Just had to say that we returned from our first trip to the lodge last night, WOW! This place is amazing and we will be returning "home" again in the future. I was almost in tears when we had to leave on the 7th day. Like I said, we were spoiled this trip and are now HUGE fans of the Wilderness lodge.

Lesley and PMart

Beckie,
Thanks, yes I am hooked. I was telling my husband as we were leaving that I am now officially spoiled and when we do Disney again it will be at the WL. We just loved it. Especially the view for the fireworks nightly, and the lovely grounds, you just can't beat it. I also was told that the high speed internet will be up next month, which was frustrating for me because I teach courses online and my AOL connection just wouldn't work for some reason and had to treck over to the contemporary business center to get a connection. It will be VERY nice when they install the high speed there.

12pm to 5pm. Check out www.dismeets.com for more info. We have about 130 people attending so far. I feel like I have been planning for years!! Can't believe it is coming in less than a month.

The 2-bedroom Villas are beautiful and I would choose the Villas everytime.
Not sure how many are going to be traveling with you this trip, but I would also choose the 1-bedroom over Concierge if staying more than three days. Having the full kitchen and washer/dryer in the room is priceless. Plus you would have twice the sq. ft.

Beckie,
Oh, I agree that the 2 bdrm villas are beautiful. They just seemed a bit expensive for us when I price checked them last week. We would be a party of 4 ( 2 adults, 2 juniors) staying 7 nights. But we always book packages w/the meal plan. So, $$$$ adds up , kwim ?

I'm still going to run the numbers on a 1 bedroom villa though (we'd still have a pullout sofa bed right ?) Its just with the boys getting older ,they'll be 12&14 the next time we go to WDW, I really can't see them wanting to share a bed :sad2:

Uggg, so many decisions
:confused3

Just returned from our first family trip to WDW and a WONDERFUL stay at WL. The place is SO beautiful. I told my husband we would never be able to stay anywhere else. We had booked a standard room and requested bunkbeds and were upgraded to a courtyard view w/bunkbeds. My two boys loved it!

OPPS !!

This is also new: Reguarding upgrades to Concierge per the front desk all upgrade cost will now be the difference between the room rate you paid and the listed rate for the concierge room cost. (not sure of cost if you have an AP discount on your room)

Example:Value Season (concierge rate $360.00)
Standard View room rate $ 199.00=cost to upgrade $161.00 a night.
Woods View room rate $230.00=cost to upgrade $130.00 a night
Courtyard View room rate $255.00=cost to upgrade $105.00 a night

So if you want Concierge you should go ahead and book it at the listed rate, no more last minute check-in deals.

Beckie

Do you have any info on the cost to upgrade to concierge if you have a deluxe room (jr suite)? The room already costs more than concierge ($400). Thanks for any info.

The deluxe rooms (jr suites)- do they only come with king beds or do they have any other combination?? Also wondering about the cost.

Hum...I'm not sure you can add concierge to a deluxe room. I know that Mark said he would like to be able to offer it after the new lounge is completed but he wasn't sure if it would be possable. There are no Jr suites located on the 7th floor so at the most your room key maybe programed for 7th floor access. If you want Conciege access added you may want to call the Wilderness Lodge Concierge desk direct. Most of the Jr. Suites are located at the very ends of the wings (there are afew others located halfway down the South wing) if your room was located at the end of the wings it wouldn't be very convenient going back and forth to the 7th floor. Let us know if you are able to do this, sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Beckie

Thank you, Beckie! I did contact WL about a month ago and was told to ask about adding concierge when we arrive. The CM wasn't able to offer a price to include concierge if available. I guess I'll just see when I get there and report back :)

We love concierge but want the deluxe room for the space (and hopefully great views). Now I just have to get a room request and room number together and I am ready- can't wait! Its our first time to WL!
Thanks again,
Liz

Chris

Two of my nephews shared the queen size sofa this last trip age 20 & 12 year old. The 12 year old brought his Areo/Sleeping bag but didn't use it. Niether complained, they were at DisneyWorld. Don't know if they wanted to share but it wasn't an issue. When they hit the bed after a day at the parks, swimming or game rooms, they were out in a flash until we rolled them out of the bed the next morning.

But with a price difference of over $1287.93 in Value Season and $2146.38 in Regular Season (Fall Months) I wouldn't even think of the 2-Bedroom.

Beckie

THANK YOU Beckie!!!! :cheer2: You answered all of my questions, and then some. I did find the room layouts after I posted, but your picture is much clearer. DH will be happy with the layout. Thanks again. :teeth:

What is the likely hood of becoming a flag family? Is it very difficult to do or pretty possible?

Whats a flag family?
One family is allowed each morning to go on top of WL and raise the flags. It is an awesome expeirence with Stan, your guide. He is very fun and tells some great stories. From here, you have an excellent view of the resort and the MK. Stan will also take your families picture with the flags. Since there is only one family allowed each day, your likelyhood of being that family depends on how long you are staying. Ask at checkin to see if there is a spot available. You also get a cool certificate stating that you were the flag family on that date.

Hey everyone! This is only my second post on the boards but I have thoroughly enjoyed everyone's info and attitude! We are heading to WDW for the first time in Feb 2006 and of course we have booked a woods view room at the most awesome hotel ever, WL! We are so excited and can't wait, but we are also already thinking ahead. Is it too early to reserve a room for Dec 2006/Jan 2007? We want to be at WL for the first/second week of December 2006 and then again for the marathon 2007. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Thanks a mil!

I have learned from the boards that it is never too early to start planning, however I know that CRO has some number of days prior that you can book I think its like 350 or something, hopefully this will bump up so someone who knows can answer that. Good luck :bounce:

I thought I would let you all know that my Wilderness Lodge Photo Gallery has officially surpassed 100,000 views. It's obviously pretty popular. :)
