The NEW WL FAQ (Part 5) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY! Part 2

I am unable to get the discount for Feb on my already booked courtyard view room at the WL. Have been offered a studio at VWL for a savings of $500. What can you tell me about the studio rooms? I have heard that they are pretty barren and not very well decorated? Any information or pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Definitely go for the Villas. I think the rooms are actually nicer. They are decorated similar to the Lodge but more spacious. Ask for a view of the lake on an upper floor and you won't be disappointed. They have a queen size bed and an full size open up couch and the open up couch is comfortable to sleep in. You'll have a mini fridge, toaster, micro, and coffee pot. If I knew how to post pics I would as I have plenty. Did you consider renting points from a DVC member, you can do it right here on this website. One week will run you about $1000 - $1200 in a villa depending on the season. Good Luck! :surfweb:

Hey, Majestic...just wanted to let you know that one of the best memories we have from WL is finding your wonderful box...in the dark!!!! I know it is no longer there and why, but we had a great time with it!
Michele

What a wonderful memory Michelle, thanks for sharing. I'm sure so many other people reading here could post similar accounts associated with that little long-missing box. I never tire of reading the smallest details associated with each different family's memories, (and the joys recounted in such posts).

I used to enjoy reading all the fresh-new stories and posts from those who had recently returned after "hunting" for the box (wow...2tinksmom--in the DARK too!) alongside their excited exuberant children. It was synonymous with a "treasure" hunt! You spread a lot of JOY, PIXIEDUST and MAGIC with that little box. It was along the lines of the spirit of Floridacat and many others who so enjoyed sharing secrets and adventure about their beloved resort. :lovestruc

I know those efforts will never go unnoticed. Such generous and philanthropic karma lives on and on through all the hearts and souls you personally touched Fred. You have blessed many via a pure and simple act...and that will never be forgotten. I will always recall the good old days of Majestic, and the magical memory box. :goodvibes :cloud9: :wizard:

Hi Fred!! :wave2: You are still up to the same wonderful things (organizing and keeping track of DISers planning to meet at the WL), and never cease to amaze me with your generosity of both time and infinite Disney spirit! Just popping by to say "hello" and wish my best to you and your family. When ever I think of the WL, I always think of you (& Kimmar too), and the magical memory box...etc. All things wild and wonderful synonymous with this phenomenal resort!! ^_^

Hope life is perfect on your end, in every respect. Enjoy the evening and all the Holiday festivities with your little ones. :cloud9: :goodvibes Halloween is one of my favorites, and this one will be no different! Time to go and carve a couple DISNEY characters into the pumpkins...

Always,

Hello!

We just returned from our magical stay at the Lodge. It was very relaxing and everyone who worked there was so friendly.

We had room 6046 which was a standard. We could see the Magic Kingdom through the trees. And one night, we were able to see Wishes from our balcony.

Here are some pictures of the rehab:

We loved everything about the lodge. My only complaint was, as I mentioned earlier, the smell of cigarette smoke in the bathroom area. It was most annoying when I would take a bubble bath at night. I put in a complaint with the front desk, or someone, and they said they would investigate it, but the smell never got any better.

did they change the railings on the balconys? when we where there last year when you sat on your chair you couldnt see through the railing very annoying hope they changed them so you can see

I have ressies for this Dec4-10 and have a courtyard view, what is the difference between a inner and outer courtyard view..

Thanks

My wife and I are going to the Lodge for 6 days to celebrate our 15th Anniversary. I have taken to heart the advice I have read here. Thanks to all the posters :cheer2: . I requested an inner courtyard view and made my ADR's Any last minute suggestions would be appreciated (other than bringing the 4 children :joker: / they come in 2007). Does anyone have an update on the Lodge's condition and where the renovations are taking place now? Thanks

HI,

I'm wondering if anyone here has successfully used the dining plan at Roaring Forks for breakfast. What can you generally get? Do the kids order the regular platter? What's usually able to be included? When we were there two years ago breakfast for my daughter consisted of a banana, grapes, and a hard boiled egg or two. I'm just wondering if I would be able to get any of that on the dining plan, or if I'd have to pay OOP for those.

Thanks for any help -

They have revamped all the counter-service restaurants at the resorts including Roaring Forks. They now cater to the DDP and for breakfast you can get the Abundant Breakfast Platter which includes eggs, bacon, pancakes and a drink (coffee or juice) which will count as your counterservice for the day but probably can be shared. You can also just get pancakes or eggs etc with many of the fruit and pastry options that count only as your snack. Disney has designed this plan to be easy for guests to use at their resort hotel and all the parks. Even though I am a DVC member with either a efficiency or full kitchen in my room, I purchase the DDP because it really is a good value. I no longer pack a seperate carryon with breakfast foods and snacks as it is no longer necessary. You'll have plenty of options with the plan the next time you go.

The Inner Courtyard View are the rooms that the balconys overlook the main feature pool with a slide (Silver Creek Springs Pool) and the following views.
Waterfalls @ WL.

View of Silver Creek Springs Pool & Bay Lake @ WL.

The Outer Courtyard view rooms are all located on the south side of the South Wing and overlook the Villas @ Wilderness Lodge and the quiet pool located at Villas, Hidden Springs Pool.

If you click on the link below you will see the basic lay-out of the Lodge. Rooms # 130(even #'s only) thur 164 are outer courtyard views. On the room lay-out Inner Courtyard Views are also shown.

It's hard to tell but from LoraJ photos that was posted yesterday it looks like they may have moved the scaffolding, looks like it's now located on the North side of the Lodge near the Lobby extending down by Artist Pointe.

Have a Great Trip and Congratulations on your Anniversary.

No balcony railings have been changed, not all the rooms on the 6th floor have the inclosed balconies.

When I left on Thursday, the scaffolding was pretty much in the same area. Although they took some down from the side of Artist Point, and it seemed to be moving more in front. At times there would only be one doorway accessible to get to where Roaring Forks is.

Yep...that's the way it works :rotfl2: But really the Saturday December 9th date looks great for the week you'll be there. Like you said many DIS-Lodgers will be there during your stay. So you have your date now all you need is time and location.

For a Mini-DIS Meet during the dates I'll be at WDW...as a few of us already have dinner plans for Artist Point for Friday December 15th I think we should meet before dinner at Territory Lounge. So I'll post the first meet below:

Wilderness Lodge Mini-DIS Meet:
Date: December 15, 2006
Time: 4:30pm-until
Loaction: Territory Lounge

Just adding a new guest, Welcome MickeyNicki.

My family will be staying at the WL Jan 27-Feb 1. We have ADRs at O'hanas one evening at 5:30pm. What is the best way to get to the Poly from WL? Bus/boat to MK, then monorail to poly? Or boat to Comtemp and monorail to Poly? Also, what time would you recommend leaving the WL to arrive before 5:30? TIA!

I prefer bus to the MK and monorail to the Poly. It gives you more time on the monorail. If you were really bored, you could take the boat to the MK and then take another boat to the Poly... I'd plan on leaving the WL by 4:45 at the latest. If you arrive at the poly early, just look around the GCH.
