

I've never washed our stuff in the free & clear and he's cuddled with us, laid on our blankets, etc. with no issue so I'm thinking I can probably start washing Lucas' stuff with ours, right?

I washed her stuff the first time with the deft and haven't used it since. It doesn't get the stains out like Tide does. And I use Downy too. :p

Sometimes he totally wakes up and sometimes he will put himself back to sleep, which he just started doing in the past week or so. He totally wakes up at least 3 times a night and takes a bottle, but he keeps his eyes closed during the feeding. We tried the Enfamil Restfull formula, which is supposed to thicken in the stomach so babies sleep longer, and he still woke up 3 times! If I have to change his diaper when he wakes up he gets sooo angry because he's so hungry! He cannot sleep longer than 3 or 4 hours before waking up, which sometimes means I've only been in the bed an hour or so myself before I'm up feeding him again. He also doesn't nap during the day more than 45 minutes.
I definitely agree with the no talking policy. I think it engages and excites them!
Thanks for the well wishes!

Well, you probably don't want my advice since I still sleep with my 6 month old. We get up anywhere from once a night to 3 times. You're story is one of the reasons I'm terrifyed to move her to the crib. She'll only nap in there for 30-45 minutes most days.

You're only changing his diaper if he poops right? You totally don't need to for anything else. If he has any redness just slather him up with desitin.

Technically sleeping through the night is only one 5 hour stretch. What you're describing is actually pretty normal. :(

Hi fellow moms! I'm a new(ish) mom, new to DIS and new to discussion boards in general!
Any suggestions for getting my 6 month old to sleep through the night? He wakes up at least 3 times a night to feed, sometimes as many as 6 times a night!

I wish I had some helpful words for you. DD9 months won't sleep anywhere unless she is in her crib. Not car seat, swing, bouncer, nothing. Only her crib! This started at about 3 months old & she never wanted to be rocked. Lord, do not try to rock that child!:rotfl2: So we lay her in her bed, good night princess, take off the lights, close the door & she's out. She put herself on a 6 pm-6:30 pm bedtime & sleeps 12 hrs. The past few days she's been going to bed at 6 pm & waking up at 9 or 10 am. I've gone to check on her many many times, but she's sleeping like a baby.

Katie only sleeps with me, so no help here either. And she only naps when nursing (like right now). If I pull away, she wakes up. Thank goodness for the laptop. She only slept 15 min all day today at daycare, so they aren't having any better luck than I am. She is 8 mos old.

I also use All Free and Clear on all our clothes.

Katie would be perfectly happy to not eat anything-just nurse all day and night. But if she is fed, she much prefers table food (sweet potatoes with cinnamon, biscuits, mashed pototoes, etc.).

Patsy, did I miss your update-didn't you have an appt?

Another person who can offer no help.

Lucas has been in his crib since his first night home from the hospital. We didn't give him any other choice. He's been sleeping through the night (~10p-10a) since he was somewhere in the 4-6wk old range.
Even before he slept through the night there was only ever 1 night feeding.

Robin, yep! I went for the ultrasound yesterday and saw my OB today.
They were out of film so we took a few pictures with our cell phones. She said I can pop back in and she'll print them out for me later. :)

My guestimate was right, my due date is 8/31.
She said assuming my water doesn't break/I don't start contracting I can go to 40 weeks. :)

Thank you for making me feel better! It's so crazy how every baby is so different!

Thanks! I am NOT attempting a VBAC so it will most definitely be a much smoother delivery than Lucas! :rotfl:

:thumbsup2 I would do the same thing if I were you!

So ever since I went back to work full time, I've started to feel more happy about being a parent. Yesterday it was really hard for me to leave Lily to go to work (and she was crabby!). I hadn't felt that way so much since the first week back. I have a lot more patience. It helps that she has been a real angel for the last 2 weeks...ever since I cut out coffee.

Even with that DH and I had a long talk about maybe not having another baby or at least waiting to try until next year. We both agreed that right now, we can't imagine having another. I'm pretty positive our attitudes will change in the upcoming months, but it was really nice that we are in total agreement.

:hug:Im so glad you are feeling better about things! Its rough going from just having to worry about yourself, and your husband.. to having a teeny little person who is completely dependent on you for everything. We waited 2-3 years between each baby... Just because thats what worked for us. Even though I have ahd a kid in diapers for almost 8 years!:lmao: Minus the few months Kaylee was potty trained before we had the twins.

You will know when the time is right. You will get that feeling inside and nothing will change your mind!:goodvibes

Thanks ladies!

My aunt is taking Lily to the Home and Garden show today. I hope they all survive...we haven't had her out that long yet.:scared:

I bet Lily will like looking at all the pretty displays. We have a garden show in the summer but it's really just an excuse to have an amusement park set up for a few days. All the sellers are high end and crazy expensive. I can plant my own bushes from Home Depot. :goodvibes LOL

It's freezing in the house this morning. I woke up to 2 kiddos with watery eyes and runny noses. I can't wait until Spring is here! It's so nice to have the backdoors open instead of just wide enough to let the dog in and out. :rotfl:

I know what you mean. It's freezing!! It's worse, because it was in the upper 40s here last week and now its heading towards the teens.

I'm so tired of being cold! I really hope we have good weather next week! Unfortunately, it looks like rain half the week...searching for rain gear now so that we are all prepared.

Also, Mother Nature has worse things planned for me besides rain. :scared1::lmao:

Here, too. Except we had 50's last week. Snow on the ground now though!

I think we follow the same type of weather patterns but you being so much further north and on the lakes, you're colder. Lucky you.

I've gotta admit that I wasn't totally ready for this next one (pretty stupid of me to stop taking BC then, huh? ugh). I wanted them close though, so I'm happy. I felt this way with Lucas at first, too, so I figure it'll pass.

Now that Lucas is more responsive and "talking" (total jabber) and laughing and reaching for us, DH is more interested. He plays with Lucas more, feeds him more, has really picked up on the diaper changes. He'll disappear with him now where as before he'd whine/complain that he didn't want to do anything.
I'm not sure how much is that DH is getting help for his issues now or if it is that Lucas has changed from a little tiny baby to someone he can interact with. He's much more fun now.

Since DH started seeing these people he's only had one of his "tantrums" (the psychologist's word) and it wasn't that bad. He didn't say anything cruel/hateful to me (or about Lucas) and I managed to get him out of it within an hour. Before it was happening 1-2x a week and he'd be in it for hours upon hours.
Yay for progress. :yay:

Glad your ultrasound went well, Piecey, and that your DH's issues are improving. :thumbsup2

DD's birthday party is next month. I can't believe she'll be a year old! I feel like I just had her!!!! :scared1:

Wow, a year has passed already???

I totally forgot I will now be responsible for throwing a birthday party. Oh, man! lol.

Patsy, I'm so glad things are going better with your dh!

Time is flying by too fast! Katie has decided she is too old for naps. She has taken one 15 min nap a day the last 2 days at daycare!:scared1:

Ick! Lucas still naps... I hope he keeps it up, that is when I do the majority of my school work!!

He was angry at me yesterday because I had to wake him up from his nap to go pick up the dog (he was at the groomer)... I got nasty looks!

We get to spend most of today at my parent's house... apparently my dad ordered a TV that has to be signed for and so I get to hang out and wait. I'm hoping Lucas will nap in his pack-n-play or the thing will get delivered before nap time.

Oh my! I would cry if there was no naptime here. Somedays their naps happen at the same time or within 30 minutes of each other. But if we are out during the day they are opposite. My 27m old will sleep from 2ish until 430 so it gives me time to make dinner and get things ready for the rest of the night.

Our LO was up last night from 2-330 coughing and spitting up everywhere. He finally settled back down for DH and slept until 830. I've already done 2 loads of wash from being soaked. Hopefully my jeans will be dry before the next round.
