I am confused about this though- they didn't mention that bunk beds weren't in standard rooms when I made my request for the bunk beds. It is not a huge problem if we don't get the bunk beds, but it would be nice.

Do you know if there is a charge for the fridge if it is not already in the room?

Thank you again so much for your help!!!

I know all the information can be a bit much we had a CM that worked at Wilderness Lodge help us with the information we have posted on PAGE 1. The post on page one has useful information about the Lodge and the activities available to guest.
Room information:
STANDARD ROOMS: All Non-Smoking rooms with 2 Queen Beds.
Located on Floors 4,5 & 6. On the North(MK) side, they face the service area. There are also 4th floor rooms that overlook the lobby and look out to roof peaks. Lobby rooms do have balconies.

The reason I said wait until you are in your room to request a fridge is that the CM at the front desk has more options available to upgrade you if you don't have many request that you have asked for. There is no longer a charge for a refrigerator if available.

Most people aren't awear they have been upgraded because the views are simular in some standard/woods views. But bunk beds are a great request because if you receive them you'll be in a Woods View room.

Beckie

I'll be at WDW tomorrow I will try and find out about the Bunk Beds in Standard rooms as we all know thing do change

Don't hate me, but I have to sign-off for a few days leaving for WDW in the am and have to pack. Should be back late Monday everyone have a great week-end.

Thank you very much for the responses. I did rent from a DVC member so I will have her make my requests for me. Near an elevator, overlooking the pool...anything else?

Wow, I have been reading this info for HOURS! Thank you for all the great tips...now to decide whether or not I should do concierge for 3 nights... :confused3

Hi! Does anyone know if there is a Deluxe room in the resort that is fairly close to the villas? We are staying in a one bedroom, but the rest of the family will get a deluxe room. Are these hard to get? They haven't reserved for July 3 to 10th yet due to some health issues.

Also, does AAA discount ever apply to these deluxe rooms, or any other discount for that matter? Thanks!

I have heard that the LODGE is booked solid at our time of stay this year
So probably NO chance of getting one of those FABULOUS upgrades to concierge at a great rate right :sad2:
I must have misread along the way - I THOUGHT that Woodsview would give me a MK view - are those all standard rooms??
You could put me in a closet once I am there -
(at least my ressie says 1 queen and bunks with crib (not full size) requested not guarenteed!)
but all this reading and thinking about it makes it all worse for the time being - - lol :rotfl:

Ok, I have spent so long reading this thread. I almost feel like I am on information overload!! This will be our first trip staying at the Wilderness Lodge. This trip we have 5 adults, a 14 yr old, 4 yr old, and a 7 month old. So we had to get two rooms. Here is what I am trying to figure out. I REALLY want a room with a magic Kingdom view. We have reserved a woods view room. Is there a specific set of rooms I should ask for that have a view of the Magic Kingdom? Is the 6th floor all smoking rooms? For non smokers, if you have ever stayed in a smoking room is the smell really bad? I am a smoker so I wouldn't notice. My mother and father in law don't smoke, but my sister in law will be sharing a room with them and she smokes so I am sure she would like to at least be able to go out on the balcony and smoke. Any information anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance,
Dana

First of all, let me say "I love this thread..." I am very psyched I talked my wife into going back to the world this May, (the AP rates pushed her over the edge). We have wanted to stay at WL since the first time we visited there to rent boats. I have 2 standard view rooms booked. I am reading about this room location stuff and and I want to see if I can sum it up.

If you have a standard room booked you really have a few options. You could just take the standard anyway you get it and not worry at all about it. Or you could not worry until you get there and then just ask for an upgrade at check-in. Like always, this may or may not work with your chances better during regular and value season. Another option would be to call back and pay the money for a woods or courtyard view. All of these are pretty basic options.

Now you can keep your standard view and try to put in a request. This is where it gets a little confusing. Some say you don't want North wing standards becsause the service area is noisy and smelly. Others say it's not that bad. And also the hurricane knocked down some trees so again there are some North wings standards that allow a view of Wishes. You can request main lobby room but some say they are too noisy. There are standard, main lobby rooms right? Others say it's not that bad. What about the south wing standard rooms. How are they?

Am I correct in saying that any room request you put into the system prior to your arrival make it less likely that you will be able to get upgraded at check in?

Seanmci -
yo uare sooo right
these threads are FULL of contradictions based of peoples personal experiences and opinions!

Personally you could put me in a closet at the WL and I would be happy there (but I hope it is a clset with bunks and a view ;)

I had requested bunks and an ajoining room last stay - and didn't get the bunks but got an upgrade from Standard to Courtview -
so I don't think it makes a HUGE difference if you aren't asking for a specific location! If you ask for room # or floor # then I bet it would - don't relaly know for sure though!

I hope you enjoy the magic of the WL!

Oh We will. The view doesn't matter to me really, I however would probably not want to listen to delivery trucks backing up in the AM.

Just wanted to pop in and say hello to my fellow WLVets! It's been a while and I am really busy with other things (good things!) right now but I haven't forgotten you all! :)

This thread is getting me pumped up about our trip. We are going to be staying at the VWL. I really enjoy our WL trips in January. To me it feels right to be there in the winter. I'm not so sure about April? I'm worried about how croweded it will be, especially at the pool. I really wanted to get excited about our stay. My brother's family is going to WDW for the first time and they wanted to stay at the WL, so that's why we did the Villa's. The WL was not my first choice so I hope it will be great just like our other trips :)

I was wondering about you :sunny: Glad to hear you are up to Good Things!!

Does anyone know if the otter ponds view rooms (mainly 5012 - 5032) have bunkbeds? We are trying to get a Magic Kingdom view and were told these rooms should have them (with a woods view booking) but we also wanted bunk beds. Just hoping that we can get both. Thanks for any info.

I was curious if the Lodge has finished putting in the refrigerators into all the rooms, or will I most likely have to request one when I check in.

I will be there in May, 12-21 2005

Has anyone been able to use the dining plan credit (perhaps a counter service credit) for the food in Territory Lounge? The potato skins, fruit and cheese plate sound much better than Roaring Forks. Of course, We'd be happy to buy a drink too ;)
