I just booked our Grand Gathering with 2 GVC rooms and can hardly wait for Dec 5th to come...

Even if you're not fair-skinned like DD and I, it is still a great moisturizer to use after a long day in the hot Florida sun. We brought a few bottles home from our stay in December and DD still uses it on her face. Great stuff!

Oh, that's a good idea. We've used it for minor abrasions too and I think the stuff is magic.

I'd like to thank everyone that posted to this thread. My DW and I returned Saturday from our first stay at the Polynesian and we absolutely loved it! Your comments on the resort helped convince us that this was the right place to stay and we certainly agree!

From the towel Mickey upon arrival at our GV room in Samoa to being the first family at Hollywood Studios and then first Ohana at the torch lighting ceremony, it was about as magical a trip as could be (temperatures not withstanding)! Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the recommendations and suggestions and impressions from your previous stays!

I'm glad you had such a wonderful stay. Thanks for sharing about it. We've been placed in Samoa a number of times and like you we never requested it...just first floor (and in the old days nonsmoking).

I know they just brought back the torch lighting ceremony, we've never done it and wondered if it's a must do at least once. Any thoughts? Oh what time do they have it?

I didn't know it was back either. Great news. I think it's at six pm but I know it's only once per night.

My wife asked me to find out this information, and I thought I would pass it along in the event someone else has the same question:

As of right now, they are $2 for the washer, $2 for the dryer. They also have a vending machine that sells little boxes of laundry detergent ($1). There is also a change machine in the laundry room.

We started planning at 10-11 months out, and now we're down to 2. Time is passing faster since I'm getting a WDW "fix" here on the boards!

I don't know if I am allowed to post info. about other websites, but if anyone really needs a Poly fix, if you got to Youtube and type in Polynesian Resort Disney World, you will find a bunch of home videos of the resort, rooms etc. You might have to sift through them to find the better ones but there are a number of them that actually tour the grounds and the rooms.

What's really great about this trip is we are keeping it totally secret fromt he kids. No packing, no countdown, DH and I just say to the kids that morning, "What do you want to do today?"

"How about we go to Disney World?"

I can't wait to hear what they say to that!

We are doing the very same thing! We will be there from the 9th ( our anniversary) through the 16th. We aren't even going to tell them till we get to the airport. Just this morning we decided to tell them that DH has to go on a trip that morning and we need to take him to the airport because we are leaving for the shore as well!!! hehehe....they will be so surprised because we always go to the shore at that time of the year so even packing in front of them won't be a problem! Now the only problem is ME keeping the surprise for that long!!!!:

My DH thinks Im crazy planning everything this far in advance! He actually said that he thinks we go on vacation just so I can plan it!
And he definately doesn't understand the DIS! I didn't see him complaining on our last WDW trip where everything went perfect becauase of my planning!!

I totally understand. Everyone in my family is used to things going so smoothly that they dont realize how it's not "effortless". I've explained it enough this time that I think they are starting to understand and have agreed to stay CL, which has made my pre-trip planning and work much easier.

DH suggested last May that we go in July and I was so panicked because I couldn't get the rooms I wanted, I never would have been able to make ADRs, and I didn't have enough time to plan! So we're going this April instead, and I'm so much happier. Planning ahead lets me get just what we want and gives me the time to make all our arrangements! (We got our Disney fix instead by going to DL for a few days in June! No huge planning issues when we go there).

I booked a cruise three months ago for AUGUST 2010...

My wife is the same way..the vacation fairy plans everything and gives you the best prices and a great vacation just magically happens

They will never understand that planning a vaction well takes a lot of work, and for me, the planning is part of the vacation process..and keeps you "connected" to your vacation all year round.... I start what my family calls "the book". I fill it up with stuff as I go along and show it to them throughout the year..my kids like to see it, and my wife usually looks two weeks out....

Has anyone at the Poly seen the new refillable mugs there yet? Ive seen pictures of them, and posts that they are at some resorts, but I didnt see the Poly mentioned. Im hoping they will be there when we arrive in 24 days if they arent there yet!!!

I didn't want to wake up this morning!! I had a dream last night that my mom and I went to disney and we stayed at the Poly!! Everything from pulling the car up, to my mom getting angry and walking away while waiting in a check in line!! I walked up to check in, chatted with the CM and when all was said and done, asked her if we could be close to the lobby, she went is the building closest okay?? I was so excited!! Than I caught a glimpse of our room keys...my heart skipped a beat, they were gold!! We were upgraded to club level!! My mom returned as she called over a CM to escort us and we were hysterical, SO excited!!! He walked us outside and than my STUPID alarm went off for the last time I had to get up!! I had already hit the snooze button 4 times and each time I woke up, I fell right back into the dream!! Why oh why can't I have these dreams on my day off???

I've never stayed at the Poly, but now I really want to!!!
