The NEW Official November 2010 Countdown & Planning Thread ~ Come join us! (Part 2)

We always stop in Daytona before we go to Disney, though cause we have to get there earlier this year for FD we will after, but anyway, we will be in the water, the kids playing in the sand and people will walk by in sweats and they always, I am not kidding, always say, "where are you from up North?"
When we say Rochester, NY they just smile and nod. We are always a dead giveaway. No passing us off as locals.

Yep, that one is definitely I dead give away!! I couldn't imagine getting in the ocean anytime soon for the next several months!

GAH! We're leaving in 3 weeks and my house is a wreck!:scared1: I wouldn't care, but my mother-in-law is moving in for the week to take care of my son...:rolleyes1

Time to get cleaning, I guess!:laundy:

That'll def. get you motivated!! Hee Hee!!!! Just think,..it'll be an early Spring Clean...maybe your Fall Clean...and you won't have to do it again for awhile!!!:thumbsup2 Just put your tree up when you get over vacation!
I don't think my ticker is right. We're not leaving until the 19th so shouldn't it be 1 month 4 days? :confused3
Mine is off by one day also...it's the website we used..they are always one day off--they count up to the day before you leave..the day of (or vacation start day you entered), apparently gets no count down:confused3 don't know why.
Yeah, us true born southerners don't know what to do when those temps start dropping. But it is funny you want to move down here for the warmth because I want to move up north for the cool. (I have always figured it is easier to put on more layers to get warm then it is to take off enough layers to get cool.:upsidedow) Guess it just proves once again the old saying "the grass is always greener on the other side" is true! :thumbsup2

I have to say, I really do better in the winter...loooove the cold..abhor the summer! Ours is just ridiculous-the humidity is inhumane.

I'm on TourGuideMike too and when I log on there "he" says I have 35 days. Well, that means that my 30 day mark would be on 11/20, which is our first full day. It's craziness! LOL Think I'll just have DD pull off two numbers tomorrow so we'll have the right countdown. Tell me that's not OCD!

Ha!!! I know...me too!! Well...most of us on here probably have it..which is why we all agree on most things!!! My TGM date is right... I am at 28 days tomorrow, not today like this ticker...he has been spot-on this whole time...I know my 45 date for pymt due with Disney was on the day he had me at 45 days....hmmmm. Yeah, just tear those off like you want them..your brain will make you!!!! LOL
Speaking of brains...my Disney dream-terrors started up again last night... I dreamed we were at the Thurs of our trip and apparently had not went anywhere!!!!! I was freakin' out!! I said, we missed MK, our full epcot day and 2 days at HS so far!!! And my ADRS!!!!!!!! It was weird....I woke up tired from all that stress! Maybe I need to take my sleep aid until vacation so I won't dream so much!

One month!! I hope it is warm because I am freezing right now!!

Oh I can't wait to be warm again! Though I'm praying I don't have a repeat of my February trip where the highs were in the 50s. Yes it was better than the blizzard back home but still... too cold for me!

I have an ADR for 'ohanna at 1015 for 3 people for Saturday november 20 that I am going to cancel. We just want to spend the day at AKV and not run around to make breakfast. I haven't cancelled it yet, will wait a bit to see if anyone here wants it first.

Well, DH has done it again. Initially, we were leaving NJ on 11/5, driving to the last exit in GA, then driving to the Best Western Lake Buena Vista on 11/6, before checking in to AKL on 11/7. DH just informed me "What's another 3 hours drive time....we're going all the way to the Best Western on 11/5!"

If there is an upside to this, it's that now I may be able to take advantage of the Benefit Sale at Downtown Disney on the 6th. Does each person need a voucher, or is one enough for me and DH?:confused3

I have a QOTD if that is ok:

What is your favorite place (park or resort) to see christmas decorations and why? We are looking for some christmas spirit this year as we will miss going to MVMCP.

My favorite is the Gingerbread House at GF and I can't wait to see the Chocolate Carousel at the Beach Club... the Osbourne Lights are nice, but they just remind me of a big electric bill! :scared1:

Well looks like I will have to be taken off of the November countdown :sad1: (we had a boardwalk view 2-bedroom to arrive on 11/28 for 5 nights). It was my youngest 2 sons' first trip and we were all so excited to be going.

Life (finances) got in the way and now we may have to either cancel or reschedule to March 2011 (which isn't that bad - just was so looking forward to Christmas decorations). I won't know for sure for another week or so - wish me luck everyone!
Oh.. No.... I hope it all turns out for the best. If you do end up missing Nov. you can console yourself on the Flower & Garden Show. Its one of my personal favorites. The weather is usually perfect and the special garden areas are so beautiful we just find our favorites and hang out.

Here are a few more photos of Duffy ... along with Maggie and her roommate Hannah

I just showed these to DD8 and she's so excited. She has the book about Mickey and his teddy bear Duffy. She has to have the one that was in France and Driving... so you say $25?! Now its on the must-haves

WE drive from Northern VA to Kingsland at the most. Sometimes we stop in Richmond or Richland (?) Hills... its a suburb of Savannah.

I lost the quote... but someone whether saving 40% on a deluxe is better than free dining and staying at a value. yes it is. Of course, it depends on how much your family eats, but its NOT really free. You have to pay rack rate for your room and tickets. So where's the savings? Its not there because it costs Disney much more to discount the room than it does to give you the food. Remember the actual cost of the food is much much less than the price they charge you. When the meal plan first came out it included appetizer, entree, dessert, drink and tip. Now it doesn't include tip or appetizer. So, for one thing the convenience factor is out the window. You have to pay separately for alcohol, appetizer and tip. Also, with a Value resort you'll only get quick service. If you're like me, you'd rather eat a good breakfast, and snack around instead of lunch and then do dinner. I've done a comparison. Once time when we were NOT on the meal plan, we added up ALL of our receipts for food and meals and then compared that to the cost of dining plan and it was a wash. You'd save alot more with the room discount of 40%.

And.... I'm in Northern VA. I have not yet caved and turned on my heat. I know we will soon. I've been tempted, but then I decided to wear warmer PJs and forget the cami top. Today is breezy but delightful. My son is going to college in Florida and he is an hour from Disney. He regularly gives me updates on weather. He said its really been nice.. and this from a boy who wore sandals (Keens) in the snow on a mountain in Alaska.

Oh... and the question about footwear. I have the LLBean Explorer Sandals. They look alot like the Keens my son and husband wear. They're comfortable enough to wear all day, they're Kali River Rapids proof, and go with just about any kind of outfit. If you're from Florida, your feet will be cold. Everyone else will love them.

Add me to the list please. We will be staying Nov 6th-15th with a split stay. Nov 6th at Pop and then we'll move over to OKW. Only a little over 3 weeks :yay:

Hey, neighbor! Welcome to the November travellers! I grew up in RI (S. Kingstown) and now live in Foxboro, MA. We are flying down on SW out of PVD 11/6 on the 12:45 flight. Any chance we will see you there?

We are eating Buzz and Woody Mac & cheese while watching the Frog and the Princess. My 2 pirates (5) (10) are actually enjoying it. :lmao:
Not long now! Enjoy the weekend:cool1:

Ok, I am finally able to get on the boards after spending all day (literally) finalizing our plans- again!! I swear to you, my fellow November travellers, that I will NOT make any more changes to my ADRs once I am able to cancel the ones I no longer need (system issues tonight). DH REALLY wanted to make it for F&W, and now we will. So my ticker is off by one day now...

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Was talking to my DM (who is going with us) and we started talking about my letter for getting the kids out of school (need to turn it in by this coming Wednesday). Our school district only allows 3 days for vacation and then the rest will be put on their permanent record :sad2: My kids have hardly missed any school, my DD missed only 1 day last year and my DS missed 3.

What I mentioned to her is that maybe, I will only take them out for the 3 days and then the last two days, consider them sick days. Our school district allows 10 sick days per school year. I still need to speak to DH about this, hopefully he will agree. I know a lot of parents who do this and it doesn't seem to be a problem. What to do? :confused3

OMG that is my Disney nightmare too. We get to the end of the trip and we have done NOTHING. I had it about a week ago, and dreamed we had traveled with my parents. They don't do rides, crowds, or lines so we hadn't even been to the parks!!

Wow.... your school district is strict. At my daughter's school, our principal recognizes the importance of family vacations and that not all parents can take off during "school" breaks. She is very open to student travel. Here is it mostly up to the principal as far as I know. Not all are so understanding, but my friend took her children to Israel for several weeks (different school same district) and it wasn't an issue. I feel for you.. :sad1:

We have taken our kids out of school MANY times to travel... both my kids are great students ... DS is graduting this year and is 4th in his class with a 99.8 GPA so I am not worried at all about him missing a few days. Most of the time teachers are very understadning about it... I just let them know in advance. I already mentioned it to a couple of his teachers at open house and they were fine with it. But in the past I have called them in "sick" in the morning... the way I loked at it they would be "sick" about it if I was in Disney without them... therefore I had to bring them with me...

At least you get 3 days, we get none and they are all marked as unexcused. I hate that my DD16, a Junior, is going to have 5 unexcused in a row, but I'd hate more not traveling as a whole family. My DH is not allowed to take off when the kids are out of school. We only do it every 2 years, the other year the kids and I travel without him to visit the grandparents but it is not a "family" vacation. I told my DD16 if she didn't think she could handle it we wouldn't go but she seems fine with it. She said all her assignments are online and will only miss 2 lab days and those are easily made up after school so I hope she is right. I am glad it is her Junior year and not Senior year or we might have to skip.
