We arrived on August 26 and got exactly what we had hoped for - a complimentary upgrade to woods view, bunk beds, view of a pond and of the MK fireworks every night!! :thumbsup2

Unfortunately, my DH was sitting on the balcony Tuesday night, enjoying the peace, but also talking on his cell phone. Suddenly, a large bird attacked him!! He is pretty sure it was an owl. He ended up with three puncture marks in his hand, a couple of long scratches and a bite on his thumb. When he went down to the front desk to report it, they called a paramedic to take a look at it, and then he had to go to the Centra Care Center the next day for a tetanus shot. Talk about a pain!

Anyway, just a warning for those of you who might want to sit on the balcony in the dark and talk on your cell phones! :teeth:

I'm sorry for your husband - hope its all feeling better now. We arrived on Aug 26 too! We had 3 ducks walk INTO our room from our balcony one morning!!!! My 3 year old was the first to notice and his yell pretty mcuh scared them out (wiht a bit of shoo-ing.) Funny - and no one got hurt! WE had a bunny trail right by us too - and some sort of weird hole in the ground. DH thought it was a snake hole - which ruined my sitting out there in the dark!

Does anyone know if we can buy a case of bottle water somewhere at WL. We plan on putting bottles of water in the fridge each night to take into the park the next day and we want to save as many snack credits as possible for the Food & Wine Festival :cool1:

You can hop over to FW settlement post and pick up a few things. Thats what I do. They have a better seletion to choose from due to the campers.

Great - thanks for the info Hugpug. Quick question....what's the best/quickest way to get to FW - the boat? Bus? Is the settlement post near the boat dock or bus depot?? Easy to get to?

Thanks again!

Can you update us on the bus situation? That is, how was it with the new bus route to MK? What's quicker now - getting to the MK by bus or by boat? How much time did you allow yourself to get there (want to be there by rope drop at 9....when would you leave your room)?

Thanks! :thumbsup2

Please add us to the December list. We'll be at WL December 14 to 18. I am so thrilled to be going during the holiday season! :santa:

Hey, girl!

I haven't been over to "Humphrey's Home" in a while  . . .I need to go and visit.

But I would really love to to meet the people that I talk to here :).

My DH John and I will be at WL from 12/12-12/16 this year. We will be at Poly from 12/9-12/12. So please add us to the list!

Look at the list girlfriend you were one of the first I added...I had your arrival date wrong but I corrected it. Jeannie and I are going to be there during your stay and we also think Fred and family will be at WDW during your stay, he isn't sure of his dates yet.

Will Ava be taking her first trip to see the BIG Cheese? If so I can't wait to see three of my WL Vet Nieces. We need to see new photo's please post on the Humphrey Home thread.

Erika,

Are you bringing the baby? I hope so, we would just love to see her.

Beckie,

We should try and plan some sort of meet. From your list, there seems to be quite a few of us Disers there around the time we will be. :grouphug:

Jeannie

Yes ::yes:: That's why I started the list so a few of us there could meet-up. DIS Wilderness Lodge MINI-MEETS...You know me I just love meeting new DIS'ers and visiting with good friends.

If each group can pick a meet date we should have several meets all through December. :woohoo:

Please tell me that there is more for the kids to eat besides Chicken Nuggets. We were planning on doing some CS meals here but this could get a little old.

Anyone have an updated room service or territory lounge menu?

Sarah

If you click on the website Chelliet
posted then use the search it has the Territory Lounge's new menu posted. Room service menu was the same as always on my last visit.

There is also pizza...I think most know I love the Wilderness Lodge but I wouldn't spend more then one CS (if that) at the Roaring Fork. There are just so many great CS's at the parks that will give you so much more of a variety.

Quickest way would be the boat and it is a short walk from dock of to your left. There is a nature walk trail which takes about 15-30 min to walk also. You could enjoy the walk over and take the boat back.

3 weeks from today we leave for WDW so I'm going to have a lot of questions between now and then.

Can anyone tell me, if we were to get a first floor room, can you walk directly off the patio to the courtyard? Thanks

Alrighty, this has probably been covered but when I read the thread through awhile back when I first booked WL I didn't think to look for it as I presumed it'd be the same policy the California hotels have.

When does the pool close? I read in another post that some hotel pools stay open all night with no lifeguard after 10? For me 10 was always too early as I'm usually just arriving back from the parks, 12 would be ideal, but in California all three hotels lock their pools at 10.

Thank you!

Hi there

I just returned from a great trip,, first time at the WL. What a beautiful resort, and the staff were wonderful.

We were upgraded from standard to courtyard (imagine my suprise when I opened the door to our room!! how fantastic!)

I just thought I would mention that I tried to take the direct bus from the WL to the MK,,, but there was none. I had to go to the TTC and then get the monorail -- it also made us late for our early Crystal Palace Breakfast, thats why I am mentioning it.. I heard something about this was due to construction of something,, but am foggy on the details,,, I saw one report since I returned indicating there will be no direct bus to the MK until mid december.

I did ask the CM who was at the bus stop if there was a bus running direct to the MK from WL and he said no. I wanted to double check, as it was my first visit, and I maybe missed the right place to go. Perhaps one of the WL vets could confirm this somehow. I dont want anyone else missing their ressie due to no bus, it took us almost half an hour longer then I expected doing the TTC to the Monorail route.

The family of ducks that live in the WL pool were so sweet. I loved watching them. Roaring Forks had some pretty good salads, but the variety for kids was maybe not so great.

Thanks for all the great info on this thread -- it was a great help!
