Thanks! Yes - he always makes sure to be the center of attention!!

It is in the 90's here again today and so humid it makes your skin crawl. Hoping to get some relief this weekend.

Have fun at the swim meet and good luck to your kids! :cheer2: Try to stay cool!:cool2:

Girls always love a man that can dance!

My DH and I may have to rotate shifts this year. I seriously can't take this kind of heat and humidity. The kids have a blast though. Everyone puts out sleeping bags and they play cards and make crafts until their event is called. We also eat a lot too!

I haven't been a frequent poster, but it's been fun reading everyone's experiences and seeing photos of everyone's trips in this forum! It's such a great way to keep excited about a trip that's been in the works for what seems like forever!

I had a couple of questions. I had seen the mention on here before about the blackout dates in November for the Monster Pin and the Free Dining - our dates fall in that period. I've been kind of freaked about that, because I wanted to pick a week that would have low crowd levels. Then I saw someone else mention the golf tournament down there, as a possible reason for the early closing of MK that week and a possible reason for the blackout date. So I'm wondering, is the tournament a good thing or bad thing in terms of crowd levels at the parks? I'm thinking that if rooms are booked up with people going to the tournament (and not the parks), that's got to be a good thing, right?

Also, I've been trying to follow the Question of the Day since I first joined this thread, and there have been a lot of questions for you experienced Disney-goers to answer - any chance a question could be: What is your best piece of advice for a first time Disney vacationer? I'd love to hear your responses! :flower3:

Know before going what attractions are a "must" this trip, knowing you can not do everything , that way you will not be disappointed by unrealistic touring goals, have a good schedule before going for times of fireworks, parades etc if they are on your 'must" list.
Plan a little down time if you can going comando in the parks can stress everyone out and ruin a vacation.

Hey Guys, quick check in! I am home. I feel like I have been in the gym and done a gazillion sit ups with 100lbs on my stomach, but other wise I am good. I am sure tomorrow will be rough tho. I haven't taken anything stronger then a motrin or tylenol. I get so sick from meds. So I am toughing it out. I would rather hurt then throw up.

I hope your DH is felling better. And I hope the remainder of July is better for you.

Oh and while I was in pre-op I got a phone call from my TA (yes, I had my phone with me in pre-op. I am a iPhone addict! ;) ) that free dining was extended. We couldn't change our dates to make it fit, but we would have gotten a better deal if we could. Did anyone here get the benefits of it?

Glad to hear you are home :),

TY DH went to see His Dr today and has to return next week for a battery of tests just to be on the safe side

We are staying with a room discount so no FD here anyway our week is blacked out

DH colasped when he got home from work today, fell outside cut his knee etc....I called 911 since he was not coherant any how the emt took his bp and it was 90/50 and he was cold and clamy instead of hot and sweaty if it was heat related so to be safe they took him up to the hospital. I stayed with Dmil and dog DS and his wife are up with DH who is in having a CAT scan right now , don't know if they will keep him or not :confused3
I wanted to go but with my Asthma and the heat wave I did not risk it for fear I would end up in a bed next to DH:lmao:

July is not a good month for me , My Mom and son both passed away in July , well just needed to talk to someone while I wait here to hear what is going on

Thanks for listening

so glad to hear that he is home and okay.. I hope the next round of tests show nothing serious.

TY I have my fingers crossed, DH was a bit miffed at me for calling 911 but I am glad I did since it spurred his Dr to now run these tests, I know one is an echo cardiogram or something and then some tests to see if he is at risk for a stroke.

Good luck with your knee surgury.

My DH could have retired May of 2009 but he said he was going to wait till January 2010, then he changed his mind hearing they might offer a deal ($$$ ) so he decided to wait until July, then someone he works with told him I think for every month you stay past past 35 years you get $20 dollar more a month retirement so he tells me he is waiting till January 2011-- I told him no you can't were celebrateing your retirement when we go to Disney in November

Any way I will be glad if he just does put in the papers now like he said he was going to do last night, if he did not have a job where he works outside and in the elements (he is a letter carrier) I would not be pushing for him to retire but at his age he can not do this for ever not to mention he commutes 35 miles each way every day, so between gas and wear and tear on the car what good is it to keep working for a little extra money each month he will save that amount in gas alone, but you know men they don't listen :rotfl:

Mine turned 62 this past November, the original plan was for him to retire at 60. Well...pfffft! I'm hoping for this winter, but I can't get him to make up his mind for sure. He's a union carpenter, works mostly in NYC office buildings so he's got a long commute like your DH, about 50 miles each way. Between gas, tolls, the cost of just getting around the city, that'd be grocery money for the week, you know? Plus, we don't have any other transportation options out here in the sticks so driving it has to be.

Yep, I know too well about men not listening!

Good luck ladies with gently persuading your husbands to retire. I think men are afraid because so much of their identity is wrapped up in their jobs.

My oldest turns 16 today. I can't believe he is 16. Where did the years go? He won't get his license until Dec.

Here it is 6:00 and I'm off to the swim meet. Warm ups are at 7:00. Talk to guys on Sunday.:crazy:I hope I don't go crazy from the heat!

It is scarey how fast time passes, one day they are babies and the next all grown up , speaking of scarey I do not envy you going through the first drivers license'

Try to stay cool at your swim meet , the temp is suppose to be a bit lower here today only in the 90's  but the humidity is up, it was just awful out there this morning when I took the dog out

Good morning. It's actually acting like it might rain here, maybe knock out some of the humidity!
My oldest will be 12 soon, and off to middle school. Luckily, I still have my 6 yr old. When he's not little anymore I'm gonna cry forever!

So, we haven't had a QOTD for a bit. Here's one for you:
If you could work at WDW, what job would you want?
I would like to help decorate rides and work on the costumes.

I do not envy any of you with "Old" boys or the "Young " men. DH will be 45 yrs in Sept and I will swear sometimes He is really 14 yrs:rolleyes1. Now our Dks our 25, 24, and 20 and they will all tell us how they are "Grown" and what they do is not our business , and in the same breath ask for a check:confused3..... my $$$ my business:thumbsup2. I like my dogs better alpt of the time now, they do not talk back ..do not ask for expensive "Toys" and if they do not get it they always love me:cloud9: HAHAHA.

I still can not believe it has only been 6 days that we have been back from the world! I need to go back ... almost at the 90 day mark:banana:

Glad to hear everyone is doing well and at home, it proves the power of Pixie Dustpixiedust: Hope to see some of you at WDW in Nov, I had my green ears attached to my bag and nobody said Hi:confused3. I did see one Disser at the red phone in UK, DH answered the phone and he was asking for fish-n-chips to be delivered. DH asked where did he want them sent and what would be his method of payment upon delivery , he said right behind you:scared1:hahaha was to fun. Jenn.

I have wanted to work at Disney since the first time I visited in '89 but could never get DH to consider moving there, I have even suggested moving to Florida when he retires since he keeps saying about getting a part time job and I am pushing for a Disney Job for him

When I was younger and not bothered so much by the temperature extremes I would have loved to work in the MK as a CM not a charactor just one who was around and about or Maybe work in one of the stores or attractions

Now I would want to work at one of the resorts inside(in the A/C) at the check in or guest services since I always did customer service before I retired

I have uttered many many times " In my next life I am not having kids only a dog" :lmao:

My second oldest just turned 12 May 31. Jayda, my youngest, is turning 8 on the 24th and that I'm afraid is really breaking my heart. :( (Of course turning 40 myself on Monday isn't helping :rotfl:)

I have wanted to work at Disney since I was a child. My hubby is willing to move, but haven't quite been able to find the right job yet that would make the move feasible.

I would love to work as a pastry chef, but with my actual job experiences, being a meeting planner is more feasible and what I actually look for when I look at the Disney website.

True! :rotfl:

Looks like we have another day of this unbearable heat here. . . Supposed to be 95 and so humid. I think the temp is getting close to that already and it is only 11:00. :faint: We are on something like day 10 of no rain. That's almost unheard of around here! :rotfl: But it looks like tomorrow is the day -- rain and a bit cooler temps!

Oh, great question! :cool1:

I have always said I would like to work in reservations for them. Mostly because I usually know more than the CM's do when I call! :upsidedow As far as at the parks/resorts. . . definitely something inside in the AC! Maybe the lobby greeter at an awesome resort! :goodvibes Selling Dole Whips would be fun too! :lovestruc

My DH's company has an office/plant less than an hour from Orlando. I just can't get him to make the move though! :upsidedow We do however have a 10 year plan!! At least we talk about it! :rotfl: Moving down there in 10 years from now, after DS8 graduates HS. We do have a really good school here and would hate to pull them out of it.

So that's the plan! Probably will never happen, but a girl can always dream. :cloud9:

I am 40 and happy it is the NEW 30  I would not want to be 20 something again for anything. I have the smarts , experience and the wallet to go along with my big 40 and non of the issues the real 20/30 somethings have. We can go to the world and be big kids and not worry are we looking:cool1:. You will love it! Happy Birthday.... it is not the year but the person that personifies the age. Be fabulous and paint WDW RED. LOL:lovestruc

My oldest, Jessica, always is quick to tell me dreams do come true! :rotfl: She wanted to go Disney last year for her b-day. She saw the promotion for getting in free on your b-day in Jan. and said that was what she wanted. I told her to keep dreaming because I just couldn't do that. Well, hubby and I got to talken and decided turning 13 was a very big deal for a girl and that I would take her, as I had an annual pass and the trip wouldn't be overly expensive. Long story shortened just a bit... I took her and her best friend on Jessi's b-day and we even did the MNSSHP. So now, when I tell her to keep dreaming, she tells me she will because dreams do come true! :rotfl2: The lil turkey!!!:rotfl:

Thanks! I think it is the idea of being 40 that bothers me more than actually being 40. Does that make sense, LOL? And like you, I would not want to be in my 20s again!! :scared1: All that was hard enough the first time and I have no desire to go back!! :woohoo:
