Happy Sunday!

I started running May 1st and yesterday I ran my first 5k, my goal was to finish in less than 40 mins and I ended up finishing in 32:38 :cheer2:

The race was so much fun that I can't wait to run my next one and I am even more excited for the Princess!! Y'all have been a great inspiration to me!

There have been several posts for new Princesses wondering if they can do this, I believe that you can do anything you put your mind to, just take it slow and steady. One of my mantras as I ran yesterady was to focus on running MY race. Don't compare yourself to anyone else, just focus on what you need to do to finish. Just think about it, even if you finish dead last, you are still among only 15% of Americans that have completed a 1/2 marathon.

I hope everyone has a Happy Sunday and a great next week!! Keep on moving forward!

OK so who saw Brave this weekend?? Anyone else already contemplating a Brave-themed race outfit? The last couple of years, the medal's stone and lanyard color and the 5k theme have gone along with the the latest princess at the time...I wonder if 2013 will follow suit or if it will be different because it's the 5th anniversary of the race? I can't decide which I'd like better! :confused3

I am hoping for something different for the 5th but mostly because I am afraid the Brave colors will be so dark though it is Disney so I am sure it will be amazing and beautiful so honestly I don't care, I just can't wait for the bling!!

I thought maybe a nice shade of orange for her hair would be pretty...but I don't know if they've used orange yet...or even a teal color like the dress she wore in the move would be pretty. Who knows...I look forward to seeing what they do though!

Must admit - I am already considering her in my rotation of which princess I want to be next year! I have somewhat curly hair, and I thought if I get some of that spray-on color and those squishy rollers that you can wind up really tight while you sleep....hey, it's an option!

Hello, Im planning to run Princess 2013 as my first half. Never been to this page before and I am loving all the info.

I wanted to know if anyone has some advice on running faster.. I am deathly afraid of being swept. I've been running for 6 months and just reached 5 miles with out stopping yesterday.. But I run soo slow. Around 17 min miles. My best pace was 14.44 and I have had a 45 min 5k time once. I've lost 70lbs and have about another 70 to go at least. Any advice you can offer would be amazing.

Thanks to everyone for posting!

I saw it with my boys and they LOVED it! My fiery red-headed son declared that I must be on Team Merida for the PHM! :thumbsup2

Have not seen the movie yet....but at any point did she wear a tiara?

I am SO looking forward to wearing one at this race since I don't do anything special for the DL 1/2, and the Tinker Bell 1/2 is all about green and wearing wings. I plan on running this race wearing a tiara on my head !!!! Finally this princess can put her tiara on and run.:woohoo:

I thought about that too :) she doesn't wear one but her mom, the queen, does wear a fairly simple one...and I suppose since she's the princess you can assume it will be hers at some point, right? ;)

First of all, congrats on your weight loss! That's awesome that you can run for 5 miles without stopping! Not many people can do that. How many times a week do you run? Are you crosstraining any? Biking or swimming?
It's hard to run fast during the summer, with the heat. I think if you just consistently train, you will see your time go down when fall rolls around.
If you are really concerned with your speed right now, get to the track and do some speed work. I'm doing speed work tonight. I'll warm up (800 jog/walk) and then I'm running mile intervals. I'll run my first mile the slowest, stop, get a drink, get my breath.. then run the next. I'm doing this four times. It's tough, but it works!

Anyone here have IT band issues? When it first started, how long for you to get it resolved?

Mine started mid May, but I didn't know what it was and kept running. Then I rested it for 2 weeks, then started foam rollering. That helped a lot, but it was still there. Finally went to doc, and am seeing a PT. Man, she's awesome at working that thing out!

But curious on how long it takes to get this to go away totally? I am doing the stretches, exercises, rolling, etc... but is this going to be forever for me to keep this from happening again or will I be able to stop all this extra stuff at some point?

Curious if you had to have your leg worked on- how long did the issue persist?

My IT band was so bad before the princess that is was lumpy, I went to the sports doc (2 of them) and they said rest but I could not rest as it was time for the princess. Its better now, but I have not pushed myself for a few months, BUT its still there, its not 100%

UGH! Not what I want to hear! LOL

Mines not that bad- but it does hurt like a mofo at times.
