The new guy's trip report++ Double Feature ++ Part 10/11 - Page 19

The highlight of your road trip was the dead armadillo? it must be a man thing, My DH gets all excited over road kill too. "Dead fox, pull over and let me check it out." If it's during season and furred out pretty good he throws it in the back of the truck. At least you didn't have to stop the car and examine it, I give you major props for that.

I *think* armadillos are a southern thing. Remember the groom's cake in Steel Magnolia's? It was an armadillo and the inside was red velvet! :rotfl2: We live in the desert and see lots of weird critters but no armadillos.

Glad your wife didn't drink on the plane! And hurray for arriving in one piece!

I'm loving your writing style. Can't wait for more. I have family in MT and we have to drive thur ID. We at one point thought about buying in Cure Da Lane(sp). Then i got bite by the Disney bug so FL well be are forever state in a couple yrs. Dh just has to retire first.

Melissa's right, armadillos are a southern thang! I live in the Austin area and we see plenty of them. Usually dead on the road somewhere's. ;)
The local mall use to have this elevator that had this beautiful display type things around it and had flat spots to put decor on them....guess what they had all around on them?
You got it! Dead armadillos, the elevator was glass and when you looked to the back of it all you saw going down or up was the butts of dead stuffed armadillos. :sad2: Leave it to southerners to take dead animals and feel it was as good idea to display them as decor in a Mall. :rotfl:
They tore this elevator down and moved it somewhere else in the mall, but they didn't put the dead animals back around it.

Great update and lucky you staying at the Polynesian. I hope someday we can stay there.

Armadillos are crazy looking creatures, aren't they? They look kind of prehistoric.

When my husband and I were vacationing in Mexico we drove past a bunch of kids holding an armadillo and waving at us to stop. Not knowing Spanish or frankly where the heck we were, we declined and sped by. It's a good thing too. We were later told that they'll ask for money in exchange for taking your picture with the armadillo. If you refuse, they throw the armadillo in your car! Doesn't seem like a sound business idea to me.

It's so funny to read the amazement at seeing armadillos. Seeing dead armadillos is an almost daily sight here in Louisiana too. Much better dead though, they make an absolute mess in gardens digging for bugs.

By the way Colt, looking forward to hearing more of your tale. :rotfl:

PS-CarrieAnnie- stop trying to take credit for my beautiful pic, Can't you see by my blue eyes I got all dolled up to go to the Walmart

I love PeopleofWalmart.com also. If you look at the pictures from Georgia, there is a lady with straight grey hair that has a curly brown wig just on the top of her head. I see this lady every time I go. I couldn't believe that I recognized someone on it.

Oh yeah, we had some pet turtles we took home from Arkansas when I was a kid. We were driving through the Ozarks and my sister and I were freaking out at all the dead turtles in the road. We were screaming at my dad not to hit any of them! Finally we saw some moving and made him stop to rescue them. :rotfl2:

We saw an Armadillo in the Magic Kingdom last month. He was making his way into his hole. It was on the path between Toontown and Tomorrowland. Kind of sad cause last trip we saw bunnies there. Hope he didn't make them move out.

Armadillos are very common her too. We lived in South Carolina for a few years. I knew I was back home when I saw a dead one in our neighborhood. Someone was outside pouring lighter fluid on it getting ready to dispose of the body.:scared1:

ahhh the poly......what a great place to stay..tipping the bell services guy is usually a dollar a bag and if he/she was great, maybe a few extra dollars

We have them here too. Usually see them along the highway in various states of decay.

It's been ages since I've been to an Austin mall. Once we got a Cheddars and a Kohls, we pretty stopped going to Austin all together.
