Welcome!! And you will love the 50s...it's one of our Faves and must-do every trip!! Get the fried chicken!! WOW!
And I hate to admit...we do skip the AK Shocking, I know..but we have went the last 3 trips just so hubby and older son could ride EE--they asked not to go this time...we would rather do Hollywood twice than go to AK...and it's either sweltering or raining EVERY time I go there!! So,...rather than jinx it for everyone else, we are skippin....but that makes more room for AK lovers!!

We are among those who strongly dislike AK (I do hate to use the word hate!) We only go for EE & the Nemo show. But, I'm hoping for the best in Nov. SURELY it won't be sweltering in Nov?

Of course not...which means it'll rain!!! Just Kidding!! ha!! I just planned us a half day so they could do EE and they said forget it...they didnt want to go for just one ride....if they decide to go do it, me and the little two may meet them somewhere later....

First and foremost I am very sorry to hear about all of you who are dealing with cancer. A good friend is currently battling pretty aggressive breast cancer and I know how hard it can be on friends and family as well as the individual fighting. I will pray for you guys and send happy thoughts your way.

I am so happy I have found this thread. We are going to WDW for Thanksgiving this year. Nov. 21-27! I love the first few days of Thanksgiving week since the park is pretty quiet and then the last few days there are lots of people. I love the atmosphere when the park is full, but hate the lines.

Coming to this thread is just making me more anxious to go. I can't wait.

Soooooo, what do you think? I'd love you opinions.
We didn't do a lot of breakfast ADR's since we are staying at BLT and I am having some groceries delivered. And lunch we usually just grab at a quick service or grab a Turkey Leg.
Anyhow, my DS16 and DS14 are not excited about CRT. I am considering canceling it, but have not decided yet. I would love some feedback from people who have eaten there. Is the food worth the $198 I paid for it? I know the ambiance is. At least for me, maybe not for the too cool teenagers.

Can't wait to hear from everyone!

Let me introduce the crew:

Me 44, gets obsessed with disney once I have a trip in the works. I drive my family crazy cruising disney boards, making plans, talking constantly about the trip and generally making everyone around me wish they didn't agree to go, especially....

My DH 46, Not a huge disney fan, has been desperate to just go to a warm island for vacation and vows after every disney trip that its the last time we're going. Hehehe, this plan never works and alas we head back to the world. He always has a blast once he's there if only because my constant disney chatter will finally be coming to an end.

My DD 14, does not want to go because her favorite cousin is not going. Plus she is missing 4 days of school, high school, no less. This was not the original plan. We planned this trip because she would only be missing 2 days of school (teacher conference, holidays etc) but then we switched her high school so now she is missing 4 days UGH!

My DS 12 (at time of travel) YES! he is on board and super psyched. He's finally tall enough to ride RRC and he's manned up enough to try some of the rides he was afraid to do last time, namely TOT and EE. WooHoo!

My DD 8 Also on board, making a paper chain with our remaining days to rip one per day as a countdown. I love her enthusiasm.

We are traveling also with three neighbors and their families.

The J family
Mom, Dad, and three DD ages 11, 7 and 4.

The K family
Mom, Dad and DS 12 and DD 9.

The C family
Mom, Dad, DD 15 and DD 12.

It should be interesting.

Now to the plan which has undergone several thousand changes. When we started we were offsite now we are onsite etc.

We are not very big fans of AK either. But this trip, we have vowed to stay in the park a full day! We will see how it works out, but I feel like I have really missed alot there. It is always so hot when we normally go that it is hard to stay there past noon.

Got a question to all you photogs like myself, have you ever went to WDW and not taken your DSLR but took a point and shoot instead? After killing my last DSLR there last year, I am so afraid of something happening to my new one. Plus the idea of not carrying my massive cam bag sounds pretty awesome. If you did "downsize", did you regret it?

Thurs 11/11
Arrive at MCO around 10:00am
DME to POR Day at pool and later to DTD to shop and dinner at T-Rex OOP.
We are all eating together the first night so it should be fun. We had to do no parks and no DDP today because it was a black out day for the free dining so we did this as a room only night for $130ish.

Fri 11/12
We usually do MK first but we wanted to catch F&W at Epcot so Epcot it is.
6:50 Le Chef's with just my dh and kids. This is our first time at Chefs and I cannot wait to try it. DH wanted TeppanEdo but we did that last time and even though we liked it I wanted to try something different.

Sat 11/13
MK We will lunch at a CS somewhere. We didn't really plan the CS places as we are traveling with such a huge crowd we will play it by ear. Dinner 6:45 at GFC with the J family. This is also a first for us. Back to MK to catch Wishes. Wishes is only playing 2 times this week because of the VMMCHSEIJDLA or whatever you call the christmas party.

Looks like we may bump into you guys. We will be checking into Riverside the morning of the 12th and will be spending that day in Epcot after a early class for the boys in the MK. Then we will be in MK for the whole day on Saturday.

Yes and it just about killed me! Just kidding I love my DSLR but really dont like lugging it around. I dont like 'wearing' a DSLR in the parks and if I have a bag with me, I miss shots because I dont have my camera ready. I got great shots with my p&s last year even though I have a love/hate relationship with it. Here is a great website that I found helpful. There is one contributer that uses only a p&s and has amazing pictures. It has really helped me when composing shots, especially when not using my DSLR. I will be taking my p&s again this year... with no regrets!

Many thanks to those who send good wishes and prayers.

Mom, with a few days to consider all the options, has decided to go with radiation therapy rather than surgery. She's comfortable with her wishes as are my sibs and I. And, because the steroids have begun to work, she's been able to regain the use of her leg and arm again, with limitations of course.

Excited and scared all at the same time! And amused that my first "Big girl trip" (planned, organized and paid for all of it my self) is to Disney... a place where I'll revert to being a kid

don't think anyone has answered your siggie question yet...

you need to click the User CP button and in the row of options to the left is a selection edit signature

choose that...you can add in your names, some smiley's etc...to add a countdown, the eaiset thing to do is to click on someone else's though mickeypath or distickers etc....this will open an additional internet window and follow the direction on those sites to add your banner, slide, date and title...you will receive a url/img code that you will need to copy and paste in the siggie eidt box...

you can preview first to see how it looks....then save and it's done...

keep in mind you have a limit of how much you can put on there etc...takes some practice...also check out the help threads and there are a few sticky threads to "test" your siggie to make sure nothing got cut off...

I just use my Sony Cybershot point & shoot and get some pretty awesome pics at WDW! It is very tiny and I can't imagine carrying anything larger at Disney. I like to travel very light to the parks!

I am glad to hear you guys don't mind using a P&S. It has been so long since I used one. While I wasn't actually the person who let my camera get rained on last year and I carried it for 2 years prior with no problems, I just get worried that I will somehow break this one. And I really don't think DH is going to like buying me a $800-1k camera every couple years. So maybe a P&S is the way to go this year. I can always take my new cam next year if I miss it this year....

Excited and scared all at the same time! And amused that my first "Big girl trip" (planned, organized and paid for all of it my self) is to Disney... a place where I'll revert to being a kid
