OMG I just saw a commercial for the cutest toy. I want one.

Little Tikes Giddy Up and Grow Pony

609268_ol_full.jpg

Did you see the dinosaur one of these?? I saw it in person today, too cute!! Ya...really want to get one of those, but I'm being good.....my kids have enough toys.

Daddy's back works just fine...he crawls around w/brady on it all the time.

It must be no napping day. Christopher just went down (usually it's more like 11:00 than 2:30). He wasn't hugely cranky, but VERY clingy. He's been eating like a horse, so I'm guessing he's about to have a growth spurt :scared1:

DMickey - I'm with you on another baby. It's looking more and more like no for us. I just got a bill from the insurance company. After the office told us everything would most likely be covered, all the meds were, but not the u/s and such. So apparently I owe $750. Hmm..... I think I'll be calling when I'm a bit calmer. I asked specifically about how much would be covered, and they told me if the meds were, everything else would be. I HATE insurance.
Iwould definitely fight it. my RE/fertility doc used to submit my ultrasounds and labs under regular female treatments- like endo or just regular checkups for other female issues- but NOT as fertility. that way my ins covered my u/s. they were $250 a pop and i was having 5 per cycle for theIUIs and i must have had like 10-12 for my IVF cycle. I was lucky to get my drugs (follistim injectables) for free from the nurse who i knew. she gave me the free 'samples' that hte drug rep left the doc. Otherwise, they would have cost me like $700 each cycle just for the shots.

Becky- congrats on the new car- it's awesome!!!

Bethany- lol at Owen eating- Will does the same thing - he wants what we are having.

Pollito- glad you are having fun picking paint!! :rotfl:

WEll guess who is ONE tomorrow? I can't believe this time last year I was being induced. It's been a long road and a family member made a great comment- how they haven't seen DH and I smile more than we have this year since Will came along. He's been a pure joy. :goodvibes :lovestruc WE are truly blessed. I am taking him for his one year doc appt at 11am, then back to day care for a nap while i get some work done- too bad i can't afford to just take off the day. but i have 3 tradeshows this weekend and a new product launching, so i am swamped at work. I am going to leave a little early and take cupcakes to his day care for the class! THey said they do it for the bdays- should be fun. All i could find was orange halloween icing though----what a mess that will be. I got white, not chocolate. this will be his first real cake/cupcake! We will have one on Saturday for his party too of course.

I just found your post, and though I'm a mom to 3 kiddos. I'm a new mom to my first baby Boy who is 5 months. My family is very girl dominate so for me to have a boy was a BIG SHOCKER! But he is the sweetest little man! I love my girls too.

I post alot on the Dsiboutiquers (family board), and on the budget board. I just started coming over to the community board.

To the one with the $$$ issues, I'm there too. It makes me sick, and I have a hard time sleeping. We were fine with our credit, then all of a sudden we had major medical debt. Really, other than our house, medical is our debt! The worst part is we are going to have to get DH a new car very soon, and I'm worried about a loan. I think I'm going to see if his grandfather would
co-sign, hopefully that will get the loan for us. I've been praying, and finally putting it all in HIS hands!

To I think it's ASH- Love your DD's name.

I have 3 kiddos
DD4- Ellarie, DD2-Araeyah, and my baby boy Attikus who is 5 months (A.J.)

Welcome GoofyG!! Your children are beautiful!!! :goodvibes

Ok....Christmas/holiday question for all of you... For those of you that celebrate Christmas and do the whole Santa thing...what are you planning on doing for your LO? I want Brady to be able to come downstairs and see lots of gifts and presents to open (as I did when I was a child), but good god...this kid has more toys than I know what to do with!! Just curious...since some of our kids are still young and may not know *exactly* what's going on....what is your plan? I feel like going to Toys R Us and spending hundreds of dollars on toys is kinda crazy (although would be fun...don't get me wrong!). Never mind all the gifts he will get from family and friends!! But, I don't want to jip him from a Santa experience, ya know? :confused3 Just curious what all you ladies are planning on doing!!

Welcome GoofyG!! You kids are beautiful! Is Ellarie pronounced similar to Ash's Ellery?

I think Alexander is starting to get mad when Daddy isn't home at night. He woke up crying last night at about 9pm. He wanted me to read his Daddy and Elmo baseball book to him and then he went back to sleep. He didn't eat dinner last night so he was up screaming at 5am. At least he went back to sleep until 8:30!! Now we have a late start to our day but that's ok, we don't have much to do anyway.

kelly- last year Vaylie was 10 months old at Christmas and we were in the same predicament. So- I bought one big gift (it is a blue dinosaur ball pit- it's soft, you can see it here.) Then we bought some small stocking stuffers and some books, and just a few more toys (like the fisher price zoo train- we had it all unwrapped and ready to go! Nothing like opening a present with a toddler and then having to wait 45 minutes while you're trying to get it out of the packaging :headache:) But we didn't go overboard because she had so much already, and then I knew she'd get SO much more from the rest of our families (it really was pretty ridiculous). So, I think we'll do the same thing this year- one big gift, a few smaller toys, plus books and stocking stuffers and we always get Christmas pj's and open them on Christmas Eve. Tradition!

GoofyG- your kids are so adorable! :welcome: And we have had credit issues too, and my inlaws co-signed for us. It taked a lot of time to clean up credit, but just a very short time to wreck it. We had a major medical setback (my pregnancy) and I was out of work for 11 months (which we could not afford). But, you do what you can with what you have and it's not a permanent situation.

Michelle- Aw, Happy Birthday to Will! It goes so fast. And they truly are a blessing and a miracle. :cloud9: Although, a time will come when you're going, "Where is my sweet baby and who dropped off this cranky little dictator?" :lmao:

DMickey- Vaylie will bang her head on the wall to get out of time out. Or sometimes when she's mad. I figure eventually she'll figure out that it hurts her more than it does me. :confused3 :rotfl:

Bethany- I had to laugh when we found out the technical name for the color of our car, since you said before yours was gray but probably called charcoal. Ours is "Stellar Greensilver Metallic." :lmao: Where do they come up with this stuff! And thanks- I thought I did pretty good on the price.

I'm jealous of you guys with non-picky kids. Vaylie won't even touch a lot of the foods we eat. :sad2:

Christopher is not even remotely picky about eating (heck, he likes Meow Mix if he can get it :) ). He's had chinese and mexican, and likes both of those. The only thing we've found he won't eat it white potatoes. No mashed potatoes, no french fries, no baked potatoes. I don't get it myself, but I'm not arguing. And yes, the diapers after some foods are horrific. The ones after he eats beets are nasty (and downright scary the first time....;) )

I still have no idea what's up with all of the kids hitting themselves in the head. Christopher does it too, and then laughs like crazy :confused3

I'm kind of bummed - I'm not going to be home early enough tomorrow night to take him trick or treating :guilty: I'm finished by 5, but usually have another hour of paperwork after that, and a 40 minute drive home. DH is taking him out, and my parents are coming down to hand out candy for us.

Hi Guys

Sorry I have been MIA!! I have a **huge** 1-2 week trial coming up the week of Nov 17th and it has been occupying all my time. Ugh! And - its going to run through Thanksgiving -- great - just great!!

I have been reading every day so I'm up to speed on everything - but just have not had alot of time to post.

Michelle -- love the family pix of you guys from a few days back! Beautiful. And Happy Birthday Will ! One year old already -- time flies. I hope he has a great party this weekend and good luck with your upcoming trade shows!

Jen in NH -- glad to hear that you had EI check on Christopher - I am sure it will help. Too cute about the cats and him. And I am sorry about the IUI - I know how much that sucks! I would definately protest the insurance stuff though - can't hurt. Sorry you are going to miss trick or treating - what is Christopher dressing up as?

Ash -- that is so great that Ellery took 2 steps - on her own or holding your hands? Either way it is phenomonal!! Izzy is walking holding our hands but not yet on her own - I hope she starts soon. And I LOVE her Halloween costume -- adorable -- so great!

Becky -- yeah on the car -- it is really nice and you got a fabulous deal -- I am so happy for you - there is nothing like a new/new to you car. Great deal - enjoy it. I know I shouldn't laugh at the Vaylie hitting story but it is kind of funny that she put herself in time out - hit you again and then back to time out...how do you not burst out laughing while she is doing this? Maybe make her sit on her hands or take her favorite toy away when she slaps?

Bethany -- Owen is a brave little boy eating so many different flavors - or should I say you and DH are brave for giving him so much to try - and smart too - that is the way to do it. We need to broaden Izzy's food horizons - I am not good about giving her new stuff to try.

Denise -- sorry to hear about your money wows -- don't worry too much about saving for Mo now -- that will come in time -- it is more important to have his (and your) other needs met right now rather than focus on the saving. Sorry about the OD though - that is frustrating -- I think Michelle's idea of linking checking to another account to prevent OD is a good idea.

Dznlvr2005 -- what an adorable picture! So cute.

Pollito - congrats on the new house! Big news - how awesome! I think the choosing paint/decoration part of it is the funest part!! Sounds like a great house.

Tiggersac -- hi - how are you feeling with the pregnancy?

DMickey -- welcome back - can't wait to hear about the cruise! I think you are right that Bella is the more popular name for Isabella. We actually call her Izzy. She responds to that as her name. My mom calls her Isabella and she seems to have no recognition of that word. I really like Izzy. Hopefully even if there are lots of Isabellas in her school there won't be many Izzys. That is SOOOO exciting that you are going off BCP's -- big exciting decision. Good luck!

Kelly -- Your trip to Boston with Brady sounded fun. Cute about the dogs - I would have loved to see that myself! As for xmas - I don't think we are going to go too overboard this year. Izzy will only be 14 months and she just got a ton of toys for her birthday and she does not know the difference anyway -- we will do a few presents from me and DH and instruct our relatives to go light/or nothing and save it for next year when she can appreciate/understand things more.

GoofyG -- Hi and welcome! This is a great thread with a wonderful bunch of ladies. Glad to have you with us.
******

Super excited about Halloween tomorrow. Izzy is going to be Yoda - we tried the costume on last night and OMG - it was so adorable.

So---I am kind of bummed -- DH got a promotion (but no immediate raise - hopefully a raise next year) but anyway -- he got the promotion on Monday and found out that they are sending him to Minnesota for training for 2 weeks and he leaves this Sunday -- pretty short notice. Minnesota is a 4 hour plane ride from where we are - so he is not coming home at all during those 2 weeks. He and I have never been apart for that long and I have never been alone with Izzy for that long -- I am kind of nervous - plus I am going to miss him so much and he is going to miss Izzy like crazy -- plus - my work is so busy right now with this trial -- so that all sucks!

But - he is taking me out for a super fancy dinner tonight to celebrate my birthday and his promotion so that will be fun!

REQUEST : I think it would be great and fun if everyone posted a pix of their little's one dressed up for Halloween! I would love to see everyone's costumes.

Have a great day ladies!

-Nicole

hi ladies!

I can't believe that I will have ONE YEAR OLDS in less than two weeks!!! Sam & Zoe are pretty much walking now, still a little wobbly but they are all over the place! We were outside playing in the front yard and it was soo cute..Zoe was enjoying the wind blowing and was pointing at the lemongrass plant and Sam was trying to eat leaves off the ground! I sent out like 36 invites for thier bday party :scared1: !!!!!! I know not everyone will come, but looks like we'll have a good bunch here for the cookout.

We are hopefully getting rid of the formula bottles soon..we may just keep their bedtime bottle for a little while longer. The twins are both doing well drinking milk out of a cup and they have be drinking water for like 5 months now. I want to make sure their weights are good before we get rid of formula. I really don't want to put formula in their cups, so I am hoping we can jut get rid of it. I guess as long as they need formula, they will get it in bottles. They are eating better though, which is great. We still do purees, but we also give finger foods. They are slow eaters but like aI said, it is getting better. They were eating eggs and liver pudding last night...gross, I know, but I love the stuff..my mom gave it to us as kids!

Anyway, I hope everyone is well.....take care!

Ash-love the Snow white costume;;Ellery is a doll!

Denise- Been there, done that....

Beck- congrats on the car!

Nicole- yoda!! I love it!:goodvibes

Michelle- happy almost birthday to Will!!!

Spencer is turning into an escape artist. He was piling toys up in his playpen and then standing on them. Well, now he puts his arms over the sides, pulls himself up, and uses his feet to scurry to the top!!! He doesn't even need the toys now.
He also has a small rocking chair that we can buckle him in. He stands on the floor and the chair looks like a turtle shell on him. He refuses to just sit and rock in it.

Spencer is going to be a pumpkin (same outfit he wore to MNSSHP). We looked for other costumes, but they were all so heavy (I was worried about him sweating). However, now it has been COLD here the past couple of nights (in the 30's)!!! The days have been nice though.

Michelle, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Will!!!!

Becky, congrats on the new car! That is an awesome deal.

GoofyG, welcome!

Nicole, congrats to your DH on the promotion. That stinks he has to be away for so long and on such short notice.

I hope that Spencer will be an adventurous eater. We are STILL working with getting him to eat baby food. He likes vegetables for the most part, but not really fruit. He does reach for everything we are eating though.

Nicole - Good Luck with the trial. I am sorry that your DH will be away so long. It is hard but it will make him coming home so much sweeter.

As far as Christmas goes, we travel up to MA for Christmas so I don't get much for him for Christmas right now. Mostly stuff that can stay there, a few toys and books. This year I wanted to get him a nice play kitchen and stuff so I don't know if we will do that here before or after we get back. At some point we will want to start staying home for the holidays but I don't want to be without family. :confused3 I think they are still so young that within the next year or two they will start making more memories.

Welcome GoofyG!! Your children are beautiful!!! :goodvibes

I'm posting under my mom's name!!!!!!
I hear you about the toys! I feel like my house is TRU!!:rotfl:
We have 5 Christmas, so my kids get WAY TO MANY TOYS!
I only buy them 3 gifts, and their snata gift is thier BIG gift out in the open! They also get a sibling gift. I informed everyone in the family, they were only allowed to buy 1 toy this yr. Attikus needs clothes being the only boy in the family, so that's what I asked for him along with my DD4.

I posted this elsewhere but forgot to do it here!

I wasn't due until Dec. 16th, but I called my doctor on 10/9 because my hands and feet were swelling, and I didn't know if it was normal or excessive ( I never had that in my other pregnancies) so he had me come in and get checked. My BP was through the roof, so he monitored me in the office for an hour and when it didn't go down he sent me to the hospital for 24 hours observation.

After getting some medication it did start going down so I ate dinner, and was preparing to take a nice hot bath and relax for the night. The nurse came in to do one last check and could not find my son's heartbeat on the doppler scanner. I thought perhaps she had pressed a little too hard on my stomach and I felt like I needed to use the restroom (felt pressure) so I got up and went into the bathroom, just in time for my placenta to abrupt. Within 2 minutes they had me in a bed, changed to a hospital gown and back on a variety of monitors, paging my doctor and calling my husband. At the time this happened I wasn't "admitted" to the hospital yet, was still in my street clothes, etc. I didn't even have an IV. My DH raced to the hospital which was only 2 miles away (he had just left about an hour prior to put kids to bed) and by the time he got there I was unconscious and being wheeled out of the OR, while a team of people were working to keep my son alive and stablize him.

He was transported to another nearby hospital with a more competent NICU, and I woke up 2 hours later not really knowing what had happened. Heck, it all happened so fast nobody ever bothered to remove my baseball cap that I had on!!

Anyway, my son is doing very well, after a really rough start. He was 3lbs 13 oz. 16 1/4 inches long. He spent a couple of days on a ventilator, another week on cpap, IVs and such, but at 3 weeks old today, he weighs in at a hefty 4lbs 1oz, and graduated from an isolette to a regular basinette today, as well as increased his bottle/breast feedings to 6 of 8 per day. Just a little bit more growth and progress and we can lose the last intrusive machine he is hooked up to--the feeding tube. Here's a fairly recent pic from a couple of days ago in his "halloween" hat:

Congratulations!!!!!!!! What a hard start, but a BEAUTIFUL BLESSING!!!!!!

JB, Jacob is sooo cute!!! Has he pulled his feeding tube out yet? When Sam & Zoe were in NICU (they were 6 weeks early) they were bad for it! Keep usa updated as to how you all are doing!

funny you wound ask... as soon as he got his hands free of IVs he yanked out the feeding tube (it was in his mouth at the time) and has since also yanked it out of his nose, along with his heart/lung leeds on his chest that monitor his heartrate and breathing.

Today he had a little sneezing fest and actually sneezed it out! The nurse just giggled and said "just push it back down" Seems slightly painful to me but I guess they deal with it much more than I do so I did and he didn't even flinch.

ugh!

how did Jacob do with the IV's? Sam & Zoe both had to have them in thier heads :scared1: they looked like a scene out of the matrix. Thei tried other places but kept blowing veins. The were in the hospital 2 weeks.. roughly 5 days in NICU as feeders/growers and the rest in pediatrics. They were both just under 5 lbs when we came home.

Okay, I have to start with an appology for any goofy typing - our foster kitten has gotten big enough for us to let her roam the house, and her favorite place is on me and batting at my fingers while I type. Cute, but annoying!

Welcome, and congratulations! That's so great that Jacob is doing better, despite a rough start!

Hooray for Will! Sounds like you have some fun plans for celebrating, even if you can't take off from work. Love the orange frosting - you'll have to tell us what that looked like (or post pictures!). I can only imagine... :rotfl:

I just found your post, and though I'm a mom to 3 kiddos. I'm a new mom to my first baby Boy who is 5 months. My family is very girl dominate so for me to have a boy was a BIG SHOCKER! But he is the sweetest little man! I love my girls too.

But, I don't want to jip him from a Santa experience, ya know? :confused3 Just curious what all you ladies are planning on doing!!

DH is known far and wide as "the Grinch", so he keeps muttering "I must stop Christmas from coming...but how?!" If I left it to him to decide, we would never decorate, and we wouldn't give presents at all. :sad2: We'll see how/if that attitude changes as Owen gets older...

But we do at least agree that we want Owen to enjoy Christmas, but not go overboard and we want him to understand the meaning behind the traditions and celebration. Since he's only 12m (and 7 days! :) ) this Christmas, we'll probably just give him one big gift from us and a few stocking stuffers, and let the rest of his gifts come from family and friends. He's grandchild #14 of 15 on my side, and #6 of 6 and #9 of 9 on DH's side (DFIL is remarried and has 3 step grandchildren, but DMIL is not remarried - so complicated!), so I'm not worried about Owen getting spoiled by grandparents or anyone else, for that matter. Everyone already has a million kids to buy gifts for. I'm just hoping that people don't do the "oh, his birthday is a week before Christmas so he only needs one present" thing. Not such a big deal now while he's little, but when he gets older he's not going to appreciate that.

Oh my gosh, the beets! :rotfl2: I'd forgotten about the beets!! Those diapers are frightening the first time you see one...

And I'm cracking up at the Meow Mix! :lmao: Owen has done that, too. He rarely is allowed to be on the floor in the kitchen, but the minute he's set down he makes a beeline for the cat food and tries to get a handful stuffed in his mouth before I catch him. Where did he learn this??! :confused3 I mean, the very first time we put him on the floor in the kitchen, he went straight for the catfood. Ignored the bright magnets I'd put on the bottom of the fridge to entertain him - just went for the kitty food. Who's telling him that he should be eating cat food? Are the cats somehow communicating with him?!

Hi Guys
Super excited about Halloween tomorrow. Izzy is going to be Yoda - we tried the costume on last night and OMG - it was so adorable.

But - he is taking me out for a super fancy dinner tonight to celebrate my birthday and his promotion so that will be fun!

REQUEST : I think it would be great and fun if everyone posted a pix of their little's one dressed up for Halloween! I would love to see everyone's costumes.

Fancy dinner sounds fun!! And I love the Yoda costume! That's awesome! You have to post pictures when you get a chance.

I'll definitely post some of Owen after Halloween. His costume is way obscure, but we're amused, and we figure that's what counts. We're dressing up as Kim Possible, Ron Stoppable, and Rufus (the naked mole rat) for our friends' "Superheroes and SuperVillans" Halloween party. They usually get 700+ kids coming past trick-or-treating because they do an amazing set up at their house. We always dress to fit their theme so we can be outside and help with the crowd control. I made Owen's Rufus costume out of a pink fleece snowsuit, and it's super funny and cute if I do say so myself! :) DH is cracking me up because he has to wear a wig to be Ron - he's mostly bald, so we had to find a blonde wig for him, and it looks so strange to see him with hair! :rotfl:

I can't believe that I will have ONE YEAR OLDS in less than two weeks!!! Sam & Zoe are pretty much walking now, still a little wobbly but they are all over the place! We were outside playing in the front yard and it was soo cute..Zoe was enjoying the wind blowing and was pointing at the lemongrass plant and Sam was trying to eat leaves off the ground! I sent out like 36 invites for thier bday party :scared1: !!!!!! I know not everyone will come, but looks like we'll have a good bunch here for the cookout.

They must keep you busy, chasing their wobbly walking selves around! Love the image of Sam eating leaves...too funny! Sounds like you'll have a great 1st birthday party for the twins. We've got a lot of kiddos turning one in the next month or so here!

Yikes! What an escape artist! The rocking chair/turtle shell thing cracks me up!

how did Jacob do with the IV's? Sam & Zoe both had to have them in thier heads :scared1: they looked like a scene out of the matrix. Thei tried other places but kept blowing veins. The were in the hospital 2 weeks.. roughly 5 days in NICU as feeders/growers and the rest in pediatrics. They were both just under 5 lbs when we came home.

He did fine with the IV, though he didn't have them for too long. He was already off the ventilator by the time I was discharged from the hospital and made my way to his hospital, so all he had was one IV in his belly button and one in his hand, and the one from his hand came out after a couple more days, the other one was moved to his arm at 1 week, and came out 3 days later. He didn't seem to mess with them that I could tell.

This was his "look" when he was 24 hours old. He's come a very long way in 3 short weeks.
