Beck - I think we have a lot of the same parenting styles.

I think so too. And sometimes it seems like we have the same kid. :rotfl2: Vaylie hated her infant carrier too, and as soon as we switched to the convertible car seat, she instantly didn't mind car rides.

And the JD- well it depends on who's crankier. ;) :lmao:

OT- I keep waking up with the most heinous headaches. I get migraines and tension headaches (I know- lucky me. The ONE good thing about being pregnant was that I had no headaches for 9 months. Threw up so much I had a feeding tube- but my head didn't hurt!) So anyway, I have been up at 5:30 am the past two days with horrible headaches and it's making me miserable. :guilty: I have Rx meds, but even after I take them I am so wiped out I just want to lay around, but I have to go to work.

Beck- good advice, i just have to sit him down and let him cry and not be so much of a momma's boy! he's gotta learn sometime, although i do love it sometimes. :goodvibes

Bethany, what a heck of a morning......i say you just get in a bubble bath and stay there. Will had a major puke last night. he has had 3 in the last 10 days or so- he chokes or has a bad gag reflex when trying to give him tylenol and suddenly he is throwing up for a solid minute and there is so much coming out- i could fill a huge big gulp cup with it all. i am going to mention it to the doc at his 9mo appt next week. he just laughs after he does it. not sure what the deal is. of course DH had been throwing him in the air and stuff, so maybe he just got shaken up last night. he puked all over my shirt, it was dripping wet, it was so much. then spit up on my new shirt after that too. so i sympathize iwth the changing clothes. then tinkerbell puked on the door mat this am.......between the pets and babies.....:rotfl: :rotfl2:

Beck- hope your headaches are better. I used to get migraines, but not really severe. My sister still gets them and takes rx for them. I forget what it is, but it knocks her out completely and is really expensive even with insurance. doesn't help much to take if you can't function.

so i put our reservation request for Dec 09 into dreams unlimited today. has anyone used them before? I am coordinating our big trip for 14 of us next year. 10 day at WL, park hoppers and dining plan.

ExWDWCM - we're planning on going to WDW then too! I'm planning on renting DVC points so we can fit a bunch of us in one of the big 2 bedroom places. I'm so excited!!!

As for letting them cry sometimes, I hated doing it when he just wanted to be held. I would put off doing anything if he just wanted to play, be held, etc. Finally, I had to start putting him down just to be able to pee. After I did it a few times, he was totally over it. Now, he hollers for a second, looks at me like "Well?", and then moves on to whatever else he might decide looks like fun.

This morning, I plopped him on the floor so I could jump in the shower. While I was in there, he managed to open the toilet lid (who knew he even knew how :scared1: ) and dumped all his tubby toys in there. Then he found the toilet paper...... So, I get out of the shower, and let him play on the floor in our room while I got dressed for work. He opened a drawer, found a candle, and ate a chunk of it before I could get it from him. All this before 7am..... :)

Michelle, it's been years but I used Dreams back in 2001 and they did a FANTASTIC job coordinating our trip. My agent's name was Cathy M. (not sure if I should post her last name since they do help on this site) and she was GREAT! :thumbsup2 I haven't been to Disney since 2001 and it will probably be another 5 or 6 years before we make it again. I'm okay with that though as Mo is our priority and as he gets older there will be "cheaper" places we can go til then. Stone Mountain GA, World of Coke, Atlanta Zoo, Atlanta Aquarium....anyone see a pattern here???? :rotfl2: :goodvibes Hoping to be there in the next two years if not sooner. :woohoo:

Zoe has done that the couple times I have given her tylenol..but she is totally a puker anyway. Yesterday morning ia was on the computer and the twins were playing on the floor..Zoe puked her bottle...an hour after she had drank it. Good thing she puked on the hardwood part of the floor..she puked at leas a couple of ounces.

What I don't understand is why does he cry all the way home and stop cold when I hit the driveway??!!

Now THAT is strange, it's almost like he's messing with you!

I get migraines and tension headaches from time-to-time, but not bad enough for prescription meds. I find that if I can head them off at the first sign with some Excedrin Migraine, I can sometimes avoid them. That is kind of hard to do when you wake up with a headache, but maybe you could try taking something before you go to bed? I hope you are feeling better!

Isn't it fun when they start getting into things? I used to leave DS in the bathroom when I would shower too. Then one day when he was about 4-5 months old, I heard a springing sound, so I looked out to check on him. He had discovered the doorstop, which seemed ok, until I noticed that he was chewing something. He had managed to get the little white rubber stopper off and popped it in his mouth! I don't think I've ever jumped out of the shower faster b/c I was convinced he would choke on it. Then I made DH go around the house and remove the little white piece from all the door stoppers in the house!

Well, I managed to stay in the same clothes for the rest of the day yesterday! :thumbsup2

Last night my good friend, M. was doing childcare during our Bible study meeting, and less than a minute before we ended the meeting, Owen spit up all over her! She took it in stride - her DD was a major blat baby and I was their nanny for a couple years, so she said it was payback for the times her DD spit up on me.

Becky, I hope you're feeling better soon. Stinks that you have to go to work when you're feeling yucky. Wouldn't it be nice to just be pampered sometimes instead? :goodvibes

I used Dreams Unlimited when we did our last trip (May'05 - how horrible that it's been so long! :sad1: ), and I thought they were helpful. A couple little miscommunications, but nothing that couldn't be easily fixed or worked out. It was nice having them deal with the ADR's and such.

Isn't it amazing how much trouble one small child can find in such a short amount of time? :) Owen has really picked up steam on his rolling to get where he wants to go, and I can no longer set him down on the floor in any room and expect him to stay there unless I close the doors. Yesterday he rolled out of his bedroom and into the living room and was munching on papers from the recycling basket by the time I got out of the bathroom! The babyproofing has picked up steam in our house these days! ;)

i need some caffeine.

I hear ya. Hope you find some! :)

I've been a little MIA, crazy weekend and I'm still catching up!!

We used DU for the 10 night Southern cruise on the Wonder, they were great.

I'm in the 2 week wait...UGH. I hate waiting to take a pregnancy test!

I have been having very strange dreams the last 2 out of 3 nights and they were completely out of left field and have been messing w/my mind galore! I dreamt that hubby left me and moved back to our 1st apartment we had together. And for some reason, I ended up w/our camper and I was camping w/out my kids. I have had 2 people say.... are you pregnant?

I surely hope so.

have you been trying then Stacy? good luck!! the 2ww was always torturous.

How cool Jen- maybe we can try and meet up next december then. how many are going in your group? where are you going to try and stay with your points etc.

Denise- where in nw florida are you, how far of a drive is it to WDW? we will be doing things in the dallas area for a while too- local is always cheaper and it is nice being close to home and not taking him off schedule too much all the time, especially when he is still under a year. doesn't atlanta have an awesome aquarium? I might be in Atlanta for a show in late september, i've only passed through the airport before.

Yes, this is month 3. First DS was 1st try...2nd was all different. 2.5 years w/several infertility treatments.

Hubby and I were suppose to have a vow renewal 12/09 at WDW. But at this point, we are putting it off, unless I don't get pregnant in the next 6 months.

I don't want to be pregnant for it and if we do end up having another child in the next year. I won't be working anymore...so we'll need more time to save. Our current $$ for it would be more of an emergency fund w/me staying home.

I was accepted to a local college for Early Childhood. I just want to get my certificate at this point. It's something I've always wanted to do. I just met my husband 6 months too late or I would be a teacher right now. I was trying to go with the financial end vs my heart when I picked my final major.

I only have to take about 6 classes, so it should be bad. I'm very excited though. I had wanted to start in the spring, but have the option of the fall. Just need to look into how much the course is actually going to cost as I do not want to finance...still paying off the balance of my lovely BS.

I really enjoyed my ECE classes, but I didn't discover them until after I'd spent $$$$ and earned a BMusic. I'm still paying that off, plus the 3 yrs. of part time grad school, and I don't have my certificate yet, either. It might be too late for me, though. We'll see...

Hope you can get your certificate soon, and that the classes go well!

I finished my Bachelors in ECE in may of 2006. Before that I earned my associates, also in ECE. I did my bachelors through a 1 night a week program at Mt. Olive College. They have a sattellite campus here and it was very convenient. I already had most of my basics and just needed the ECE hours. I took a Dante's test to get a health credit and arelligion credit I needed. I was in the program about a year and a hald and I was done!

TiggerStac - the 2ww is horrible, isn't it? I'm with you - I'm just killing time for the rest of this cycle to do IUI next month.

exwdwcm - we're hoping for AKV or BCV. But pretty much where ever we can get points for a 2 bedroom. So far, there are 6 adults and a 2 year old. We're hoping if we take 1 bedroom ourselves, then Christopher can sleep in our room and go to bed at a normal hour for him. That leaves my sister and our cousin sharing the fold out couches, but both of them are cool with it.

Bethany - isn't it amazing when the little things like not having to change clothes during the day seem great? :) I get all excited when Christopher makes it through an entire day without an outfit change. I've given up on making it there myself....

For those of you who have flown with babies, any tips on getting through security? What do you do with your stroller/car seat? Any special tips on flying with a baby?

We're heading to MN to visit my family in a few weeks (:cool1: I can't wait to be back 'home'!!), and DH is having a lot of anxiety about the whole flying with Owen stuff. He's nervous about going through security, checking in, boarding, flying, getting off, etc. etc. etc. If there's some little thing to worry about, he's worrying about it!

I've found information on boarding and carry-ons on the airline website (Northwest), so he's feeling more reassured about that, but I know nothing about getting through security with a stroller and carseat, and I honestly can't remember watching anyone do it and can't remember how it works.

Oh, and DH has decided that he's going to stand guard over Owen during boarding and unloading and won't let "any crazy people try to stuff their big honking oversized bags into the overhead compartment right over my boy" because he's convinced they'll drop it on Owen.

This is cracking me up that hindsight is working for all of you too.

I should have graduated in 2005 with my BA in Liberal Studies (worthless, but I wanted to get out). BUT- I ended up having some really tough things to deal with and I took an incomplete on my senior assignment, and although I had worked on it, I can't quite make myself finish it. And I realized it's because it's not what I want to do at all. SO, I am 2 credits away from my BA.

AND- I think I am going to go back and change what I'm doing. Or, retake my senior assignment, and then get a new BA, maybe in psych or possibly nursing...

Stacy- good luck on your 2ww!!

I have been halfheartedly trying to talk DH into getting pregnant, or at least planning the next one somewhat. He's not all that into it. He wants another kid, but is so scared for me to get pregnant- it was really hard on him the 1st time with me being so sick. :guilty:

We are in Crestview FL...Pensacola and Panama City Beach might sound more familiar to you. We are one hour from one and a two hours from the other. It's about a 6 to 6 1/2 hour drive to Orlando. I've done it by myself in just a little over 6. I was on my way to the CP and I drove like a madwoman because I hate making long trips by myself. :car: :moped: The aquarium in Atlanta is off the chain! :thumbsup2 A couple of the belugas have died and their whale shark died. I'm glad I got to go the first half year they were open and got wonderful pictures of both before they were lost.

Oh, and DH has decided that he's going to stand guard over Owen during boarding and unloading and won't let "any crazy people try to stuff their big honking oversized bags into the overhead compartment right over my boy" because he's convinced they'll drop it on Owen.

It depends on if you bought a seat for Owen or not. We prefer to buy DS a seat, so he can be in his own car seat for a couple reasons 1) it is safer, and 2) he is way too wiggly to try to hold still for longer than 5 minutes! So when DS was in the infant carrier, we put that in his snap-n-go stroller, then brought the whole thing to the gate. Gate-checked the stroller, and carried the car seat on the plane.

Now that he is in a convertible seat, we push him in his stroller to the gate, and carry the carseat with us, usually on a luggage roller.

Security isn't really too bad, though I think most TSA's will ask you to take the baby out of the stroller, and they also have to remove shoes if wearing them.

As for your DH, that's cute that he's so overprotective, but my guess is that he hasn't flown for awhile, b/c that's all anyone carries anymore. It's to the point where on my last few flights this month, there are too many large bags to fit on the plane and they also end up having to gate-check. My suggestion is to put Owen on the middle or window seat so he is safer from all the passers-by anyway, and put your own bags up there, then close the hatch so nobody else will try to put stuff above you and have to worry about Owen.

Then try to relax and enjoy your trip home! I used to spend a lot of time in MN for work, and it is much nicer there this time of year than it is here!

Good luck with TTC again Jen & Stacy!

I didn't realize so many of you were in early childhood. I feel so out of place with my accounting degree. But I have to admit that sometimes I am totally bored with my job and wish I could do something else. But I don't really know what else I would want to do. :confused3

Did you get owen his own seat or is he a lap baby? DS has flown a ton in the last 15 months and we are flying tomorrow. Tomorrow is the first time he has his own seat.

When he was smaller, up until about 8 months, he was easy as a lap baby. DH and I would each have an isle seat across from each other because DH needs an isle and I refused to be in the middle with a baby! DS was easy to entertain and we would pass him back and forth. I felt safe and had a good hold on him as well. I have flown with him as a lap baby a few times alone and never had a problem. As far as security goes, most require you to take the baby out of the stroller and put the stroller, wheels up, through the machine. Both of our strollers have fit no problem. The infant carrier fit fine as well. Then one of us, usually me since it's on my ticket + infant, carries him through security. Really very simple. We gate check the stroller and the infant car seat. We checked the convertible car seat a few weeks ago in a bag.

I am freaking out about tomorrow. I am flying home with DS alone and he has a seat. I am going to bring his Britax Marathon on the plane. I thought about checking it and just having him in his seat but I think he will be too wiggly because he isn't used to it. i thought about buying the CARES harness but I think he's too little to understand it right now. I figure it will be easiest for him in his carseat since he 'knows the drill' with being in the seat.

I am mentally prepared for getting on the plane with the carryon, DS, the stroller and the carseat. I have NO IDEA how I am going to get off the plane!!! I have a bag for the carseat that has a shoulder carrier that I need to get the carseat in on the plane in order to carry it, DS and the carry on off the plane!!! I figure someone will take pity on me and help me out!! Wish me luck.
