The NEW Official November 2010 Countdown & Planning Thread ~ Come join us! (Part 2)

YAY! Today my ticker says 1-1-1! We are all so ridiculously excited... even DH!! :yay::yay::yay:

As far as the school thing goes, we've never had a problem. As long as we inform the school beforehand, the days are excused. My son attends a cyber-school, so although he won't be 'going' to his classes, he can still turn in all of his work on time and can review his lessons after the fact so he's really not missing anything! But we planned our vacation when we did so the kids would miss as little as possible. Since we're leaving on Thanksgiving day, and they have off Friday and Monday following, they'll only miss 4 days of school for a 10 day vacation!

Picked up our travel stuff from the travel agent yesterday and got an unexpected surprise -

Our flight leaving has been pushed back a few hours so we get more time on departure day!! Now we're at a loss of what to do... We're thinking a late breakfast somewhere but unsure where... Suggestions?

Good Morning everyone!

I just found something new to stress about, when I tried tcheck my ADR's
on-line only 2 out of 7 were still there!:scared1: I know there is a hugh thread of others who are having the same problems and I have posted there too. I just wondered how all of you are coping with this new stress?

This is my Disney Nightmare!:scared1:

I am not cpoing well- that is how I am coping- LOL!!
I have been on the Disney site every few hours and have called twice (and they can't get into it either!!). Of the 5 I can't acess, 4 are must-dos, so I am really sweating it here. I know that they are probably there, but what if...

I just noticed that there are no months on my ticker- woohoo!!

I haven't worried much about it since I did a printout the day they were scheduled to go offline showing all my ADR's and numbers, I am sure they did a backup before they updated the system so somewhere the ADR info must be stored?

The ADR situation is minor as to what my weekend has been like. We maybe the lastest casulties in the November Vacation Cancellation :scared1:

A Major plumbing issue came up over the weekend which involves our heating system, we have a boiler and our hot water runs off of it (I think?:confused3) anywho haw we are looking at a very expensive replacement , then Ddil Great Aunt passed away and her Grandmother and Mother want her to go to the funeral they will pay but she will miss work and school which she can't afford to do if she is to go away in Nov to WDW :scared1:

Then the icing on the cake DS who has been out of work since last year, got a job offer thru a freinds DH who is a manager for his company but DS will not be able to take off for Vacation if he accepts the position.

I have been going over our plans since last evening, I hate to cancel everything especially since I found out there is a $100 cancellation fee pp on the air fare :scared1:

I checked and if just me and DH go we can stay at POP and with tix and DP it will cost us less than what we have paid for our room only at AKV. DH does not want to go if he has to stay there, so at my wits end and stressing, I am about to give in and just cancel the entire trip, why are DH aka Men so stubborn?

Wow! That is alot of stuff going on for you and your family! I hope that you can find a way to work it all out...

As to your question, I know in my family (just spent 8 hours Friday making DH's "slight change of plans" happen) it is because I do all the planning! If he had to do it, we would have a much different vacation...

We were going to do Ohana on our Departure day. I figured it had Mickey we could hop on the monorail for one last rideand wave bye to the beloved castle.

Years ago, when my sister and brother were in high school (same school district as my kids), they allowed 10 days for vacation. I wondered what happened? :confused3

As for how we are going to handle this? I spoke to my DH and we are going to take them out for the 3 days (the school will approve) and then call them out of school for the other 2 days. Luckily, we leave on Election Day (day off for the kids) and will take them out for the rest of the week. As for the next 2 days (Monday & Tuesday) other moms told me to say they got sick on the plane and have a fever.

Speaking of fevers, our school district wants you to keep them home until the fever has been gone for 24 hours. At least they got something right!

Have you looked into renting points from someone to stay at a DVC for less? I rented points from a friend of mine who rents them as a business and he had an $8 point special going on. Pm me if you want details

Last year our flight left around 2:30 so we had the morning to find something to do. We had breakfast at Cape May Cafe, it was so much fun! After, we thought about renting a surrey bike at the Boardwalk but it started to rain! We ended up watching old Disney cartoons in the loby until it was time for ME.

That is a big part of my frustration right now, I have been planning this trip since February, and it was finally just about perfect or so I thought, at the moment to me I could care less where I stay as long as I can keep my scheduled plans.

I just checked my ADR's on WDW website and the message I got was "Sorry, we are unable to retrieve your reservation. Please call the Disney Reservation Center at (407) 939-3463. If you are under 18 years of age, you must have your parent or guardians permission to dial this number."

Not sure if I should be worried or not? :confused3:confused3 Might have to call DRC and check on ADR's, but I gotta wait until the kids go outside to play.

We leave in 3 weeks and 5 days, and I recieved everything from the luggage tags and stickers to magical express booklet. I am sure if you keep all of your ADR's numbers we all will be fine.

I was getting the same message! I hope it's just a glitch on their end... I will cry (litterally cry) if I lost my birthday dinner reservation at Le Cellier. :sad1:

Me too!! I just checked to see if there was availability for Le Cellier for my date and time and there was nothing available, so hopefully that is a good thing

Wow, a girl has to work, can't check in to see what is happening & you are all chatting like crazy! :rotfl:

We are renting DVC also. Staying at AKV for soooo much less. Pretty much what it would have cost us to stay at a moderate with a good pin code or less. You might not be able to stay at AKV, but SSR or another DVC resort might have openings.

And anyway, I rely on your ticker to remind me how many days. It is simply not possible for you to cancel!

My family and I will be at CR 11/28-12/04 with my nephew turning 1 on Monday the 29th. I know he won't remember turning one in Disney World but we sure will! When we made our reservations and had to wait to hit the 180 mark for ADR's it seemed so far and now we are in the mid 40's. I seriously cannot wait!

:welcome:

Oh no Sheila! I really really hope things can work out and you can still go. I'm sure your son was really looking forward to the trip, but it's probably in his best interest to take the job and look forward to a trip in the future.

Could you and your DH stay at a moderate? Maybe that would be a nice compromise. They really have a lot to offer and are very comfortable, and don't cost a fortune.

Good luck. :wizard: Keep us posted.
