Page 71 post 1057. A real sweet member here told me awhile back where to find the executive suite pics she posted.

Hi, you can use SPG points to book room types other than standard (limited) views. You'll still get the 5th night free, but it has to be booked over the phone with SPG customer service rather than online. I don't remember point values offhand, but it will probably be something like 11,000 or 12,000 per night for a resort view, etc. instead of the regular 10,000 per night. I think I remember seeing that the grand suite was 20,000 per night so I can't imagine a one-level upgrade being too many additional points from a standard room. I do know that you can't mix cash for an upgrade on top of a points redemption. It's got to be entirely points.

Thanks for the tip! I just got off of the phone with SPG and I was able to use my remaining points to upgrade our room to a deluxe alcove oversized room!

The gentleman gave me two options....a deluxe alcove with a resort view or for a few more points I could get a deluxe alcove oversized room (I picked the latter). Has anyone ever stayed in one of these oversized rooms? What's the view like if it's different than the resort view?

I do recall a great view of Spaceship Earth when we went two years ago (I paid for the upgrade when we checked in) and a pretty spacious room. Does anyone have any pics of this specific room? Thanks again in advance!

It was FANTASTIC!!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE that hotel!!!!! This thread helped me decide to stay there and I am so glad I did. Thank you all for the fantastic info you share...it has been so helpful in the planning of my trip. I somehow ended up with a room that had 2 balconies :yay: It was a very nice surprise when I arrived. I will share my room view with you but can someone tell me how to post the pictures here? I have the photos saved on my desktop.

Thanks!

Scanning this thread... just curious. This is the Disney Swan and Dolphin... and yet it's not considered a Disney resort? Why is that?

Me too! For years i thought these hotels were not as good as a 'real Disney Hotel"-wrong!
Loved the swan-LOVED the location-cant wait until we make another trip.:)

Just back from my split stay with the Dolphin May 21-25 and POFQ May 25-29. My DS11 and I were in room 12091 and all I can say is WOW! We could see Illusions from our window and it was fantastic. The room did not need refurbishing, no odor, no bed bugs, no mold, nothing negative except the refrigerator needed some help. I opened the cabinet doors overnight b/c it was so hot in there and that seemed to help it a little bit.

We loved the option of walking to HS and Epcot as well as the Boardwalk for supper. We had ice cream at the Fountain every night we were there because we could:goodvibes. I enjoyed the hammocks and the swimming pool as much as the parks!

My DS11 didn't want to leave when we had to go to POFQ and I have to agree with him, but this was our first stay at the Dolphin so I didn't want to be "stuck" there if we didn't like it. Now he refuses to stay anywhere else from now on. I'm going to lure him to AKL one day though:rolleyes1.

Thank you to everyone who posts information on this thread, it helped me with my decision to try the Dolphin. We will definitely return in the future!

We just got back from our first stay there too! (We were there 5/21-5/29). We loved it. It was my SO's first trip so I hope he's willing to stay at a Disney hotel sometime in the future, but I'm afraid the Dolphin has ruined that. Our return flight was delayed so our airline put us in a crappy hotel last night, it was sooo depressing after staying at the Dolphin. We did a bit of room hopping at the Dolphin which I've already posted about, but every single room was so nice. Very clean, comfy beds, great views. It is a great resort hotel, makes you feel like you're on vacation just by being there.

I was thrilled to find out my room had 2 balconies :thumbsup2The first photo was taken from the "square" balcony and the second was taken from the "curved" balcony. I was thrilled that I was able to get a room like this, but I have to assume this isn't a "normal" resort view room right? I am a little confused...is the room I had different from the alcove rooms? If so, what is the difference?

15 days for us!

While I'm incredibly excited, I can't believe it's only 2 weeks when we leave. It just seemed like we were over a month out last week.

Y'all are getting me psyched for our upcoming trip -- just 10 more days! :cool1:

Ok...I'm officially jealous of all of you!

The only thing that will make me feel better is the promise of full reports - with photos - when you all get back! :surfweb:

The 2 balcony rooms are standard rooms (at least some of them), though some may be classified as Epcot or Park view instead of resort view. I lucked into one when I stayed there during a conference, and couldn't believe my good fortune. The 2nd balcony is huge! It was the top balcony room at the end of the wing closest to and overlooking Epcot. In my book, that has to be THE best standard room in the place. (Was that your room?) I felt a little guilty since I was just there by myself... but not TOO guilty to give it up. :rotfl:
