Is getting a bunk bed room kind of luck-of-the-draw for the remainder of 2006? I know the new pricing matrix for 07 includes a seperate price level for bunk bed rooms, but we are visiting in October and would realllly like a bunk bed room if possible. What do I do? Just list it as a request and see what happens? :confused3 TIA

We are going in Sept and my dd is hoping for a bunk bed room. I have it listed as a request. I have no idea if we will get it or not though.

Greetings Everyone: I wanted to post a couple questions for the WL Vets.

I am heading down to WDW for the marathon January 4-8. I am going to stay at WL the night before the marathon, 1/6, and the night after the marathon 1/7. I was able to book a studio in WL Villas through a friend's DVC discount.

First question: Do any of the studios have a view of MK, or is the view blocked by the main building of WL? Should I make a special request for a studio with the Woods View towards the lake? Would that help me see MK?

Second question: My DD8 princess: is having her 9th birthday the day before the marathon, January 6th. Would WCC be a good place to go for her b-day dinner? Do they do anything special for b-days? Would she be the center of attention too much because she sometimes gets a little shy - but only sometimes. I thought it would be good to turn in early the night before the marathon (I need to be on the bus to the starting line around 3-4am on Sunday, January 7th), and WCC would be a good easy place to have the b-day dinner.

Thanks for the help and advice.

Do you know *when* they are adding more bunk bed rooms? Is it part of this renovation, or will it be done in the future? Will they be available in all views?

I am asking because we are really hoping for a bunk bed room for our August 26- September 2 (2006) trip, and more BB rooms would mean better chances to get one.

Thanks! :thumbsup2

I'm not sure when. My friend didn't say. But she did say that it was because of the "new category" starting next year. If I can get some verification I will sure try. :)

Dizneykid, thanks for the pics

We are booked in a courtyard for last week of Sept and hoping for bunks.

Was that a DVD player on the desk?

Yes, it is. They have DVD players only in the Club Level Rooms.

I can answer your first two questions and will need help from another WL vet for number 3.
For number 1: If you are traveling by boat if the park opens by 9:00 I would catch the boat between 8:00-8:15 to allow plenty of time if you go to Fort Wilderness Campground before the park. If by bus if you are on the bus by 8:30 you would be at the gates for the opening ceremony no problem.
As for Epcot, it took us 35 minutes to get there, our friends who just got back said it took them 40 minutes. That being said if it opens at 9:00 I would be on a bus between 8-8:15.
My husband went to DTD for a movie this past summer and it took him 60 minutes to get to DTD, he almost missed the movie. So I would plan accordingly.

Thank you for the info! That's about what I was guessing, but my DH kept telling me he thought that we would be leaving for the parks too early.

Anyone else know about getting from CG to the WL at night after the boats have stopped? I'm starting to think we may need to just splurge on a cab for simplicity, but if anyone else knows a convenient route let me know. Thank you!

It would make sense for them to put new Bunkbeds in the rooms when they were renovated. I can't see switching beds once the revovations are done

My DH and I have a very late arrival, and will be checking into WL probably after 11:30 pm. Do they ever over book? I am so worried about checking in so late, but we have no choice. We are going Aug. 22nd, so the lodge will probably be close to full, right? Is there a chance they will have to send us to another resort if they overbook? I am really looking forward to our first stay at WL..... I love this thread! It has been so helpful! Thanks everyone!

If you have a room booked for the 22nd..don't worry about it :) You may want them to note your reservation though, that you will be checking in very late..and let them know what time.

Yes..the main building of the WL would block your view towards the MK from the Villas. I don't know what the Villa's views are like, as I have never stayed in them, sorry :( My DD Jenna had her 4th Birthday at WCC..we ordered a special cake for her and they had the whole restaurant sing to her..she is shy too..but she was loving all the attention she got from the servers :)

If you talking about diner Friday night would that be Sept 1st? If it is the Magic Kingdom is open until 10:00pm.The transportation to the Lodge will still be running, you could either ride the Resort Monorail around to the MK then either take the Green Flag Boat over to the Lodge or take the direct bus. You could also walk from the CR to Magic Kingdom, if you do this I would just take the bus as it will be closer to the walk-way.

3. We're having our annivesary dinner at CG at 9:10 on a Friday night, so I assume we won't be finished until 10:30 or so. The boats between the two hotels stop at 10pm, correct? So what would be the best way to get back to WL after our dinner? (Walk to MK and take a bus? A cab?)

We are getting so excited for our trip! Only about 4 weeks to go!

TIA :)

I'm thinking..it looks like you will be going when the MK is open until 10pm..so monorail/boats/buses should run at least until 11pm, probably later..I would ask guest services that day. If so, I would take the monorail from the Contemporary over to the MK and then either take the bus or boat to the WL. If you're not sure you can get over to the MK before 11..I would probably take a cab :) One time I was concerned about being at Rainforest at AK..and having no ride back. The bus driver assured me "Please don't worry.. Disney would never leave any of it's guests stranded at a park" :)

Thanks Lisa, that was very helpful. I think I am going to go with WCC for the b-day dinner celebration. We also have a ressie for Cindy's royal table for a b-day breakfast that day so there'll be lots of celebrating.

Yes, we will be there Sept 1. So it sounds like no matter what, we need to get to the MK, eh? Excellent. I am overplanning the details a bit, but I can't stand not being informed about options!

Thank you so much for the info!

Good to know we won't be stranded. :)

I think we'll just wait and see how tired we are, and how much money we are willing to spend on transportation after our expensive meal! Thank you so much. :wave2:

ITA! And I hope you are right!! pixiedust:

Does anybody who's been since the renovations know if the dataports on the new TVs are at the front (like they were on the old TVs)? We like to review our digital photos each night and this would be helpful!

Thanks!
