YEE HAW! WE can take travel size shampoo/conditioner etc!!!!!!

http://www.tsa.gov/press/happenings/9-25_updated_passenger_guidance.shtm

Effective Tuesday, September 26, TSA Is Adjusting The Ban On Liquids, Aerosols And Gels
There are two major changes:

Travelers may now carry through security checkpoints travel-size toiletries (3 ounces or less) that fit comfortably in ONE, QUART-SIZE, clear plastic, zip-top bag.
After clearing security, travelers can now bring beverages and other items purchased in the secure boarding area on-board aircraft.
At the checkpoint travelers will be asked to remove the zip-top bag of liquids and place it in a bin or on the conveyor belt. X-raying separately will allow TSA security officers to more easily examine the declared items.

LOL :rotfl2:

Let's see how many of us can post this same info within one minute of each other!

:lmao:

Yeah, sorry about that! I am just SO stoked that I don't have to buy after we get there. If we were going for a longer visit this next time, I wouldn't have a problem checking a bag with toiletires etc in it, but I don't want to chance having a bag delayed when we have so little time in the parks already.

Amen sister! :thumbsup2

That has been my biggest fear - going for a 4 night trip - minimal park time as it is and then having to go shopping on the off chance my suitcase was lost/delayed...

23 days until my trip - I'm SO happy they relaxed the restrictions now! (sorry for all those that had to deal with them in the past though)

I am just thrilled that to discover those items in the 'sterlie' area are safe. That took them long enough...

I am wondering if I can pour some suntan lotion in a little unmarked bottle to meet the 3 oz size limit. I have never seen sun tan lotion in that small of a bottle. My other thought is to soak a few napkins , kleenex or paper towels put them in a zip loc bag them just wipe them on the kids. :confused3

Some of the Sport lotions come with a small version on a key ring. That would work if you can find those

WOO HOO, my lips won't fall off!!! I can bring my Carmex on Saturday!

I got Hawiian Tropic Baby Faces for my DS on our last trip and it came with a 2 oz travel size bottle attached which I'm refilling with my sunblock for this trip. I pretty much only worry about putting sunblock on my face since I don't wear shorts (never) and my arms (in regular short sleeves) have never gotten a sunburn at WDW before.

And you can order a 2 oz size sunblock from minimus.biz too

I'm sure there are others out there too - but it will be harder to find them now that summer is over.

3 oz. of sunblock is one application for 3 people, which will last approx 2 hrs. in Florida sun, or for one person, 3 applications (enough for 6 hours). If you have 5 ticketed passengers, you'll be able to take 5 bottles that size, one in each carryon bag.

You'll definitely want to pack large bottles in the checked baggage if you don't want to shop.

I'm a large gal, and I don't think I've ever used 3 oz of sunblock in one use! (And that's based on when I go to a waterpark and have a lot more skin to cover...LOL)

I guess I'm just one of the 'lucky' ones that doesn't burn easily - I never need to reapply sunblock unless I've gotten in water and then towel dried off. (and I'm pretty darn pale)

Yeah! I can bring a small bottle of hand sanitizer in the carry-on this week.

I just did a test run for my stuff and it all fits nicely in the quart bag...

It contains toothpaste, hand lotion, moisturizer (2 products actually), sunblock, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner and face cleansing foam (which is the large blue thing - if anyone knows where you can get a smaller foam pump, let me know!!! This one is 2.3 oz when full and it's so darn big! But at least it's smaller than my full size product...) Tucked behind everything are a couple of travel packs of biofreeze (for pain relief) and a sample of a "powder-gel chafing relief" product.

But do you think it's comfortable??? I have a feeling that your bag could easily be deemed "overfilled" by the TSA. (I hope not, but look at your photo vs the photo in the first post. In the first post you can see all of the lables and there is plenty of room for the TSA to move things....) I guess we will just have to wait on the first reports tomorrow.

yeah - exactly - just what is "fits comfortably" in the bag? That's why I did a test run. My bag has lots of room in it still...

MY interpretation of the fitting is that you can EASILY close the zip lock feature. But, no, I'm not the TSA... We'll have to wait and see.

ETA - see post #22 here - it has details of my conversation with a TSA rep (from calling the relations line they list on TSA.gov website)

It's off-topic a bit, but what the hey ...

3 oz. is three uses for one avg. adult, unless you are saying that you are the size of three avg. people, which surely is not what you meant to imply, LOL.

The 1-oz-per-application recommendation comes from the American Cancer Society: http://www.cancer.org/docroot/CRI/content/CRI_2_4_2x_Can_Melanoma_Be_Prevented_50.asp?sitearea=

Most people who get diagnosed with melanoma but swear they used sunscreen religiously turn out to have routinely used about 1/4 of an oz. per application -- not NEARLY enough for proper protection.

Summer-weight fabric does NOT protect you from burning right through it. In Florida sun, you need to put sunblock under your clothing. I grew up in the deep South, and in h.s. I always had strap marks on my skin from my brassiere; I was tanning through my white cotton gymsuit. Tanning isn't as bad as true burning, but it is still cooking your skin, and it contributes to the lifelong cumulative damage that can result in melanoma.

OK, I'm off my sunblock soap-box now -- I'm returning you to your regularly scheduled topic.

Thanks so much for the updates! :cool1: For those of us who are taking a short trip it would be a major pain either waiting for tootpaste or buying more :rotfl2:
