I think this is one of the most asked questions. Epcot Views are in the far East Wing. MGM Views and Pool Views are in the far West Wing. There are 9 floors on the wings. If you want to try for a view of Illuminations. Your request would be in the far East Wing, upper floor with an unobstucted view of Epcot. We have been able to see Illuminations from the upper floors while staying in the "triangle" but there are no balconies up on these floors so it is much harder to see. We also could see MGM and Fantasmic off in the distance from these upper "triangle" rooms.

Occupancy Limits for the Swan and Dolphin.

The Swan has an occupancy limit of 4 per room. The Dolphin has an occupancy limit of 5 per room. A rollaway bed can be obtained for a fee by calling housekeeping. The fee for a rollaway bed is currently $25.00 per night.

Will the Swan and Dolphin transfer my luggage?

One of the benefits to staying at a Disney resort is that the resort will transfer your luggage as you change resorts during your stay. The Swan and Dolphin is not considered a Disney resort, but they have been known to extend this same luxury. All you need to do is call the Bell Services of your current resort and ask if they will transfer your luggage. We have stayed at the Dolphin numerous times and they have always provided us this courtesy.

    Is there a resort fee?

$10 plus tax per night and will include the following:

Up to 60 minutes free local telephone calls, toll free and credit card access calls

20 minutes of Domestic long distance per day

Unlimited access to Resort’s health club facilities

    In room High-Speed Internet Access

    2 bottles of water daily

I heard there's a charge to park at the resort -- is this true?

Yes, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin resorts charge for self-parking as well as valet parking. Self parking rate is $10 per day (plus tax), Valet is $16 per day (plus tax).

    When can I check in?

Check in time at the Dolphin is 3 p.m. Early check in is available if your room is ready; if not, luggage storage is available for later check in. Check out time is 11 a.m. Guests can usually check out no later than 12:30 pm without penalty. Late check-outs are until 4 p.m. and are $30 extra... any later than that you'll be charged for a half-day (unless you stay for an additional night, then it is a full day's charge).

Starwood Preferred Guests can earn miles, inquire at check-in.

Since the Swan and Dolphin aren't considered Disney Resorts, do I still get the Disney resort amenities?

Guests at the Swan and Dolphin enjoy many of the same amenities as Disney operated resort guests. A stay at the Swan and Dolphin includes WDW transportation to all Disney attractions, theme park free parking (just show your room key), Extra Magic Hour (EMH) privileges, package delivery to your hotel from the parks, preferred tee times, and access to guest services. If you're staying at the Dolphin you can also purchase your Disney tickets right there at their guest services desk.

However, unlike other Disney resorts, charging privileges don't extend beyond the Swan and Dolphin. All purchases and dining expenses ONLY AT the Swan and the Dolphin, can be charged to your pre-arranged account.

Starwood Preferred Guests can earn miles and points, inquire at check-in.

    Transportation Options...

Dolphin guests enjoy full use of all of the WDW transportation services. The buses and boats start picking up resort guests one hour prior to the Parks' scheduled opening times. This includes the Extra Magic Hour (EMH) times. Buses run directly from the front of the hotel to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Downtown Disney (Marketplace, West Side and Pleasure Island), Typhoon Lagoon, and Blizzard Beach. Some of the buses service only Swan and Dolphin resorts; others service the Boardwalk and Yacht and Beach Club as well.

Epcot can be reached by catching a Friendship launch (boat) from the courtyard/water-way between the Swan and Dolphin, or by taking a short stroll across the BoardWalk and to Epcot's International Gateway and World Showcase. The walk is a pleasant one and takes about 10 to 15 minutes. Note that the Epcot and Disney-MGM Studios launches are shared with the Yacht & Beach Clubs and the BoardWalk. If you miss the launch to Epcot, you can walk over and catch it at the BoardWalk or the Yacht Club. Please note.. the Boardwalk is the last resort stop on this transportation leg.

Disney-MGM Studios can be reached one of two ways; via the Studios Friendship launch or by walking. The boat launch is found in the courtyard between the Swan and Dolphin. The walking path begins directly behind the Boardwalk's Atlantic Dance Hall and continues to the Disney-MGM Studios Parking lot. This is about a 15 to 20 minute walk. The boat transportation to the MGM (Disney's Hollywood Studios) is much quicker, because the Swan and Dolphin is the last resort stop on that transportation leg.

Town cars are also available should you want a ride directly to another Disney resort or the Parks. The valet can assist you with getting a car. They are usually parked out front and will pick you up in minutes.

I had about 7400 Starwood points from a stay in India at LeMeridian last month (14 nights). I have a reservation for AKV for 6/14-20 but could not get a free ticket for SW for 6/14, but they did have 6/13, so I booked it. Not enough DVC points to add a Saturday night at AKV. The values & moderates are expensive in June and no discounts on weekends. So I checked on Starwood's site, did not have 10,000 points for a free night but got the Swan Limited View for $60 plus 4000 points! I've never stayed there and am so excited! I own DVC at BWV and love that area. My question is, what should I expect for "limited view"? Any requests I should make?

Oh Robin - thank you so much for getting this going again - we would have missed sharing so much information!!!
Now I am hoping that someone can answer my question - as the poster above said- I used 4000 starwood pts and $60. to get our first night at the Dolphin, it's in 2 weeks. My friends have never stayed there and I wondered if I could request a room in the front with a view? Not wanting a balcony or anything fancy, just a Swan view. Hoping one of you have the answer. Thanks. :thumbsup2

Hello and welcome ~ I would join SPG and hope for an upgrade to a resort view. The link for SPG is in the first post. :)

Hi Caroline :) I am guessing you are already a Starwood Member? I don't have any experience with this exactly but I would hazard to guess if there is an upgraded view available you will get it being a Starwood Member.

I did not know they were offering the 60 and 4K points in May/June. I checked on our dates thinking maybe we could add a few nights onto our stay at the Boardwalk. Only one night is available so I am not sure it would be worth it for only one night. I was hoping for 2 nights.

Welcome to all! Hi TinkOhio :goodvibes

I am a Starwood member Robin - which is why I'm asking. After I posted the message on this thread- I did send along a request email to the Dolphin asking them.
I know that requests are sometimes granted, so I'm hoping mine might be one of them. Looking forward to getting back once again.
BTW Robin- my trip is in April so I was fortunate to get the pts/$ promotion.

Yay...thank you for starting the new thread! Right now I have ressies at the Dolphin and the BC for early September, but the Dolphin is appealing to me more and more. And not just because of the price, LOL...although saving $70+ per night is nothing to sneeze at.

We've stayed at the BC several times, but I'm excited to try something new. And I'm looking forward to hearing about the experiences of others who will be staying at the Dolphin in the coming months.

The $129 rate was on their banner last year as well. I called (because I was not pulling up anything close to $129/night on the spg website) & was also told that is only nurse, teacher, military, gov't etc. rate. They WERE however, able to find a rate lower than the $229/nt AAA rate I was booked for. So it never hurts to call. Actually - I don't think I even called - I used the "talk to an agent" button on the spg website, it's live chat with a Starwood employee. I ended up getting 2 nights free on points, then paying $189/nt for the last night. Got a great complimentary Starwood Gold upgrade to a deluxe room as well.

Thank you for the informative thread MomPoppins! I just booked the Swan for the end of August for my family - 6 nights on points and 2 nights cash+points. Total for 8 nights $120! :cool1:
We have never stayed at either Swan or Dolphin so I have a few questions...

How far is the parking lot from the Swan? I read in the UOG that it is distant, so wondered just how distant is distant? We were thinking of driving our car to MK and AK.

I have read somewhere that the Swan rooms have a stocked mini-bar refrigerator but you have to pay $20 or $25 to have it cleaned out for you to put your own stuff in there - is that still true?

Last but not least (a dork question ;)) - does the Swan/Dolphin get the Disney resort channels on TV?

Thank you so much for your replies.

I need to subscribe to this thread. Our trip isn't until February 2010 but we want to stay at the Swan again so I might as well come here and read about it for the next ten months :goodvibes.

I don't know the answers to all of your questions...but I know The Dolphin DOES have the WDW TV channel (the ones with Stacy), I was just there in Dec. & watched them every day (I'm a dork too!)

When we stayed at the Swan we had a car & I don't remember the parking lot being far from the resort at all - I thought I remember it being right there at the entrance - but that stay was almost 9 years ago so anything could have changed (or my memory night just be wrong!)

We did not use the fridge or the mini bar at any of our 3 Swan/Dolphin stays so I can't help you out there.

Lucky you getting points & cash as an option for Swan/Dolphin. That has never come up as an option for me when checking the dates I need.
