:wave2: Welcome my2girlsmom and fun and fancy free!

Regarding transportation- I found the WL transportation very efficient. You do share a boat to the MK and CR with Fort Wilderness but they split the day as to who gets picked up/dropped off first. If I recall, in the morning, the boat goes FW/WL/MK and in the afternoon it goes in reverse. I found the bus very efficient too- there is a bus directly to the TTC making it easy to get the monorail to places if you like that transport. You can also take the boat to the Contemporary to catch the Monorail too. And yes, taxis are available. >>

May I ask a trans. question too? What about going from WL to other resorts, such as AKL and Boardwalk? I definitely want to make some PS at their restaurants! Thanks!!

We take the boat to MK, and then the bus, if it is EMH at MK, we take the bus to TTC and switch there. The boat gets you somewhere faster, but waiting for the busses may take up to 15 minutes at either location. :moped:

Hi everyone,

I'm really excited to be going to WL 5/14 - 5/21 with not only my 2 dd's (first time anywhere...especially in an AIRPLANE)..but we're also taking my mom and dad (who can't wait to see their gd's expression at Disney)...

anyway...we've reserved 2 courtyard view rooms...(one with a king and one with a queen and bunks) and have requested connecting/adjacent.

Here's question 1: Can/should I request a specific room(s)? or location?
I'm a little concerned that if we're over the lobby, we'll hear a lot of the noise...not sure how it is looking out over the pool...

Question 2: I hear mixed reviews about the bus transportation to/from parks...are taxis available if we HAD to get from one place to another quickly?

any advice from the "vets" here would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Marion

If you put in your request ahead of time you stand a better chance of getting what you want rather than waiting until check-in to ask. But even then its not a sure thing. If you want a balcony with a view from your courtyard view room that your DD's can enjoy too, do not stay on the 6th floor on the north wing facing the courtyard. These have the enclosed balconies enclosed in the roof line. This is your choice just my opinion.

Things have changed so much and so many times since WL opened in 94' that its sometimes hard to keep up, so be prepared for that. However, other than the 6th floor experience, all the courtyard view rooms we've had were nice.

As far as buses go, they are "usually" a very good way to get around. Getting to the parks is no problem, DTD is easy as well as the water parks. When you check in they will give you a guide that will explain how to get to a specific place from anywhere in the park. Some are simple, some seem like a "you can't get there from here". If you are planning a breakfast or dinner at another resort, check out the best way to get there ahead of time.

We are going again 4-15 til 4-22, Woodsview, this will be our 10th time staying at WL, and wouldn't have it any other way.

I hope you have a Magical Time.

I'm hoping someone can answer a question for me.

Are there connecting rooms on the concierge floor at Wilderness Lodge? I don't remember.

Thanks in advance. :sunny:

We are booked at the WL for the first week of October with a woods view. Are certain same rooms on each floor equipped with the bunk beds, or is it fairly random? I am considering requesting the bunks because it's just my 2 DDs and me, but I don't want to eliminate the possibility of an MK view, or anything like that.

Also, are the bunk bed rooms the same size as the 2 bed rooms? I would assume they are, but just checking to be sure. It would be nice to have a few extra feet of floor space with the bunks.

Thanks!

I know at the Moderate and Value resorts there are some standard room locations that are better than others. I have often requested those locations and have found the WDW staff to be very accomodating. Is there a preferred Standard location that I could/should request when confirming our reservation before travel? Is one wing better than another? one floor better than another? I would appreciate any advice. . .

The Bunk beds are spread throughout the Lodge, so your request for MK View and bunk beds should be no problem if available at check-in. Just remember both are request/not guaranteed the CM's will try and meet your request if at all possable.

Yes all the rooms are the same size (other then suites or deluxe rooms) the bunk beds will give you extra floor space.
Have a great stay.

I couldn't remember either so I just called Mark Newman Guest Service Manager for Concierge at Wilderness Lodge, Mark said that yes the Concierge level does have connecting rooms King size bed that would be barrier-free (handicap-accessible) that connects to a two-queen room., and also a two-queen bed that connects to one-queen and bunk-bed room. He said they have several connecting combinations that they can offer.

I would suggest North Wing higher floor, as my preference for a standard view.

MagicInMyHeart,

Thank you. We currently have a suite booked but my MIL is coming down in 3 weeks to help with our baby due in April.

She is going to stay for our trip to WL and I'm trying to figure out what would be the best room combo for us.

Thanks for the info! :sunny:

While on the phone with Mark Newman, he said that the construction on the new lounge area should start by the end of this month...hopefully the new area will be completed within 2 months 3 at the latest so by May all should be ready.

hmm I don't come to this end of the boards for a while and oh MY
first I couldn't find you... and now...what addition... I quess I will have to read back!
HEY FRED - I am wondering (and I am sure as i read back I will find the answer but incase I don't) How was it with the little one at the Lodge - did you spend a lot of time hanging out there -
we are going April 16th for 4 nights and only plan to hit the parks two days and a waterpark one day - we loved the lodge and regretted that we were on the go our entire 10 day trip the last time and didn't enjoy all it had to offer!
I booked woodsview...I think I got a decent rate...
Of course I requested bunks (2 older kids), MK view
last time I was also spoiled by a little 'ghost' - I think and granted an upgrade from standard to a GORGEOUS courtview and now I am wondering what have I done - lol will I be happy staring at trees (as I do here at home already!) :confused3

Last May we had a small DIS Meet @ the Wilderness Lodge, Fred, Jeanne, Marcel and myself visited the 7th floor and Mark Newman gave us a tour of the concierge level. At that time Mark notified us that the Lodge was going to try and get approval to add a new lounge area for concierge. (it will be located in what Mark said was unused areas next to the Honeymoon Suites) They had to wait for architectural approvals as well as budgets ect. ect. Mark said yesterday everything was now ready to go ahead and they should have a lounge on the concierge level within the next few months.

Just got back from WL yesterday - what a wonderful hotel! I do believe it is my new Disney favorite. We had a flawless check in last Saturday, and recieved an upgrade from woodsview to courtyard view - We were in 5115 - had a view of the stream, pool, and could see the lake as well. We were able to watch the water parade one night while on the balcony! We used the balcony a lot, DS loved going out there in the evening. Loved the coffee service in the room - called for a fridge, it was delivered while we were in the MK. Very easy taking the boat over to the park, then used the monorail system as needed. I also liked the fact that the parking is more convenient than the other deluxe hotels. Unless you do valet, you are really talking a long walk to get to the lobby. I didn't get that feeling here. Our mousekeeper Norma was fantastic, made cute washcloth animals, and kept our room spotless. I also like being connected to the main area, no more outbuildings for me! What a great stay!

So glad you enjoyed your stay at WL, great upgrade to Courtyard View. Also glad you enjoyed the coffee, and had no problems with requesting the fridge.

I don't think that my family will be able to stay the entire stay at WL this May. We are looking at staying at POFQ first and then the last couple of nights at WL. Will we get new room keys? or will they reprogram the ones we have?

I thought someone had said Dis would move our luggage? Is this true? Can someone share with me your experiences?

Hi folks! What a great thread!

We're checking into a 'woodland view' room at the WL on 3/14. I'm familiar with the layout of the resort, and have a couple of questions-

1) Can anyone tell me where the non-smoking woodland view rooms are located?

2) Are coffee makers provided?

3) In case they aren't, is the coffee at Roaring Forks the same Nescafe swill that is available at the other resorts? That might impact our decision on the purchase of refillable mugs.

Thanks!

Hi,
Yes that's true, your luggage will be moved free of charge. You can do it couple ways but the easiest is on evening before you check out, let the front desk at PO know you are switching to WL the next day, then just leave your packed bags in your room by the door and bell service will pick them up, and transfer them to WL bell service/baggage strorage. Then when you check in at the WL and your room is ready, call bell service and they will deliver your bags to you in your room.

And yes, you will be issued new room keys at the WL as they only are programmed and dated for the dates you actually stay at a certain resort.

Hope this helps,
Phil

There was a 4 cup coffee maker on the table in the room, with a couple of mugs. A coffee pack is supplied (reg and decaf), as well as packages filled with coffee complements. I don't know exactly what brand of coffee it is, but I am a little picky about coffee, and this was fine. There was also a couple of tea bags provided as well.

Can anyone give me an update on WL transporation? I read somewhere that they made some changes back in November. How does it work? Thanks from a newbie!
