ONe thing I just thought of......
I loved the press pot of coffee at Kona and the macadamia nut pancakes. Yummmmm!

I keep hearing about the pressed coffee? What is it? Is it super strong? We love GOOD coffee but not super strong stuff like expresso. THANKS!

I just read a current Poly review in a different thread and the person just got home and said there was bee problem:scared1: at the pool bar.
TO All of you guys that have just got back is this really much a problem?? We're at the Poly in 2 weeks if it is, I'll just make DH get my drinks:rotfl2: I hope it's not a problem though.

I don't know if I would call it a problem, more of a tiny little annoyance that I had forgotten all about until you mentioned it.

We were there from 8/23-8/30 and I remember seeing a few here and there, but not enough to call it a problem. We actually ate our lunch one day right next to the bar at a table and we were fine. We sat there several times with out drinks, as well, and it was ok.

Thanks! it doesn't sound like the bees will be much of problem..good;)

I saw that post about the bees at the bar too. Glad to hear it's not too big of a problem. Although I really can't blame them for hanging out at the bar... :rolleyes1

Yes, bedrails are complimentary. Our DDs will be 2 and 3 when we go. We plan to use bedrails on both the daybed as well as one of the queens. (Unless we're fortunate enough that they will both sleep in the same bed without rolling all over one another! haha) Just request how many sets you need when you make your reservation... :thumbsup2

RE: the daybed - does mousekeeping automatically put it back together during the day and then come unfold and make the bed up again at night or do we need to do that on our own. (We're not in concierge...just regular garden view category)

Yes, housekeeping will automatically put the daybed back into closed position during the day, unless you ask them to keep it open. Also, once you get into your room after you check in, call housekeeping and alert them that you will be using the daybed and need it unfolded each evening. At the same time, you might want to request turndown service, since they'll be coming to turn down the daybed each evening anyway. :)

I loved the press pot of coffee at Kona and the macadamia nut pancakes. Yummmmm! Wish I had them right now. I had the Tonga Toast at Captain Cook's. I just thought it was ok.

The lunch plate (or something like that) at Kona was also very good. I had the chicken.

You can tell I am hungry right now, thinking of food!

The 100% Kona French press pot AND the pineapple macadamia nut pancakes are my favorite breakfast in the entire world!! :cloud9:

I don't like strong coffee either, but I love the press pot at the Kona Cafe. It's not strong, it just has a great flavor to it.

YES! In fact, this other woman and I were ducking for cover while waiting for drinks. Just order your drink and step away from the bar until you're ready to pay and run! For the pina colava, it's worth it!!!!!! However, if you're allergic to bees, like my brother, you may want to stay away from the outside pool bar. There's a bar inside that you can get drinks at. BTW, I didn't see bees anywhere else - just at the pool bar - must be all that sticky fruity stuff! Good luck!

I don't think they are bees there are alot of flys they come around even when there is no food. I think food and drink smell is melted into the table tops. Its time for some new tables those are pretty old.

I didn't see any bees however I did see..... LOVE BUGS!!!

Granted it was just one pair that I saw but that just shows Love Bug season 2.0 is about to set sail. :lmao:

C'est la vie MsStinkerBelle:) I'll be there in 2 weeks and change..so I guess I'll be seeing them around.
Hope you had a very nice vacation...it was so nice of you to post live while you were there:)

We were there 8/14-8/22, I was at the pool bar a "couple" of times.

The bees were a slight problem during this period. They were bad enough that the bartender had to trash a couple of drinks for the person in front of me once because there were some swimmers in them.

She said that it was a bad time of day for them and that they would soon subside. It didn't really bother me much but they seemed to be annoying the bartender.

Oh I am right there with you. I made an adr at Kona just so I could have my press pot and macadamia pancakes. LOL My guys are not that bothered..... I cannot stay at the poly and walk past those pancakes... it would be too rude !!!!!:rotfl:

How tall is your DS?? Here's a picture of the daybed when it's folded forward for sleeping. My DSs (now 20 and 17) took turns sleeping in it when they were 18 and 15, and about 5'10", with no trouble at all. They said it was pretty comfortable.

SeaSpray- thanks for the advice on the dining plan. If I could purchase the quick service plan for just my younger son that would be great- ha!! He is the one who would eat you out of house and home!! Also a quick question about the day bed. I am worried my younger son isn't going to be able to sleep in this is as he is 6' 5" tall. My older son is under 6 foot so he will probably get the day bed. Even though there will be a queen size bed for them you know how teenage boys are- they don't exactly like to sleep in the same bed anymore- yuch!!!

Do you know if they do anything special at Kona or Ohana if you're celebrating an anniversary???

They're more of an annoyance than anything else. :goodvibes Disney does a pretty good job of thinning their numbers as much as possible but they can only do so much. Love bugs are also pretty funny to watch.

Hope you had a very nice vacation...it was so nice of you to post live while you were there:)

Thanks I had a great time! Plus I love sharing information to help folks plan. :thumbsup2

Now if only December would get here quick so I could get back to the Poly!

I know how teenaged boys are (LOL); that's why we love the Polynesian, they each get their own bed. :)

YES! We were at the Polynesian last July for our anniversary, wore the pins, and got a special complimentary dessert at the Kona Cafe twice (once with breakfast, and once with dinner). Here's a pic of what the dessert looks like (they're called Koko Puffs and used to be on the dessert menu):

Welcome back! And I'm jealous of your next trip back so soon!! :yay:

THANKS SeaSpray!!! That's great. DH and I will celebrate about 6wks early while we're there. I'm guessing Disney isn't particular about it being on the exact day, right? Did you have to request it or did they just see your pins? We never EVER get out here at home....we have nobody to babysit so we always have the kids with us...that's why we figure we'll just celebrate early at Disney!

Good Morning. I am so thankful that my sons are 15 and 19 years of age now so I can leave them "home alone".:rotfl: :rotfl:
