I'm think I will choose the Dolphin, but I hate to have to ask this question.

Has anyone had any trouble with bedbugs? Someone wrote that they had bedbugs on tripadvisor and I'm a little worried if it's a problem in the Disney area.

Has anyone had problems with them at the Swan/Dolphin or any Disney Resort hotel?

Nope - never encountered any bedbugs at the Swan or Dolphin - or any other Disney resort.

Question about getting to and from the airport. It's just me and my DBF heading down to the Swan in August. I've never stayed there before but we're getting such a great discount it was hard to say no!

What's the best way to get to the Swan from the airport? Our flight isn't scheduled to land until 11:48pm! Is the shuttle service open then??

Thanks for your help!!!

We had a town car take us from the airport to the Swan in May but we also landed at noon. It was great because, aside from a grocery trip, we made no other stops and so it was quick.

We are looking at going to Disney again in Feb for the princess half marathon, and I am tempted to stay at the Swan or Dolphin again. When I look at the site, the prices right now are pretty expensive-- where are you all getting these good deals? I am not a teacher or nurse or gov't nor an AAA member so none of those discounts apply and the ones on the website are only through this year.

Planning a last minute trip to WDW in August and can't decide between the Swan & the Dolphin. Both are available for our dates -- and we've stayed twice at the Swan. Never been to the Dolphin, probably because they say the beds are smaller. Has anyone been to both and noticed a big difference in size? We like to try new places, so maybe we will go with the Dolphin this time.

I'm so excited either way we go! I love to stay in the Boardwalk area. :yay:

Haven't been to both, just the Dolphin, but we really noticed a difference from the Dolphin to the Poly (queen beds). We have an Olympic Queen at home and the doubles at the Dolphin were a little tight. I'm one of those flailing kind of sleepers and DH is a snorer, so I noticed, but that's only my humble opinion. I know others don't feel the difference. ;)

Five years in a row - and NEVER had a bed bug at the Dolphin! :goodvibes

Sooooooooooooooooooooooo sorry! :worship:
mea culpa ;)

I'd be apt to go with a town car reservation myself, getting in that late.

We personally don't mind the "doubles" at the Dolphin - they seem larger than a double but not quite as big as a regular queen. We enjoy the offerings at the Dolphin more, so we put up with the smaller beds. lol :)

not really related to swan and dolphin... but I wanted to have some family photos taken while we are at disney (my son will have just turned 1). Does anyone know of any photographers that would come to one of the resorts. I saw photo pass does a portrait session... are their photos's any good?

Thanks

I'm sure you'll get a mix of reviews -- we did a session at the Poly last year and were very happy with the pics. A few were just ok, but overall good.

I suggest doing it early in the day.

I always hear a problem with the smell of the hallway from the S&D. has it been fixed?

We have never encountered any "smell" in the hallways at the Dolphin in our five visits, but I had read about an "odor" in the elevators and we experienced it for the first time this trip - but only once, and only in one elevator, the entire stay. So, I'm sure it was a fluke incident.:confused3

The Swan has a smell when you enter the lobby - and I love it! If you are referring to a moldy smell, I never smelled one at the Swan or Dolphin.

I agree with Nancy - never smelled anything moldy in the halls in any or our stays. I also love the smell when you enter the Swan!

Hello Everyone... Im thinking about booking a trip in dec, just wondering if anyone knows if they offer the nurses rate at that time (maybe a week before christmas)? What is the best rate you have gotten in dec? I think it would be great to take a christmas trip to disney. The first time I went to disney (as a little kid) I stayed at the dolphin right before christmas!

Thanks!

I have never smelled any odors in the hallways at either resort. Sometimes sunscreen if a guest happens to be wearing it and walks by.

There is a very nice scent in the lobbies of both resorts. If you like the one in the Swan, you can purchase for your own use...

Could not locate Dolphin lobby scent for purchase.

I do recall years ago a discussion here on the DIS, about the odor at the Polynesian, but it was always attributable to the heavy use of foliage and soil in the lobby there. It is definitely a natural scent, and one I like.

We didn't notice any bad odor in the hallways at the Dolphin last week, and I don't remember it the first time I stayed there either. I LOVE the smell of the lobbies!!!

Zuzu, glad you had a nice trip! We are heading to the Dolphin for the first time in December. I was thinking of GG for one of the buffet dinners. Did your DD get any pics of the buffet? Thanks for posting and I really liked your view to ToT!

Sorry for taking so long to get these up - it's been a bit crazy around here. Anyway here are a few from the Garden Grove buffet - DD didn't get pics of the entire buffet, mostly the desserts (understandably!) and our plates:

Wonderful pics :thumbsup2
Sorry if you posted this before, but did you like the Garden Grove buffet?
The food looks good and I wanted to take advantage of the restaurant.com deal.

Yes, we did, very much! We were there on the Mediterranean buffet night and it was one of our favorite meals of the whole trip! I say go for it!
