The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

I feel so great today! Zander slept 9 1/2 hours straight last night! And two nights before that slept 6 hours straight. I am soooo hoping that this is the beginning of him sleeping through the night.

Today is his two month shots appt. so wish me luck. I will check in with ya'll later.

I'm jealous..... needless to say the first night home was rough. Not that I blame him, I mean his entire world just changed, who wouldn't be a bit freaked out & not their best. kwim?

Katie had 4 shots, plus 1 oral vaccine, rotavirus I think? It's a blur. I'm getting immune to crying......

That is what I thoughtI remembered from DS. One in each limb and an oral but I forgot how old he was at that time. Time flies and they get big to quick, plus this advanced maternal age mom is having alot of senior moments lately!!!:lmao:

Tell me about it.... only 1 night of getting tag teamed by the twins & I can't remember who got fed when. We'll need to sstart a clipboard & write stuff down, 'cause I can't remember anything.....

Lucas didn't get anything oral at his 2month.

He's 3 months today. Eeek!!! Time flies.

I've got a stack of medical people to call (none of them have billed insurance.. I really hate that.) so I just checked in quick!

Have a good day ladies!

Natalie got 2 shots and one oral. She did really great at the exam, it was 2 days later that it hit her. Poor thing was just miserable.

I am starting to see my hair fall out. The bathroom drain get covered in it. Not good, not good at all. Does anyone know when it stops?

Checking in. Lily's had her days/nights straight for a week now and she's spent most of the night in her bassinet instead of on me for 2 nights.

She's now 10 pounds, 6 ounces, 22 inches---75th percentile. She has a blocked tear duct that is all weepy and gross, but other than we're good.

So weird question for those of you with girls...how and how often should I be cleaning her girly parts? She has a bit of an smell and I'm worried I should be doing more...i thought I read to leave it alone...

So Zander had three shots and one oral, and I think the oral was for the rotovirus. He cried during the shots but it didn't take him long to quiet down, especially since he got some "num-num" afterwards! :rotfl:

He weighed 13 lbs. 10 ozs. and is 23 1/2 inches long. He's also in the 75th percentile for his weight.

Sarah-with Madeline I just made sure to wipe (gently) in all the nooks and crannies every time I changed her diaper with the baby wipes but never went internally (kwim?) and then of course bathed her in the same areas during her bath every other night.

I found out today I haven't been pulling back the skin enough with Zander's "area" and it was starting to grow back together. I just never know how far to pull down on the skin, I don't have one so how would I know! :rotfl2:

I promise it will get better. I had a note book that I used to see how much they were eating, and being changed. For the first few weeks it was a life saver!

Who was posting a few weeks ago about losing hair? I posted that I wasn't, and the next week my hair started coming out by the handfuls! It was awful. The floor in the bathroom, my clothes, the baby:rotfl:were all covered in my hair! I couldn't stand it anymore. I've been wanting a change anyway, so I got it chopped off this week. It feels so much better! Dh hasn't mentioned it-he is still pretending it didn't happen!:lmao:

That was me. Sorry if I jinxed you! It sucks... mine is still coming out quite a bit.

So I am thinking about starting to wean Allison to BF at only morning and night. I have TONS and TONS of frozen breast milk, but I want to make sure that she will take formula before I start weaning. I tried giving her some the other day, but she wouldn't take it. Not sure if it was because I was giving her the bottle or if she just didn't like it.

The formula seemed really frothy. (i used the powder and mixed it) is this normal?

I have also read about mixing formula and breast milk together- but I dont really want to waste the breast milk if she isn't going to drink it.

any suggestions?

I don't think you are supposed to mix breast milk and formula. Mine didn't like formula either, but I don't blame them. Have you smelled it LOL?

It is really frothy stuff. You can either make up some ahead of time and let it sit in the fridge... Which is what I do, just because I use so much of the stuff and it is handier for me. Or put a drop of mycilicon in the bottle. Takes all the bubbles right out.

To get her more used to the taste, you can put an ounce of formula in with three ounces of breast milk.. Or that sort of ratio depending on how much she eats. And slowly start mixing in more formula. You can also try giving her more BM from the bottle if she just isnt used to drinking from the bottle. Or have someone else feed her. She might just be used to you BF her, but will take a bottle from someone else.

I hope some of that helps a bit.

I have heard that sometimes BF babes reject the taste of formula. Comparatively, mommas milk tastes sweet. The formula that more BF babes seem to accept is Carnation Good Start, I think it's a sweeter tasting formula. It's something to try anyway.

Have you successfully fed any of your frozen breastmilk from a bottle, just so you know it's not the bottle she's rejecting?

If you shake it to mix it then yes, it will get pretty frothy, maybe try stirring it & then pouring it into the bottle.

I had the same thing with Lucas at his 1 month I think... they pulled it back apart a bit. :scared1:

DH and I are wondering if his circumcision okay. I remember the first time his pediatrician looked at him he told the med. student that "This is the new way of doing circumcisions" and we, stupidly, didn't ask any questions.
It just looks weird to us. :confused3

My OB did it and I don't want to harass her office anymore than I already have. I spent most of the day battling with insurance and the hospital before they finally admitted that they have nothing to do with the billing for my stays in L&D, my OB chose the codes that got billed. So then I had to deal with her office and they weren't too happy the hospital passed me off to them...

My insurance refuses to pay for the stay itself because the hospital billed it as "clinical" and my insurance doesn't pay for L&D stays in a clinic. They're being stupid- the bill is from a hospital and they paid for the care I received, but not the part for my room and such. Pain in my butt.

That IS a pain in the butt! Somehow they got the idea at the hospital that I had NO insurance even though I wrote everything down on our admission forms. THAT has been fun to deal with, let me tell you. One woman came in to "counsel" us the day Alexis was born about our options. We gave her our card, she made a copy, and said she would fix it. The next day, someone else from the same office came in because the first lady didn't leave a record of our info when she left the day before. So, we gave this one all our information again. The lady who does the birth certificate/Social Security paperwork is a friend of DH's. She came in and asked him if he lost his job because "uninsured" was stamped all over our paperwork. :confused3 So, we told her about the mix-up for good measure. We are still getting bills from various hospital departments. My Dr. and the Women's Center seem to have gotten the information corrected. The anesthesiologist and lab, not so much. Good times.

Thanks for the suggestions. She takes a bottle of pumped or frozen milk at daycare or from DH, but has yet to really take one from me. I guess I will try her with breast milk first from me and then try the formula. or I can have DH try giving her the formula. I know it smells bad, I haven't tried tasting it yet- I know she will have to get used to it. My doctor recommended similac or enfamil- i have a tub of similac i got as a sample, so that is what i tried.
I guess I will just keep trying. I just dont want to stop the BF if she is not going to take the formaul when we run out of frozen milk.

My poor boy. So we worked on pulling back the skin last night while he was in his bath. He cried and cried. We got most of it pulled back but there is still one small spot that hasn't come apart yet. We didn't want to traumatize him too much in one night so we stopped for the night. I soooo hope we can get it pulled back because I would hate to have to have him recircumcised. I feel so bad since its my fault for not pulling it back enough each day.

I HATE dealing with insurance. It seems like a constant battle. And I can never get their logic on what they pay and what they don't pay.

hotveggy-it may be that she doesn't want to take a bottle from you because she gets to breastfeed with you and I am sure she is going to prefer that over a bottle. Zander was the same way I tried to give him a little formula. It just took a little time to get him used to the idea.

I never knew about the trick of the gas drops. It makes sense though. I use Dr. Brown's bottles but it doesn't get rid of all that froth. I will have to try the gas drops next time.

Sarah-I meant to ask yesterday, but did Lily have to get any shots at her appt.? I know you were worried about them.

I could gripe about insurance all day but at the current moment I'm more annoyed with the hospital/my OB. I need to know whose fault it is!!

You guys probably remember my 3 trips to L&D right before Lucas was born due to my gallbladder, right? Well I've only gotten a bill for 2 of the 3, let us call them trips 1 & 2. Insurance has only received a bill for 2 & 3. It doesn't make any sense, either, that they billed one as "Surgery" and the other for "Day Surgery"... my insurance on "Surgery" is 80/20 and insurance covers 100 on "Day Surgery" so that irritates me a bit. I was there for the same thing, in the same room even! Yet the billing is all messed up and nothing is consistent!

The other hospital has my insurance backward for the gallbladder surgery, too. It's seriously the biggest mess I've ever seen. :rotfl:

Mendy, they didn't pull it back?? The NP at the Pediatrician's office pulled Lucas' back for me. I can't imagine how hard that has to be on you guys. Eek!

Melessa, omg! That is scary! I wonder why they feel the need to stamp "uninsured" all over your paperwork-- does that somehow mean you're not entitled to the extra cup of Jello?! What a PITA!!!

I think december still takes a big piece of the cake, though. She said they gave her the first bill before she even left!

SO... I think I have made a final decision on where we are staying. Alex and Kaylee were really wanting to stay at Pop, so we decided just to do two weeks there, in two rooms. Its cheap, and I think all the kiddos will like it.

So what are everyones plans for the weekend? Our temps are finally cooling off here, so we may actually do something outside. :thumbsup2 100 degrees temps are too hot for Natalie, I think our high this weekend will be 90 degrees.

Last night my DH and I finished making all of our ressies. It is only 84 days away... but who's counting. We still have to buy our MVMCP tickets and do our CP dining. I can't wait. We usually go every Thanksgiving but last year we visited some friends and went on a cruise. We really missed it.
