My first thought was Enjoy your Bunk Beds...:rotfl2: .

:rotfl:

So Ronald I guess I'm saying I have no idea what they will do. Please post when you return to let me know. I know you will have a great stay no matter were they put you.

You have gotta be right about that...unless they put us in a different resort:eek: !

Are you planning on using the POOL this trip?

Beckie

Boy, do you have a good memory:lmao: All I can say is my suit is packed...once again.
LOL, that's exactly what I want to do on Thursday. I booked with a travel agent rate and that was all that was available, but since I'm a solo I really would rather have normal beds. I think it would have to do with what they think they'll need. It might be that a lot request the bunks and they would like to have one freed up. That's what I'm hoping. I'm already paid up, so I'm not trying to have any payment changes. But either way I'll be ok with it. It's not like I'd have to sleep in the bunk.

Have a good trip!

You, too!

Hmmm...maybe they added TOO many bunk bed rooms when they renovated, since they were the only room type available a couple of months out. Then again, at times when families with kids are more likely to be traveling, the bunk rooms probably go quickly.

I think that by trying to give the guest what they wanted it has backfired.

There were reports of guest that had requested bunk beds, would become very angry and vocal if their request weren't meet. So they added more bunk beds but decided to charge for that convenience.

Guess what...most of those same guest that wanted little Johnny or Susie to have the joy of sleeping in a bunk bed didn't want to have to pay extra for this.

I truly think the extra nightly charge is ridiculous, $20.00/$25.00 extra a night is just too much. Maybe $10.00 a night for either Woods or Courtyard View would be better.

With Standard View rooms you will either be assigned to the 4th, 5th or 6th floor.

STANDARD ROOMS: 2 Queen Beds.Located on Floors 4,5 & 6. On the North(MK) side, they face the service area. There are also 4th floor rooms that overlook the lobby and look out to roof peaks.

Am I correct in assuming, then, that there are no standard rooms on lower floors?

Magic in My Heart- Thanks for the information about the standard view rooms, and the ECV. We will be renting the ECV offsite and having it delivered, so I would be very reluctant to leave it in the hallway. I think we will work around it being in the room. I found out today, due to a project at DH's work, we are going to have to change our dates from June to July 5-12. I am calling CRO in the morning, to see if anything is available. This will be mine and DH's fourth trip to the world, but we have never requested a specific view or room before. Do I need to do that when I call in the morning? I realize that it is not guaranteed. Thanks

NannyC
Yes when you call CRO you could request:

Standard View room 4th floor off the Lobby. (for a room located over check-in)
Or Standard View located on the 6th floor, north wing. (for a possible Magic Kingdom View)

As for ECV and being reluctant to leave it in the hallway, I understand.

Hello everyone,

We are just back from our WL stay. It was lovely as usual! I do have to say that leaving the room assignment to the assigner Gods was not a great idea!

WE HAD TO HAVE the most expensive horrible room possible! We booked courtyard - bunkbeds.....
recieved room 5005

This room was inner courtyard northwing, very last room, with only a tree view. We could not see the pool at all! If we looked as far right as we could without looking at the wall to the next rooms balcony, we could see some of the falls but still the trees blocked that view.

We had a stroller so we could not use the stairs so we had a haul to get to boat or bus!

We looked into upgrading to Club level there were none available.

Did we let it ruin our trip..... NOT A CHANCE!!!
A bad room in disney is better than the best room at home any day!

Our kids are still crying themselves to sleep because we are not in Disney anymore!:guilty:

If anyone has any questions I will answer anything......ASK AWAY!

Hello all,
We're back from our Oct. 3-9 stay at WL. We had Courtyard View Bunkbeds, room 5156 (outer courtyard, facing souththeast). The room was smaller than I expected it to be, but lovely. We had a nice view of the Villa pool and the location was very quiet. Our mousekeeping was FANTASTIC, especially for the first few days when we had Mimi. She left adorable towel animals every day, which my daughter loved. We even had a few washcloth "ghosts." :wizard:

While I loved the quiet location, it was fairly distant from amenities like the Roaring Forks, main pool, and the walkway to the boats. It was only a pain because we were travelling with a stroller which was loaded down like a pack mule, and our 2-year old daughter.

We originally booked bunkbeds because it was the only option available, but it worked out GREAT having a toddler--we draped a blanket over the top rails to create a "tent" in the lower bunk--it was nice and dark in there, and we were still able to watch TV while she slept. We had mousekeeping deliver bedrails and it was perfect. :cloud9:

We are going back next year, Dec. 4-11. October was too H-O-T!!

If anyone has questions, I'm happy to try and answer them.

We were thinking of letting our room assisgnment be left to the room assignment gods, but now I'm worried this might not be a good idea...

we are going 12/11-18 staying in a woods view room. it's me (will be 7months prego at the time), DH, 3 kids, and my parents. We have connecting rooms to spilt up our group of 7.

We booked through AAA and just figured we would let the pieces fall as they may as far as room assignments. Is the wrong, should we not be so naive, knowing we could possibly get better rooms? Me being pregnant, would we be better off near the boat dock? Or closer to roaring forks? I've never stayed at the WL, so it will all be new to me. Should I call my travel agent at AAA and have her get me a certain section? It would be awesome to see the fireworks from the room as well...I just don't know which place is best for us. AHHHH...so many questions!

I would call your travel agent and request a location.

A great Woods View location that would give you access to the dock and near Roaring Fork would be 5th or 6th floor, North Wing near the elevators overlooking the otter pond. This area will also give you a possible view of the Magic Kingdom and Wishs fireworks.

Well - if you're close to the docks, then that means you're far from the bus stop. But, close to the docks is also closer to Roaking Forks and the pool.

I never request a room - I leave it all to the room assigning gods, I was wanting to be in one of the wings, but didn't request it and we got the 5th floor above check in. I loved this room and location. It was great being "in the lobby" we spend each and every rainy day there, while the kids did the arcade.

Being Christmas time and all, I would only want to stay in the main building. Unless the MK is your only destination - how many times are you really going to ride the boats. The busses are way quicker.

Good Luck

We were just at the WL last week. We booked through AAA and requested an upper floor room overlooking Otter Pond. We ended up in a great location with a room right near the elevators. These elevators let out pretty much right next to Roarin Forks so they were very convenient. It was a walk to the bus stop, but not overly bad.

Thanks for all of the responses! I just talked with my mom and we are still going to go with the room reservation gods...I was thinking, maybe I would rather be closer to the bus, instead of the boat and Roaring Forks...I just don't know. I think that whatever we end up with will be wonderful. I am also afraid that if I make a location request that they would honor that before the connecting rooms request....the connecting rooms is much more important than location.

Colleen
That's correct the Standard View rooms are only located on the floors and areas that I posted.
Beckie

That's great! I haven't made any room requests yet, and I don't think I will now. My only thought was that I wanted to be on a high-ish floor, but if the lowest we can end up is 4, I'm sure to be happy with whatever room we get!

What is the best way to get to the Magic Kingdom at 7:15? Can I count on the Contemporary launch to be running early enough, or am I better off just to call a cab? And if I do call a cab, where do I go, since the TTC won't be open? The Contemporary, and then walk from there?

I just booked the Magic Behind Our Steam Trains tour for DS's birthday, and we have to be at the MK gate at 7:15 for the 7:30 tour.

We took at $5 cab to the Contemporary and walked. It is MUCH shorter than I anticipated. Make sure you call the valet from your room, and then your cab will be waiting for you. This $5 "bought" us about 30 minutes of sleep time.

ETA: What is the "magic behind the steam trains tour"? sounds intriguing for DS.

You should be able to catch a bus to MK at 7:00 or earlier. It is a 5 minute ride.

When we were there last week, we had a 8:05 CRT reservation. We called the front desk and were told that we should be at the bus stop at 6:45. We were, and a bus pulled up before 7am. We were at the gate before 7am.

Needless to stay in our case, we could have taken a slightly later bus, but went with that the WL staff told us to do. We ended up standing at the character breakfast entrance until they let us in at 7:45.

Hi all,

We do have coffeemakers in the room, right? My question is do they give you filters/coffee each day? We are going to bring our own coffee (DH is picky) but wondered if I need to bring filters too or if they are provided.

Thanks!

It is a Magic Kingdom behind-the-scenes tour that takes you into the roundhouse and talks about the history of the trains on the MK railroad. I was trying and trying to come up with something special to do for DS on his birthday, and stumbled upon this - http://www.allearsnet.com/btp/tours.htm#rr Better than a Wishes cruise, at least from the POV of a 10yo boy, and cheaper too! :thumbsup2
