What other outside views do standards have? I thought they were kinda yucky anyway, aren't they?
While I wouldn't mind any of the rooms at Wilderness Lodge, the other area where the standard view rooms are have a view overlooking a drive-way and service area, if you look straight down. They also have one great thing going for them and that's the possible view of the Castle and Wishes fireworks as they face toward the Magic Kingdom.

On the room lay-out the other standard view rooms would be located in the North Wing #'s 042, 044, 046, 048, 050, 052, 054, 056, 058, 060, 062 064 and 066 on floors 4, 5 and 6 (there isn't a 2nd floor or 3th floor in this area and the 7th floor would be concierge)

Thanks for all your help. I have to ask, do you work there? Youv'e got the layout down!!!

Tracy :rotfl2:

The room lay-out was in fact made by another WL Vet Ronald Duck. (Thanks Ronald)

The Tag Fairy hasn't bestowed the tag or title on all the veterans that help on this thread. She/He wouldn't have time to visit all of us.

There are so many that enjoy visiting the Wilderness Lodge then they share the information. We have been collecting the facts on this thread continuously for almost 5 years now. That's quite a few visits between all of us. I guess I've stayed at either the Lodge or the Villas over 25 times in 12 years.

Even with all the information we have there are some questions we can't answer...but one of us will try and find out. Then post the answer, it may take a few weeks but we usually get the answer.

So I have been there done that, but I don't get paid for anything. Even though my family has said for years I should work or get paid by Disney.

Beckie

Beckie, I agree with your family! You know more than the people that book the ressies thats for sure! Disney should at LEAST comp you a room or two :thumbsup2 Let me ask you this, Do you suppose the people that handle the room requests really do their best to place you? How do they do it? Do they go back to who books first if there area several requests for the same area? I don't want to aggravate them by putting to many requests in ya know? ( this floor, this section, this view, this color carpet) :teeth:

I'm sure this question has been answered in the past 290 pages of posts, but I'm afraid I don't have the energy right now to go through all of them (I did get up to page 7...).

We will be staying at the WL for 3 nights in July 2007. We are a family of DH, DW (me), DD4 and DD2. I booked a standard room. I will be sending in a request a few days prior to our arrival. The biggest concern I have is getting a quiet room. We always come back to the room in the afternoon for a nap. What would be the best room/area to ask for?

Thanks,
TikiG

See now your asking about the MAGIC. All I know is that a few days before your arrival the computer downloads the information from CRO. The new reservations with the arrival dates, type room (view) booked and departure date. I do know the assigners manage to do a great job. I try and keep my request as simple as possible with the main request 1st, by not requesting much there is always room for the assigner to maybe upgrade. I have never requested a room # just the area I would like to be in. In your case...room located off Lobby.

While the members here on the DIS-Boards know the many options available at the resorts. (If they read and ask questions) Most guest that book have no idea about requesting a certain area or location, so don't worry. The assigners won't think your crazy. Just keep it simple and remember it's just a request, if they can meet it they will.

We always go back to the Lodge for a break in the afternoon, with the doors closed I have never heard any external noise...unless it was out of the ordinary. Guest walking past your room talking you wouldn't hear...a child running down the hallway screaming at the top of their lungs...you are going to know something is going on. If your children are asleep I don't believe it would wake them. Now if the said screaming child is staying in the room next to your and there happens to be a connecting door :confused3 It all depends on several factors and luck.

I have stayed over the loading docks and with the slider door closed I never heard any traffic or noise from that area. Some guest have reported the standard rooms off the Lobby can hear the noise from WCC at certain times. I have stayed in a Courtyard room off the Lobby and never heard any noise from the restaurant.

You need to make all your request through CRO so that it's on your reservation. The Lodge doesn't except fax's nor do I believe would you be able to speak with the room assigner. You can also make sure the Cast Member at check-in knows about your request. You could also ask at check-in that your room not be a room with a connecting door to another room.

Oh and you did great making it to page 7, most visitors don't read page 1, which has loads of great information.

Hope you have a great trip.

We just returned tonight. The love bugs were annoying, but they seem to have subsided a bit since last Saturday when we arrived. We did still see them today, but they are not as bad as they were.

Seriously, they are harmless. After you experience it for a day or so at it's peak - you won't even notice them!

Enjoy your trip. You will LOVE it!!!!

BUGS!?! Someone please tell me about these bugs.

Beckie, Thanks again for all your help and I'm sure I'm not done with you yet. Here's a question you may not be able to answer! How many hours do you have invested into this site? You are amazing! :surfweb: Tracy

Yaksack

Love Bugs are small flies that are in the process of mating when they swarm over the roads.here in the southern Gulf States. So usually there are two individuals: the large one is the female and the small one is the male. The female usually gets her way and she drags the male around with her.

They're quite seasonal. They do occur early in the spring (May) here for a few weeks while the adults are out in a mating flight. And we may see another mating flight later in the fall (September) of the year.

The fall season is almost over I only saw 1 pair yesterday.

We're going to stay in WL Concierge (7th floor) for the first time this coming December. As I vaguely recall from 3 visits to the WL, I ~think~ the 7th floor rooms do ~not~ extend the full length of the north and south wings.

I've seen the popular map of the Wilderness Lodge rooms (users.hartwick.edu/heydukr/wlrooms.htm). But it gives the impression that all floors, 4th and up, have the same range of numbers. Could someone please confirm how far out the 7th floor rooms go in each wing?

Many thanks.

You are absolutely correct, it's great for looking up areas and general lay-out of the Lodge but it isn't 100% accurate, but it's real close. The 7th floor only has 4 rooms that have direct access to the Lobby (4 Honeymoon Suites) there are no other rooms in this area as the Old Faithful Club and the seating for concierge is located here. The rooms only extend down the first section of the wings so if looking at the MAP the last rooms on this floor are 7042 & 7043 on the North side of the building, 7120 & 7121 on the South wing with the Presidential Suite and Vice-Presidential Suites located on the corners of each wing. The 7th floor ends at the secondary wing elevators.

Thanks sooooo much for the detailed response. What you say makes lots of sense. You're truly awesome.

Thanks again!

WELCOME to the DIS-Boards & the WL FAQ Thread

Just noticed you are new member to the DIS-Boards. What dates is your trip scheduled this December we have a list of all the DIS-members that will be visiting the Wilderness Lodge over the Holiday Season would love to add your dates to our list.

Beckie

Many thanks for the welcome! We're planning to be there Dec. 18th - 27th. This will be our 4th visit to the WL. We love the place and just can't get enough of it.

This will be our first time trying out both the Villas for a few nights and then Concierge (thanks to the great Room Only code we found on Mousesavers this weekend). After visiting at Christmas time in 2005, we absolutely ~knew~ we had to return for another holiday visit! We couldn't think of a better way to celebrate our 25th anniversary this year!!

OK! We are only 16 days away from our first WL stay. I was so excited with this choice but I am starting to second guess the resort and no day bed.

A queen is NOT good for dh and I. We were planning on each taking a kid. That sounded good, but they are both crazy sleepers and feet in my face is not a good night sleep.

I want a King with bunk beds or sofa bed! Or a King and 2 sleeping bags would even due!

I know that those are not available, right?

We stay at the SLC at the GF last time and got the lodge tower room with a sitting area and second TV. We are spoiled now. The kids took turns on the sofa and the other slept with one of us in the queen beds.

Someone please stop my head from spinning!

Other than booking two rooms, one room being a room with a King size bed the other having two Queen size beds you are out of luck at the Wilderness Lodge. Even the King size bed is only a request so you may still not get what you wanted. :confused3

BUT what you want is available over at the Villas of Wilderness Lodge, it's called a One-bed room Villa.
