Hi, by reading some of these threads, it sounds like we may be able to request a specific room at the W.L., is that correct? Would we book it through our travel agent, or direct through Disney? We are staying Dec. 4th-Dec. 12th. I believe the hotel is completely booked due to Mousefest, YIKES! Thank-You, Bellesmom

You can make a request for a specific room, but it's generally considered safer to make a request for a specific type of room. That way, if your specific room is already occupied by someone else, they'll have some idea of which other rooms might suit you.

So, for example, rather than asking for room 6012, someone might ask that their Woods View room be on an upper floor, near Bay Lake.

It's been said that a maximum of three requests is best, by the way (the example above would count as 2 requests, since Woods View is something that you pay for).

You would make these requests through whomever you booked your trip through, be that a travel agent or Disney.

You can call the Wilderness Lodge three days prior to your arrival and confirm that your requests are in their system (that's when the requests get transferred, or so I've been told).

Good luck! :)

Thank you for your anser we have reserved a court yard view room.
Do you have any sugestion what rooms to ask for.
Thank you

We just got back yesterday from a nice three day weekend at the WL. I wasn't sure if we would enjoy it as much going during the summer since we had only been during December and it was really magical for the holidays. Thankfully we still really enjoyed it. My DS4 was finally able to go down the slide in the pool and he had a blast. He didn't even want to go back to the MK, he just wanted to play in the pool.

Also, they upgraded us to Courtyard from Woods view and I was still able to keep the Florida resident discount on the room which was nice (no courtyard rooms were available at that rate when I originally booked). We had an outer courtyard view which I though was actually pretty nice (overlooking the Villas pool). We usually try for an inner courtyard in December, but I must say the outer courtyard was nice - very woodsy, a view of the pool, but a minimal view of the lake.

Crowds were non-existent as we didn't wait more than 5 or 10 minutes for anything all day. We're use to heat and humidity living in Florida, but it still isn't too much fun slogging around in it loaded down with all the accessories necessary for a 16 month old and 4 year old.

The WL is just awesome. Has anyone here stayed in the Villas? I'm thinking about looking into the DVC and wondering what people's thoughts are on the Villas and if they think they have the same great feeling as the lodge. I'm not sure if I would like it as much not being in the same building as the lobby, restaurants, etc. We stayed at the Poly once and absolutely hated the fact we had to trek what seemed like a mile just to get back to the main building (and risk getting soaked by the rain in the process).

Counting the days to Dec. 2. :)

Hi Liz,

LOL! That's right! We could be neighbors! I will be sure to invite you over for our late night drinking parties! We will be dancing and singing all night long! :cool1: WOO HOO! JUST KIDDING! Knowing my luck, you WILL get rowdy neighbors and you will think it is me! :scared1:

I read your previous postings of your last Christmas trip, and it made me all the more excited to get there! However, I didnt like reading about...Jeff was it? being sick. I have a very bad habit of getting sick on vacation! I had the stomach flu the day before leaving for DW, so we had to leave a day late(we drove) and I spent the trip down popping Imodium and Pepto! Luckily, I was feeling much better by the time I got to DW. I was sick on a cruise for a day(bad food) sun stroke in St. Lucia, and an extremely bad sunburn(Im a fair skinned irish-by-decent-Canadian gal, its not hard to do!) the day before my sister's wedding in Texas. Hopefully I will stay out of trouble for this trip!

We are getting the park hopper-premimum dining package that comes with the extras of mini golf, parasailing, tours, tickets to Cirque de Soleil etc. I wanted to use the Segway, but it sounded like it was just an hour long class that is indoors only. Is that what you did?

Here is the VWL Groupies thread. They can answer all your questions.

Depends on what you like, really. Some things you could ask for:

Inner Courtyard: This faces the main pool area rather than the Villas.
Near Bay Lake: On the north side, this is near the boat docks; the south wing puts you closer to the pool bar.
North Wing: This would put you closer to Roaring Fork (the counter service restaurant) and the boat dock.
South Wing: This would put you closer to the mercantile shop and the bus stop.

That's about all I can think of. What have others requested?

There's nothing worse than being sick on vacation! I hope that doesn't happen to any of us this trip. I kinda worry about traveling in the winter because it seems to increase your chances of catching something!

Sounds like you will have lots to do with all the activities in your package! We did the Segway tour where there is one hour indoors and one hour around World Showcase. It was so fun we're doing it again this trip too!

Have fun planning!

5 days until the Point of No Return! Not that I would cancel. I am excited. Our first vacation in 10 years since Honeymoon at Disney. First time for kids, first time at MNSSHP, lots of firsts and excitement.

We just booked for December 7-13, 2008!! :cool1: We're going to stay at WL this January, but decided that we just HAD to take my parents to WL around Christmas as well. I swear my parents are just as excited as my kids! DH thinks the kids and I have lost our minds because we've all become Disney obsessed! The man just needs some pixiedust:

homeschoolmomof4, my wife is a home school mom of 3!:) We have been to Disney 6 times since we've been married, but our next trip in 2009 will be our first to the WL. Needless to say, we are pumped!:cool1:

Hi fellow Wilderness Lodgers! I'm hoping some of you vets can help me. Our only preference to stay is at the WL. Being a family of 6, we find the deluxe rooms are perfect. We plan to go back Oct 2008. I was looking online at WDW for a price quote, and it said no deluxe rooms avail at that time. It's over a year away!! Last time I booked in 2006, I booked in Feb for the following Oct. Could this be true? I really can't imagine staying anywhere else, and don't want to take a risk with connecting rooms not being guaranteed. I also called WDW Travel Co. They also said no rooms avail at this time. What to do??:confused3

Does anyone have any photos of share of what the view is like if you get a courtyard view facing the villas? Thanks!

Disneywith4boys, I would say just keep trying back. This far out if they are all booked chances are someone's plans are going to change. Also maybe try a day or two less of the actual days you need to see if there's any availability then keep calling back to try and add on the remaining days. Good luck!

What area should I request for WL Courtyard View that would be quietest?
I wanted Woods View for my honeymoon b/c of the lack of outside noise but they only had a AAA rate for Courtyard so we took that.

I think the problem is you are a family of six. The rooms only accomadate 4. Some other deluxes hold 5 with maybe a child under 3(I think) in a portable crib. Fort wilderness cabins hold 6 so that maybe an option for you or the villas. You can get a 2 Bedroom villa. HTH some.

The regular rooms only sleep 4 but the deluxe rooms are bigger and do sleep 6.

That's too bad. hard to believe they are already gone a year beforehand.
Maybe you could book two standard connecting rooms in the meantime, and hope that a deluxe becomes available between now and then.

We are a family of 5, and just like you, can cant imagine staying anywhere else. I have deluxe booked for our spring trip.

Best of luck.

Guess what? Thats what I just did. I sure hope a deluxe room opens up, though, I'm afraid my request for connecting rooms may get split up. It would be hard with 4 small boys in 2 non connecting rooms. I found out the Boardwalk had deluxe rooms and almost booked it, but just couldn't part from the WL.

Stick with WL. We stayed at BWI in June and liked it, but LOVED our trip last week to WL. The staff was wayyyy more accomodating and friendly. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. BWI, not so much. It wasn't what it should be for the price.
