I am just wondering what people think about the GV rooms at Hawaii? We are staying at the Poly for our first time the first week of Dec. and are lucky enough to do CL (do to 40% off pin!) but could only get GV and not LV. My DH would love for me to keep trying to get LV so I am wondering...is the extra cost worth it to keep trying? are there any great views from GV or where exactly would they look out at in Hawaii? Also.....What area do I want to request at Hawaii to be sure of a balcony? or do I want patio?
We are sooo excited to finally try this place out I cant even stand myself!!

If you search this thread (I think there's a list on the first page) there are quite a few "room view" photos, including some lovely garden/pool views from the Hawaii building. They look really nice. :)

What is "solar gel"? Is it sunscreen or aloe or after-sun lotion? Just wondering...:confused3

That's a good question! We were staying CL at both resorts, so maybe it's only offered there.

That has been the case for us at the Polynesian and AKV club levels.

At the GF, there are also extra amenities in the club level rooms just different products.

Its the after sun lotion to soothe sunburned skin-like me & my very fair skinned kiddos always seem to need!

Thanks -- I thought so!

Does anyone know if they sell Neutrogena Sunscreen Spray at WDW? (And if they do, do they have the 45 and the 70?) It's the only one we use and I really want to do all carry-ons for this trip, so no sunscreen spray in our luggage. We'll have to buy it there...

The solar relief stuff is really great. It must have lots of aloe in it. To me it's a gel rather than a lotion. But whatever...it's very effective.

I'm sure we'll be needing it -- wont have any color on us in April and will be out in the Florida sun...;)

Even if you're not fair-skinned like DD and I, it is still a great moisturizer to use after a long day in the hot Florida sun. We brought a few bottles home from our stay in December and DD still uses it on her face. Great stuff! :thumbsup2

All the times we stayed there I never thought to use the solar relief gel. :confused3

I'd like to thank everyone that posted to this thread. My DW and I returned Saturday from our first stay at the Polynesian and we absolutely loved it! Your comments on the resort helped convince us that this was the right place to stay and we certainly agree!

From the towel Mickey upon arrival at our GV room in Samoa to being the first family at Hollywood Studios and then first Ohana at the torch lighting ceremony, it was about as magical a trip as could be (temperatures not withstanding)! Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the recommendations and suggestions and impressions from your previous stays! :goodvibes

Sorry for the confusion - yes, the toothbrush & paste was in a CL room (actually got my threads mixed up and thought I was posting there:eek: sorry!)

That is awesome Ryoga! Your trip sounds wonderful! So happy to hear it. That's what the DIS is all about. Now you can help others with their planning :surfweb:
Had you requested Samoa??

I know they just brought back the torch lighting ceremony, we've never done it and wondered if it's a must do at least once. Any thoughts? Oh what time do they have it?

We didn't put a special request in, it was just what was assigned. We loved the location, though! If it had been warmer it would have been nice for a quick hop in to the pool. It was still nice to be a 30 second walk out to the beach to see the fireworks and the pageant.

We thought it was a fun brief show that you should watch at least once. It started in the lobby right at 6 PM and then moved outside for some fire twirling and the actual torch lighting.

My wife asked me to find out this information, and I thought I would pass it along in the event someone else has the same question:

As of right now, they are $2 for the washer, $2 for the dryer. They also have a vending machine that sells little boxes of laundry detergent ($1). There is also a change machine in the laundry room. :laundy: :laundy:

Ryoga,

Glad you hear you had a magical stay at the Poly! It sounds like you had a ideal location -- close to everything! Can't wait to try it out myself -- I hope we'll love it as much as all the helpful people who post on this thread!:)

Add me to the list of pending stays at the Poly

I am so excited...

I just booked our Grand Gathering with 2 GVC rooms and can hardly wait for Dec 5th to come...
