The NEW WL FAQ (Part 5) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

I believe they are standard size bunks....single mattress. My son is very tall (6'6") and he makes himself fit in them, on the top, no less....in my opinion, they would be best for someone under 6', as there is an "end" of sorts on them....for climbing into (on the top) and to hold the mattresses in place.

Good afternoon WL Vets!

Newbie here. I've stayed at two Mods in the past, POR and POFQ. We loved POFQ - the quaintness of it was wonderful.

We're planning a return trip this year for FREE DINING 9/24-10/1!!!! I already have POFQ reserved, but am now considering switching to WL Courtyard after seeing all those amazing pics on this site. We visited WL once for a dinner at WCC and loved the atmosphere! I think my daughters will really love the bunk beds!

I have a few questions: If we decide to change the reservation to WL, it will add approx 150 per day. Not bad in my opinion (although DH may think otherwise). If I requested a non-smoking bunk bed room (courtyard view) (North Bldg from what I can tell) is that possible?

Also, do the rooms have refrigerators and small coffee makers like POFQ does?

My daughters love the pool at POFQ when we were there two years ago. I assume now that their older, they will love the WL pool/slide as well. Can anyone let me in on how the slide/pool is? Are there usually enough chairs to lounge by the pool?

Roaring Forks is a food-court, right? My old Passporter indicates there is no food-court at WL. It's the 2004 version...???

Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated! I don't know if it will happen (the change) but I'd like to have all the facts before "presenting" to DH.

Thank you!!!

Hi Jacki! I must admit I'm jealous you are going during the free dining deal, we're going in June, paying rack rate and not getting ANY discounts (o.k. I'll stop my whining now : ). I think trying a new resort is a great idea and of course I think you will LOVE WL. To answer your questions, yes, your request is possible but not a sure thing as they won't guarantee it but it's worth a shot. We love the Woodsview, we had a room that we could see the MK fireworks from and loved it.
We love the pool at WL, never have a problem finding a chair poolside and it is just so relaxing. The slide is nice, goes kind of fast, I'm sure your kids will love it. They will love the gyeser that goes off poolside too!
Yes, Roaring Forks is a food court, I'm sure they have a copy of the menu on allearsnet.com you could give it a try. We are very happy with the selections there, all meals are offered, the dining plan can be used there for meals and snacks and you can do refillable mugs to if you like those. We LOVE Whispering Canyon too, if you stay there you have to give this sit down restaraunt a try and you can use the dining plan there as well.
Good luck with planning and have a GREAT trip!!!

I have great news! Right now we are 99% confirmed and hoping to book soon a stay at Wilderness Lodge August 18-24!! I'm going to print out the beginning of this thread and make a binder for this trip like we did last year. While it's a few months away, going at the end of August is a great way to pass the summer and do something great before another year of college.

love all the pics and info. I added two nights onto our stay and we will be staying here! looks like a beautiful resort :sunny:

WE ARE LEAVING IN 7 DAYS :cool1:  ! This will be our first stay at WL.

We booked at courtyard room. Now, I know this may be crazy, but from reading this thread, it sounds to me that a woodview is better. I am truly considering asking for a woodsview upon arrival. I don't want any $$ back, but I would love to see the castle while in our room.

Has anyone ever changed catagories upon arrival? Is a woodsview better than a courtyard view?

I try to book the lest expensive room on most stays. I have stayed in both Woods View and Courtyard View rooms many times, I have always enjoyed the Woods View but would never give up an inner Courtyard View over a Woods View.

Hope you have a Wonderful Trip.

Yes..you can have a Courtyard in the North Wing :) All rooms at the WL have small fridges..I'm not sure about coffee makers..I know concierge does..but can't remember if the regular rooms have them as well, I don't think so though. The pool slide is rather short..but my DD's always have alot of fun on it. I usually don't have a problem getting a lounge chair by the pool, but I don't go during the really busy times of the year. Hope that helps :)

Yup, all the room have coffee makers!

I am ordering some groc & having them delivered to us. my question is regarding the size of the fridge. Should I order 2 1/2gallons of milk or 1 1gallon of milk?? Which would fit best in the fridge?

The two 1/2 gallons would be a better use of space but keep in mind, with 2 1/2 gallons of milk, there will not be much room for anything else.

You could get you milk for the Merchantile and get 1/2 gallon as you need it and have more room for your other cold items. The price of the milk there is reasonable.

thank you - i'll try it that way.

Sorry if this has been asked before - I can't find it. Anyways, exactly what beverages are available for the refillable mugs at Roaring Forks? We are trying to decide whether or not to purchase them. We bought mugs when we stayed at POP and they were worthwhile - coffee every morning for DH and myself. The kids loved the frozen coke and whatever the frozen blue stuff was?!? If we can make our own coffee in the morning, DH and I won't likely get our money's worth out of the mugs. If the frozen drinks aren't available at WL, I'm not sure that the kids will either. If anyone can list the beverages, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks, Lori

We were just there a few weeks ago and they did not have the frozen drinks. We just got two mugs for my sons to get hot chocolate and soda. We brewed coffee with the packs they gave us in the room. We had purchased milk to keep in the fridge for the coffee and added some to the hot chocolate to cool it down.

I am so excited, I had to share here on this thread -- we are going to the WL in 29 days! Woo~hoo! We have been there one other time a few years back. We loved it and now I get to return. This resort is very popular and difficult to get a standard room in during the summer. We usually end up going somewhere else. Well, decided to take our trip a little earlier in the summer this year and voila! availability!

I must read through this whole thread and really get psyched up about going. Anyone been there recently with interesting tidbits of info? Roaring Forks is open again, isn't it?

:yay:

So what is different about Roaring Forks now? Is it bigger? More offerings? In a new location?
