CHARLIE IS ARRIVING!

Laura, We LOVE reading your reports!! What an adventure! We stayed at WL in July - loved it. We'll be back in WDW this December and can't wait to see WL decorated for the Holiday!

Keep those reports coming! From, another 'Laura'! :wave2:

This will be our third time staying at WL and I have not heard what a BEAR ROOM is.
ANYBODY????

Although we didn't know it until I posted our room number here "5077" we were lucky enough to have one of the bear rooms.

All this really means is that when looking back at the lodge from the pool (on many of the resort pictures) it appears like the face of a bear. The two dormor (sp.) windows are the eyes (clear at the top of the lobby section), nose is peak section. You have to use your imagination!!!

These rooms have absolute wonderful views and considerd inner courtyard views. We had reserved a woods view room and lucked into this double upgrade! We didn't realize this until we were in our room.

It was an absolute magical time. We can't wait to go back!!

We were also at WL in July and will be back at WDW in December. Although it is booked during our time and we need to be near DTD so we won't be staying there we will certainly take a trip over to see it decorated!!

I also belive that Ronald Duck will be at WDW at the same time and was also at WL in July.

What a wonderful magical time!!

Booked the WL with bunkbeds. Has anyone stayed in these rooms? What did you think of the rooms eg space, beds comfortable etc?
Would love it if there was a view to see the fireworks. Any suggestions for a good location?

cjeong,

::yes:: Yes I have stayed in one of the rooms with bunkbeds, and it did seem to give you more floor space I didn't sleep in the buck by my nephews loved them. If you have a woods view booked you could always request North wing with view of Magic Kingdom, some of the rooms have a great view of WISHES

Room request question.
1) I'm going to request: Inner Courtyard, bunkbeds, 4th/5th floor over Lobby. However, if no "Bear" rooms are available, I'd like to add an additional request so the whole thing would look like this: Inner Courtyard, bunkbeds, 4th/5th floor over Lobby. If Bear room not available, Inner Courtyard, bunkbeds, North Wing 4th/5th floor with good view of main pool.
My question is, is this request too long? Is it a bad idea to make secondary requests? I know there are only a few of those Bear Rooms, so I want to make sure my bases are covered.

dpic
I think I would just go with the first request, then if one of the "Bear Face" rooms isn't available...talk to the CM when you check-in.

2) Are the in room coffee pots those little dinky 4 cuppers, or are they a decent 10 cup size? We are going to bring our own coffee so this info would be handy.

The coffee pots are the smaller cup capacity, made for a few small cups.

Follow Winnie Pooh Fan's instructions while looking at the photo below you should be able to see the "BEAR FACE" The two eyes are just under the flag on the top floor.

SHUT UP!!!!!!! :earseek: I am even more amazed at the wonders of Disney. I will have to share that with the DH and DD. Thanks so much!!!!

One more question if you don't mind; I just found out today that my company is giving me a bonus (sure, why not, they are laying me off in 57 more days-it will help make my last trip to the World a little brighter) and it will be paid in a mall gift certificate. I was going to purchase Disney Dollars at the Disney Store with it since it was over $250, but I was wondering since I have only purchased Disney Dollars as souvenirs, is if they can be spent anywhere in WDW?

Thanks for all your help and info!!!!

mickeygirl18976

::yes:: Yes Disney Dollars can be used most everywhere at WDW...but I would not use them for tips.

Thank-you, MAGICinMYHEART.

Just to make sure I, and others, understand which rooms we are talking about I've highlighted the photo you posted. As you can see, the eyes are marked, and what I considered the "Bear" rooms are marked. Are the "Bear Face" rooms only the eyes or are they the rooms I marked as "Bear" or are they all of the above? Are the eyes 7th floor concierge rooms?

Thanks.

Magic in My Heart, I am sorry we will miss you by one day. We are arriving on the 18th. Have a great stay in our little piece of Heaven.:wave2:

First I want to thank everyone for this awesome thread. Everyday I read a few more pages and really appreciate all the info on here. So, we have our 1st stay booked for 11/13-11/20, courtyard view (thanx to BAT code). Deciphering what rooms are where is a bit confusing, so can you tell me if I am correct........if I am hoping for a slight chance of seeing fireworks from a CV room (if they even have them that time of year), should I request South wing, inner courtyard, away from lobby, 5th or 6th floor?
I have another ? We have a PS at Ohana's for 7pm on the day we will be at AK. If we leave AK @5pm is that enough time to stop back at WL then head over to Ohana's, or do you think we should just head right over there from AK? I wasn't sure about the travel times to and from anywhere.
Thank you, thankyou everyone!!!

You want a North Wing 5th or 6th floor room with a woods view. That should take care of what you want. Take note that the 6th floor north wing away from the lobby is a smoking area and trust me, if you go down there you will know it. :teeth: If you go all out and don't mind the extra cash, get a concierge upgrade (about $50 more a night) and get a view of it all from the 7th floor! :)

I would say you are cutting it a bit close. The bus ride from AK to WL is a long one and in many cases it makes a stop at Blizzard Beach first. Last May it took me close to 50 minutes for this ride. You would be rushing TOO much and that's just something "I" don't do when at Disney! I would suggest you change your PS to 6:15pm and go straight from AK to Ohana. This should work well for you. Remember, after having dinner at Ohana, you can take the monorail over to the Contemporary then take a shuttle boat over to WL. It's the way we do it and the ride is a nice way to top off a great day. :)

Most of all, enjoy your time at the lodge. ::yes::

The rooms you have marked are the "Bear Face" rooms. ::yes:: The two dormer windows (eyes) are located in the roof above the Concierge Level on the seventh floor...because of the roof line there are no rooms on the seventh floor that face the Inner Courtyard off the Lobby. The two smaller rectangular windows on either side of the gable (nose) are located on the seventh floor the one to the right is located by the table where the food offerings are placed, the following photo (taken from the area open to the Lobby) is the view from the top looking out toward Courtyard.

I haven't been keeping up with this thread, it's so huge, but one thing different from our trip to WL last year was that it appears they no longer offer the large size refillable mugs at Roaring Forks. Any questions?

I looked through the rest of the posts but I didn't see anymore about the large size refillable mugs at Roaring Forks. Am I to understand that there are no longer refillable mugs at WL?

:(

Bluejen

::yes:: If you want a Inner Courtyard View and a slight chance to see some of the higher fireworks from WISHES you would need to be located on one of the upper floors in the extended South-Wing, then you would have to look over the North-Wing's roof to see a few higher fireworks over the roof...but if you want a better view of the fireworks you would need to stay in a room on the North-Wing woods view like Majestic suggested. Then you may or maynot have a clear view those trees just keep growing...:p

On the sixth floor there is an area where you can view most of the fireworks from WISHES just take the elevator (the one located just down from Roaring Fork) up to the sixth floor when you get off the elevator you will turn right into the hallway...then take another right for about ten feet the hallway then turns back toward the Lobby, if you will stand there were the windows with the shutters are, you will have a great view of the fireworks. (Good Luck)

Majestic is also correct about travel time, if you are leaving AK at 5:00pm (closing time) you may have to wait longer for a bus. That being said...I have never lasted until 5:00pm at Animal Kingdom I would suggest leaving the park earlier, (you will be ready) This will insure enough time to freshen up before a luxurious, relaxing dinner.

Have a :wizard: MAGICAL TRIP :wizard:

No, well yes BluOrchid2 is a WL Vet and has stayed at the Lodge for quite a few years...The Lodge had two styles of refillable mugs...a large fat one that held about 20oz and the smaller slimer mug that holds about 16oz. Some time during the last year they stoped selling the larger fat mug...but they still offer the 16oz refillable mug.

I have both...:p

Thank-you, again, MAGICinMYHEART for clearing up the questions I had about the Bear Face rooms. I really hope we can get one of them our next trip. That was a nice photo from that area, too. Really wets my Wilderness whistle.

Also, I read where they have stopped selling the 20oz. refillables--bummer. That was my size (easier to tell which was the kids and which was the Dad's).

Majestic and Magic in my Heart...............thank you for replying!! We definitely have the courtyard view room, and I am extremely happy with that. Seeing fireworks from the room just would have been a nice extra, but not at all necessary. I definitely do not want a room on the 6th floor anyway if it is all smoking. Thank you for the tidbit on where to go to watch the fireworks on the 6th floor.
So I guess we won't need to be at AK all day. We'll be sure to leave before 5pm.
Thank you so much. You've helped me a lot!!
Jen
