OK it's official DIS Meet @ The Wilderness Lodge

We became aware that because so many of us love visiting WDW and The Wilderness Lodge, that we had quite a few DIS members that would be converging at WDW over the last few weeks in May.
Soooo... we are going to meet-up at the Lodge and visit for a few hours or minutes which ever you would like.

Date: Saturday, May 22, 2004
Time: 2:00pm-4:00pm
Place: Humphrey's Totem
( corner of the lodge by the mercantile, elevators, and the bridge in the lobby)

This will be very informal so don't worry if your at one of the Parks, relaxing by the pool, Training for the 1/2 Ironman, or just having fun, (added for our wonderful CM freinds) working, jump on The boat/bus to Wilderness Lodge and say hello.

...concierge isn't simply about the food, but rather, the EXPERIENCE. There are special CM's (aren't they ALL??) which help you with PS's, shopping needs, and other arrangements. It is on the 7th fllor and only guests who are staying concierge have that access. It is quite a bit more than "snacks", yet not quite considered "full meals". No, it is not FREE (not to date, anyway!), but has been offered in the past as an upgrade for as little as $30/daily. (I guess the upgrade price depends what your room location/daily charge are). I will not have a car at the WL so I am relying on WDW transportation. How early do you guys usually schedule your character breakfasts using WDW transportation to get there on time?

I am seriously trying to avoid early morning stress fits about getting there on time.

I prefer early breakfasts but will schedule a little later if needed but that eats up "theme park time"

Hi!

My DD and I were at the WL last October and found the transportation very easy and efficient.

Your breakfast choices are relatively easy in the transportation department so go for the 'early' schedule.

For Chef Mickey- you just take the boat from WL to CR. Totally easy. The boat services CR, WL and FW. Depending on the loop, you might end up going WL to FW to CR but still won't take long. In October, the resort boat began running at 7:00 so it would be easy to have a 7:45 breakfast. I would still plan on 20-30 minutes for transportation, just in case you just miss the boat.

For Park Fare at GF- you could take the same boat to CR and then get on the monorail to the GF. OR you could take the bus to the TTC and then get the monorail. Both easy- still plan on 30 minutes for transport.

For Cindy's at MK- same as above- either boat to CR then monorail or bus to TTC and then monorail OR boat to CR and then a 10 minute walk to MK. Lots of options. We took the bus to TTC and then the monorail for our Cindy's PS and it was easy. Got the bus at 7:25 and were walking down Main Street by 7:55.

I did have a 7:55 PS for Donald's at AK and that would be the only one where if I were doing it again, I would take a cab. Bus cut it too close and there was some stressing on the bus and were a tad late for our PS- no issues with them still seating us- I just hate to be late and didn't want b-fast to cut in to park time.

Anyone have any luck with upgrades? I am the coordinator of a Grand Gathering for 9 rooms and was hoping to get an upgrade (dreaming haha...).

Do you ask at check-in?

We already have Woods view - what should I ask for?

Snoopymom - I paid for a Woodsview with the Florida Resident discount...I had asked the CRO for an "upgrade" if possible and she noted my reservation. When I checked I asked the CM for a room that overlooked the Main pool with bunkbeds...he called someone on the phone and gave them my name and they ok'd the upgrade..This is the first time the CM has ever called anyone...normally, they just say "no problem".

Sorry your post was missed for a while, Yes WL is great about upgrades if available, but not sure about all nine rooms. If you would like you can ask the CM at check-in if this would be possable.

With Woods View I would request 4th or 5th floor overlooking otter pond. (this should also included a view of the Castle, and Wishes) if your lucky....
