The NEW WL FAQ (Part 5) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY! Part 2

Hi all,

Just curious...

When you make your room requests, do you do so just with CRO? With CRO then a call to the lodge before you arrive? What seems to work best?

I requested upper floor, inner courtyard with CRO. But my reservation
/confirmation reads "upper floor, no pool" - if I had to guess, that request would not put me in the inner courtyard.

I understand that requests are just that....not a guarantee. But I'd love to have the best chance possible of my inner courtyard request.

Thanks for the suggestions!! :thumbsup2

Can concierge get us Fantasmic dinner package... I have tried and it was all booked up for a certain day I want.
I'd ask them to try. Even if they don't have any more pull than you do, they have persistence and convenience. They can directly access the ADR computers several times daily for a cancellation or other opening.

hi, just wondering what room you requested to end up with a view like this ?
:confused3

i'm itching to reserve wl for my trip in jan (11-16th) has anyone gotten any discounts (other than the aaa one) for that time previously? i really want to surprise my boyfriend with this upgrade (ie. not tell him until we get there :lmao: ). i've never stayed there, but always wanted to since it's sooooo beautiful! i think he'd like this place much more than por.

eta. i booked it. got a woods view. hopefully it's nice! i also asked for a king bed, we'll see if we get it? :confused3

Just booked my next trip! Going to WL May 14 - 18 with just my DD's! They are 21 & 23 and we are doing a Princess Only trip. They have never stayed at WL and I am really excited for them to see it, I think they will be pleasantly surprised! :dance3:

Thanks for the advice. I sent an email this morning requesting everything. How long do they usually take to answer?

Also, can anyone answer my other questions?
Should I request a specific view / room?
DD's bday is the week before, should I mention it?
Also, I will try to go through the hundreds of pages on this thread, but if someone can give me some more concierge info... I would really appreciate it!

Thanks so much... I have never been so excited about a trip as I am for this one!

I am one of the lurker-people that read this thread every day in anticipation of our Dec. 16-23 trip. What I need to know is that we are leaving on the 23rd, but we were still planning on going to MK for the afternoon and dinner at LTT as it has such Christmas-y type of food. Would our luggage be safe in our car or can we leave it with the staff, what do people normally do? We are going to St. Pete which is a little less than 2 hours away so we can have that mini-vacation from our WDW vacation before we head back home to Texas. Also, I am beside myself with excitement to see the WL, I know I'm going to cry like a baby when I walk in there. Pathetic I know.

We are staying on the concierge level and every email I have sent them has been answered within an hour or so. You probably should mention the b-day you may or may not get something special that just seems to be the luck of the draw. This will be our first time staying at WL so I cannot answer your other questions today but might be able to next week when we get back.

I sent the email at 7:00 am this morning.. should I resend or wait to tomorrow? Should I call? I don't want to be a bother, but, I want to make sure that they can get all the dining requests! :confused3

I would maybe give it a day or two, they may have been extra busy with guests today or short staffed due to the tropical storms. Even though it wasn't a hurricane, some schools were cancelled and there were heavy, heavy rains maybe not everyone could get to work.

Teresa....
I can't believe I didn't even realize that! You are right. I will give it a day or two!

We arrived on August 26 and got exactly what we had hoped for - a complimentary upgrade to woods view, bunk beds, view of a pond and of the MK fireworks every night!! :thumbsup2

Unfortunately, my DH was sitting on the balcony Tuesday night, enjoying the peace, but also talking on his cell phone. Suddenly, a large bird attacked him!! He is pretty sure it was an owl. He ended up with three puncture marks in his hand, a couple of long scratches and a bite on his thumb. When he went down to the front desk to report it, they called a paramedic to take a look at it, and then he had to go to the Centra Care Center the next day for a tetanus shot. Talk about a pain!

Anyway, just a warning for those of you who might want to sit on the balcony in the dark and talk on your cell phones! :teeth:

HOLY COW!!!!

I never heard of something like that happening before.

Sounds like you're having a great trip otherwise though.

... YIKES! I know that there is a 'bird prob' at CBR - that's why there is a 'netting' over the main pool area....

kath1210 - yikes!

we didn't see any birds during our last trip (lake view)...hope we don't in the future either, especially on the balcony.

...hey, keishashadow  , QUICK! Ya gotta help me out on the 'Tag Fairy' thread so that wendypooh can get her tag back.....:car:

The CMs said they had never heard of it before, either. Hopefully, it will be a one-time thing. They did say that there are a lot of baby owls around right now, so maybe it was a mama owl protecting her baby from the evil cell phone! :rotfl2:

It was actually pretty funny from our point of view (inside the room). My DH screamed, we heard the chair scrape and he ran inside (and he rarely runs). We are trying not to laugh about it because he was really freaked out, but it IS funny. :rotfl: He does not go out on the balcony at night anymore - no one in our room does. :sad2:

You're right - otherwise the trip has been fabulous!

Thought it'd find it's way home by now LOL.

Well, we had so much fun last May that we're going back next May, this time, hopefully with my brother-in-law and his son! :) Thanks to all you WL vets for lots of good info on how to get the best out of a trip to WL! :)

Your luggage would be fine if you decide to take it to your car for the day. Will the luggage be visible from outside the car? While I'm sure that it would be fine in the car I would never leave anything expensive within view. We have done both, loaded the car before the park and have bell services hold them until we came back to leave. It was easier to load the car first then when we returned after the parks we were all ready to head out.
