That does stink! Hopefully you will have it all better by November, but if not try to look on the positive side and think about all the lines you will be able to skip because of having to ride around in a chair. :thumbsup2

It might be fun to have an ECV and run people over. (just kidding!) ;)

My left knee has been bothering me for a couple of months but I didn't think much of it, just tried to work through it with exercise and Advil. A couple of weeks ago my doctor ordered an x-ray which showed not much of anything but after taking prescription strength Naproxin and icing my knee as advised, the pain was getting worse. So...she sent me for an MRI last Friday and I got the results today. I have a torn meniscus and a Baker's cyst and now I have an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon next Wednesday. I NEED this to be all better by November! Sorry for whining, I just can't help it. :sad2:

DH had a torn meniscus. He had surgery on it in March and was kicking butt around Disney by June! It is a really quick recovery. Well, atleast for a leg surgery it is. By 8 weeks, your back to normal! He was walking the same day he had it. Only took the heavy meds on the first 2 days. He said that a dry socket from having a tooth pulled was more painful. He was "stiff" for about 4 weeks. But as soon as he started PT, he started to notice the difference. Hope that gives you some comfort! You should be good by November. But make sure to push for PT after. It made all the difference in the flexibility.

I wish mine was something like that. But no, mine is because the idiots who built our house put a vent in front of the toilet. Not sure why you need a vent literally right in front of the potty. Maybe they thought it would prevent a cold bum? I dunno? But they didn't put support around it. So the area around it has always been weak. DH kept saying he would crawl under and fix it, but never did. We just got in the habit of not stepping on it. Well, the other night around midnight I walk in there half asleep and boom! My foot went threw the vent with the rest of my leg following. Yeah, it was nice. I didn't break my leg or anything. Just really messed it up. But I put one heck of a beating on the vent and duct work! LOL DH said he just wished he had a camera so he could have seen my face. I wish we did too! I could be a million dollar winner on Americas Funniest Videos, I am sure.

Whew, thanks for the encouraging words! From what I've read (the internet can be a dangerous place) it depends on the extent of the tear, but I'm hopeful. I also have this pesky cyst behind my knee, which I gather was probably caused by the tear. So that's gotta go too. Sheesh.

OUCH! Good incentive for your DH to fix that vent now. ;)

QOTD: What's your favorite place to eat at WDW??!!! :goodvibes

HMMM So many places I liked, but Cape May is always the first restaurant to go on the "Where I want to eat" list for each trip. I am a guy who likes his beef and they have a great roast beef, and now there are the crab legs, frankly, you can't lose.

Wow everyone is falling to pieces, we are going to have to move this thread to the disability board :rotfl:
But seriously I hope you both feel better soon at least it happened now and not closer to November.:grouphug:

My DH had surgery on a torn meniscus in January. He healed fairly quick and was back to 100% in about March. He went to PT 3X a week after the surgery for several weeks. And now he's all better and ready to run for those fastpasses!!! :rotfl:

So if they tell you that you need the surgery, schedule it as soon as you can to give yourself enough time to heal.

Just booked Kidani Villas for Thanksgiving week for me and my girls!! Can't wait!! Nov seems like forever away!!

You guys have been chatty! I haven't been on for a couple of days and had to read 3 1/2 pages to catch up.
Andrea, thanks so much for the article, I loved LOST and the ending was great!
Congrats on everyones ADR's.
My favorite thing to eat is a turkey club at Earl of Sandwich- so good!!!

Hey! Another Charleston girl! :thumbsup2

I had wondered what the northern most southern state in your siggie was ......we use to be neighbors sorta.....I lived in Ironton Ohio for 6 years :)

Summer lady...ditto on the surgery comments...my hubby had his the week after Momof2Disneyboys' husband had his...didnt even use the crutches the day of surgery..took pain meds and did the ice pack over the weekend and went to PT a couple of times a week for 2 weeks...but he was good before the PT...his tear was minor...just enough to need a surgery, but not a major rip or anything....i agree...schedule asap and you will be fine by the end of summer!!! Just don't overdo..my friend had it done and went back to jogging just a few weeks afterward and its been bothering her ever since...I personally think her Dr. was an idiot for letting her jog so soon....I think it was like 2 weeks later!!!!! That isn't even enough time for your incision to heal!!!!!
boy...this has been a long day---the weather has been miserable and I have fought a headache and lethargy all day! pitiful..... I see no relief in sight either....I say lets all leave the south and head to alaska...or antarctica....

This is your official Southwest update - they are now back to June 15 as the release date through January 7 or so :confused3

Just got off of the phone w/ WDW to check on Pirate & Pals Fireworks Cruises pirate: for November. They are still not scheduling Oct or Nov. They are waiting on some changes - maybe more boats & a price increase.

Thinking about sharing a Wishes Fireworks cruise. We did it two years ago & had a great time. There was a post on the cruise thread from someone with one booked for Nov 15. If they don't have room for my crew, anyone interested in sharing if I am able to book one?

Favorite food - key lime tarts & hot tea from GF on a Wishes cruise :cloud9:

can you give us some details about the cruise thing? I haven't talked to anyone who has done it..

Sure, if I remember correctly the pontoon boat (nicest one I ever saw!) holds 10 people. The music from Wishes was piped onboard the boat. I think there is a less expensive version w/o the music. I think it was/is around $350. Split by 10, not too bad. Departed from the GF docks about an hour or so before the fireworks started.

Our captain was great! We had 3 young boys on the cruise. He took us alligator hunting, stopped so we could watch the electric light parade, showed us some interesting things on the islands in the lake, told us about how WDW created the surfing for the Poly luau (which I don't think they do anymore) and a bunch of other things. Then he parked us in front of MK to watch the fireworks - amazing view!

You can order food from the GF private dining. DH took care of this as an anniversary present, so I don't know much other than it was yummy! He ordered an assorted dessert tray, mini cake w/ white choc castle on top & drinks.

Any other questions? :yay:

That is one of the joke slogans for our state. Also, I have been known to type 'West Virginia, NOT Western Virginia'. LOL

I say lets all leave the south and head to alaska...or antarctica....

Not Alaska! Alaska bites! Lived there for 4 years and have no intentions of ever going back! I would rather move to Death Valley! And I like the winter! So, thats saying something!

AWW...that sounds fun!! I will have to think about that!!! thanks for the info!! ...so it's 10 people total, right? We are 5,so it would be 5 others, or do they count little kids?
