The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

december, I hope you passed the Praxis and the next 4 weeks don't drive you utterly insane!!!

Ughhhhhhhhh! I am SO DONE with my DH's family!!

We were just told that the reason they're not happy (about us having another kid) is because we can't/don't take care of Lucas.

For the following reasons:
1) We don't feed him table food. (note: Christmas dinner they tried to get us to give him mashed potatoes, I refused because Lucas has a milk allergy and there is milk/butter/etc. in mashed potatoes.)
2) We don't give him enough solids. (note: This judgement is based on MIL's only overnight keeping of Lucas whenever he was about 4.5m old and we were following the pediatrician's orders to NOT feed solids until 6 months and then introduce slowly [esp. because of Lucas' allergies])
3) I only gave him two bottles at Christmas dinner. (note: Lucas ate a bottle on the way to dinner and we were only there for 4 hours. 2 bottles was more than enough. My 22lb,28" long 6.5m old is not underfed like they claim.)
4) My MIL had to tell me that Lucas had a dirty diaper at Christmas. (note: My MIL was holding him.)

I will never win with this family. Luckily, DH is just as fed up as I am. I mean COME ON!!

We take Lucas to one of the most highly reguarded pediatricians in town. You have to apply to become a patient and not everyone is accepted into the practice. The pediatrician is thrilled with Piglet's growth, temperment, etc..
Whenever DH told his brother that we were following the pediatrician's recommendation on solid foods his brother's response was "Well he doesn't know WT*F he's talking about."
Yes. The kidless concrete mason who barely graduated high school knows more about the proper way to raise a child than the pediatrician. Sure.

People just amaze me!
:hug:People are DUMB.. When you have kids, especially when you are young.. EVERYONE thinks they should have a say. its irritating. My mom tries to give me her opinion.. But guess what? I dont want to hear it. and I tell her! I have four great, happy, healthy(for the most part.. ) kids.
Patsy, I'd be through, too. My family doesn't agree with how I do much of anything with Katie, but they know I'm too hard headed for them to change my mind! And they know that I am a good mother, even if I don't do things their way. His family is being very disprespectful to you.

I've had the week from hell. I worked all week, started my new class, and studied as best as I could for the 2 Praxis exams I took this morning. And I was so sick all week. I was having the "auras" again, and freaking out. I did call dh's cousin, a nurse practitioner, and ask if my sinus problems could cause them, and she said they could. Thankfully, I started feeling better yesterday with my sinuses, and the auras went away, too. My house was a disaster, we were almost out of clean clothes, and towels, and I was at my wit's end.

I took the tests today, and think I failed both of them. They were awful! Nothing like what I had heard from others, or what I had concentrated my studies on. And to top things off, my father just called from a relative's house (my mother's 1st cousin), and their son was just found dead in his truck on the side of the road, apparent heart attack. His wife called the younger son (my age) and had him go to tell their parents. He called their preacher on the way, and the preacher called my parents to meet him there. Daddy was crying, and I couldn't stand it and went to pieces.

On a brighter note, dh is on the good list right now. I got home thinking the house would still be a disaster and Katie would be hysterical. I was gone from 6am until 2pm. Instead, Katie was asleep, and my house was spotless! He did 4 or 5 loads of laundry, swept, mopped, did dishes, made the kids clean their rooms-everything!
:hug: Oh my goodness. Im so sorry for your family.

But YAY!! For your hubby!

What a freaking week! Kaylee has been SICK. Full on, barfing, coughing, pooping, sore throat, fever... just SICK! I took her to my local hospital to the ER when she got to the point where she couldnt keep water down. They ran blood tests, a urine test, and a lung xray. The blood tests came back a little off, which he put up to the vomiting and pooping.. Lung x-ray was good, but the urine test showed signs of a kidney infection. :scared1::scared1:So they transfered us to the childrens hospital.. Where they gave her some heavy duty antibiotics.. A huge shot in each leg. That was awful. Then they said it looked like a urinary tract infection.. Most likely from not wiping right when she was pooping. They eventually sent us home.. but it was a rough 20 hours or so.

I was so tired.. I fell asleep when they were giving us the discharge stuff. All the adrenaline just left my body, and I collapsed. My mother in law kept Alex and the babies for us.. First time we have left he babies with anyone, and they were MAD at me! they wouldnt come near me when I got home.

but Kaylee seems better now, thank goodness. Its been a rough two weeks here! We did get some good news yesterday though.. Our apartment complex has like 6 four bedroom apartments, and they dont come available very often.. One did a couple of weeks ago, and I asked about it, and its ours! So we get to move in the begining of Feb. :cool1::cool1: I cant wait!

Oh, man! That is awesome! Is the entire apartment bigger or does it just add bedrooms?
Either way, I bet your oldest two are excited- will they get their own rooms and then the twins will share for now?
I'm an unnaturally curious person, sorry! hehe.

DH has decided to take his frustration with his family out on some home improvement projects. My house will soon be covered in drywall dust again... so I'm just grateful I never got off my butt and cleaned yesterday. hehe.

Oh, you said your kids liked that mesh feeder thing, right??

I gave it to Lucas with a bit of mushed up banana and he's chewing on the handle. Go figure.

I'm not sure how to help him figure out that there is food on the other side haha.

Good to see you here, Piecey!;) Katie loves her mesh feeder with banana, but boy does it make a mess!

Staley, I'm so sorry you've had a rough time. I'm sure you are very excited about the apartment, though! 4 bedrooms sounds like such a dream.....

I didn't get much sleep. Katie started vomiting around 2 this morning. Not spitting up-soaked the bed, and covered me and dh. I don't see how her stomach held that much? And I had taken the mattress cover off to wash it, and since it wasn't dry we had put the clean sheets on without it.......which means my mattress is wonderfully soaked in vomit now.

We got cleaned up, put towels over the mattress, and tried to go back to bed. Dh and I were both exhausted. But she wanted to play! She didn't act sick at all. I took her to the living room to rock her, and she just wanted to nurse. I tried to distract her, but she wasn't having it, so I gave in. Well, about 4 she started vomiting again. All over us, the recliner (thank goodness it is leather!), and the living room floor. So we got a bath that time.

She still frantically tried to nurse, but I found a paci (she takes one at daycare, but hasn't used one at home over a dozen times, and not since she was a newborn). She took the paci and we all finally got a little sleep. We actually just got up about an hour ago, and she seems fine now.:confused3

Hey Guys ... I have a favor to ask. Does anyone still get Enfamil checks that they aren't using? I wanted to get a can or two to have on hand for DS #2. I am planning on BF but just in case. I still haven't recieved any samples or anyting from any of the companies ...

Patsy - What did you have to do to be eligible for WIC?

december, the person we were speaking of last night hasn't logged in today yet. I'm hoping he just doesn't notice or realizes it wasn't an insult. ;)

I gave him blueberries after the banana and he wasn't wild about it. I'm not sure what else to try. Can babies have cantaloupe? I've got some cut up in the fridge, might try that later... I know citrus is bad because of the acid but haven't read anything about cantaloupe. Hmmm..

That is strange about Katie?! It would have freaked me out for sure. I hope she doesn't have a relapse. Makes you wonder what might have happened to upset her tummy like that...

Christina,
I didn't get anything until Lucas was 4-5 weeks old. This time around I plan on just fibbing about my due date when I sign up so I get it sooner.

For WIC I just had to take DH's last two pay stubs and the letter from the VA stating that he's disabled, what percentage, yada yada (because he gets compensation for it) and Lucas' birth certificate.

Next time around I'll have to bring proof of pregnancy but I hadn't been to my OB so I didn't have anything. They also want Lucas' SSN but I can't find his card. I think I remember it but they said I can give it to them when I'm sure of what it is. I may just have to request a new card @ the local SS office.

You're in MA now, right?
I found this: www.mass.gov/wic

Are the income guidelines the same by state? Anyone know? MA and WVa. are the same.

Katie is fine so far today. She is taking her first nap of the day, since we slept so late this morning. I'm laying next to her, and asked dd10 to bring me the laptop. She ate some peaches for lunch. I have to get her some more applesauce-I tried one jar of that last week, and she inhaled it! I didn't get quite the same reaction from the broccoli and chicken I tried last week-she is still a little mad at me for that one:rotfl:

I never signed up for any coupons, so sorry I can't help with that. Katie is still on mostly breastmilk, with a couple of jars of food, and some table food each day.

Thanks ... I found those guidlines. I don't even know why I bother looking ... DH makes too much yet some months we struggle. Argh ..

Patsy - I set up a registery at Target and BRU to be able to get the completion coupon and I fibbed our due dates so that I don't get the coupons too late!

Ahhh, I didn't get coupons for a registry.

My friend, that is TTC, wants to throw me a shower but I think it's waaaay too soon after having Lukie, especially if it's another boy. I told her if she really wanted to do something she could do a get-together with a cake but I wasn't going to register anywhere.
She told me last night that her ****s are sore, she was craving Oreos (she hates chocolate) and that she was crying over a commercial... so she's thinking this is her month. I'm really hoping it is!!!

Caitty, those are the same income guidelines that WV has so I'm betting it's pretty universal... though I think rpramfamily (did I get that name right??) said the guidelines for HI are higher..understandably so!!
That is a little strange to me, though. Because the cost of living here is a lot lower than it is for other people... oh, well. I'm sure they have their reasons!

Fingers crossed for your friend Patsy!!

My mom and I were talking about a shower for Ryan ... but like you I don't feel comfortable having one since Alex is only 3. Granted we got rid of a TON of our stuff when we moved but that was our choice. We also didn't get much at our showers that was useful, mostly just clothes so we still had to get everything again.

I got a TON of clothes at Lucas' shower. I am almost out of them now, though. I got totally spoiled because I didn't have to do laundry for Lucas constantly because he had a ton of clothes...he's into 12m now though and I'm going to need to step up the laundry game. He might actually wear some of the 12m stuff out instead of wearing it just once like almost everything else so far! :rotfl:

I gave her the other test that was in the box with mine and she thinks that is a good sign- that we'll both get a BFP from the same box. She's a hoot, I love her. :)

:cool1:It was a magic box! :rotfl2:

TOTALLY!!!!

I went to her Facebook after I made the comment on here and she'd posted "The oreos don't tell a lie!" and I was like WHAT?! Does that mean what I think it means?! So I called her and she squealed as soon as she answered the phone. :rotfl: She was like "You must have seen my Facebook!!!!"
She said I'm the only one that knew the oreo thing (she ate them constantly before she miscarried last July and like I said, she doesn't like chocolate) so she put it on there for me!!

Yaaaaaaaaaay. Her hubby knows I'm bargain/coupon/sale crazy and when she said "We get to go shopping!" I heard him in the background say "At least if you with her we might save some money!" :rotfl:

I'm sooooooooooooo excited! She will only be about 4 weeks behind me.
She's going to go to my OB, too.
I wonder if my OB will get her in sooner than the customary 2-4 week wait with her history. :upsidedow

Man! I'm just so thrilled! :woohoo:

The whole apartment is bigger.. It is about twice the size of what we are in right now. :cool1: it has two master bedrooms, and one small room, adn one tiny room. The twins will get one master bedroom, Kaylee the smaller room, and Alex the smallest room.. Only because he has a loft bed, so he has all the space under his bed. Everyone is super excited. Especially ME!:lmao:

They did love it... especially chewing on the end!:rotfl2:
She is pregnant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1: AWESOME!!! I hope she has a healthy and uneventful pregnancy!!!!!!
