Each building has 2 elevators, as well as a large lobby area (a smaller version of the Grand Lobby). I will try to find some pictures for you, and post them tomorrow.

The GF Cafe is closed for dinner, but open for lunch and breakfast. I believe it should be opening back up for dinner sometime soon. It is a wonderful place to eat! It is on my "must do" list.

OK, GREAT! :D I thought they had closed for remodeling or something and I was freaking out! ;) I love to eat lunch there... they always have a great special... or I get my standard chicken salad. ;) I just can't stand those greasy park foods. :p

TigrLvsPooh, I do know that to enter Sugar Loaf Key you have to use a resort key that allows access to that building since it is a concierge building and is for concierge guests only. The doors are always closed and you need to use the card reader in order to open them.

Thanks Janet.... I'm not surprised SLC would be locked. I kinda hope the other buildings are locked at night... it would seem a little safer, but I guess it really doesn't matter. I'm sure criminals don't roam the halls of the GF at night. :p

Yes, all of the buildings do lock at 11PM, and you need your Resort ID Card to open the doors. I believe they reopen at around 6AM.

Sorry,
I meant to post a reply on this thread not start a new one. There is a post on this board from 2girls regarding GF room choices. Can that post be attatched here instead? My apologies, I'm new. Thanks for all the great info.

...for DW's b-day in January. Anybody have an idea where they'll put us? I would prefer being in the lodge, as that seems to be the nicer of the two (even after reading all this I forgot the name of the other concierge location:p ) but I'm relatively new to DVC bookings. I'd post this on the DVC board but thought I'd have more luck here. I did put in a non-smoking lagoon view room request, should I add "Lodge location preferred" to it?
Thanks in advance for any info!!
Bob.

After looking at the Disney Collection Point charts for the GF and PR, I assume the GF's concierge on points is in Sugar Loaf Key. Since the Royal Palm Club isn't ever discounted and has such few rooms (most are specialty or suites) I really think it's in Sugar Loaf. It would be cheaper if you'd sell the points for $10/ea, and just pay cash for the GF Concierge. :)

forgive me if this has already been posted here on the GF faq, but I just want to let everyone know that they removed the soft serve ice cream machine from Gasparilla Grill!!!:(

Laura :)

Hi Cali-D.... just wondering, if you were me, what view would you request for the lodge tower?? The quiet pool will be under renovation while we're there, so take that into consideration. ;)

Also... is there such a thing as lodge tower concierge??

Thanks!! :D

From what I understand, there is lodge tower concierge in Sugar Loaf. BUT, you can't reserve a Sugar Loaf tower room. You have to reserve Sugar Loaf concierge (for the higher price) and request a tower room - no reservation guarantee.

I'd suggest Sago Cay or Conch Key for a Lodge Tower. Sago Cay's 4th and 5th floor are smoking optional, though.

In Sago Cay, you'd have a marina view, in Conch Key you'd have a garden/partial lagoon view.

(PS, love the pic in your signature!)

That is a pic of dh and I over at the Wedding Pavilion. We wanted to get married there but ended up eloping in Vegas! ;)

Any photo requests? I am at the GF. What a place!

WOW!! Are you having a great time??? I can't wait to get there!!!

The only picture I have been dying to see is a pic of a Lodge Tower room. You wouldn't happen to be in one???? ;)

I'm sure we'd love to see any pics you get.....

Is the quiet pool under construction now????

DH would like to see a pic of Boca Chica... inside and out. :)

Thanks!!!! :D :D :D :D

Could you maybe get into a concierge deluxe for a picture? Any of the rooms would be great! Oh, and can you find out if there are lodge tower rooms on the fifth floor of the lodge buildings, and if they have balconies?

Thanks so much!!!

Ok gang,
I've taken pictures of everything I figure I could access. If I ask to be let into a conc deluxe room, will they do it?

As for my locale, I'm in Big Pine Key.....lagoon view....room 9344...Alice theme. Wow! I have MK view and I can see the Contemporary and the Poly. It's also pretty quiet. The quiet pool is indeed under rehab. There's a wall around it and they're constantly painting it to keep in pristeen white condition. Today, they fixed lanterns and flowers to it. What a touch! The new pool is pretty fun. I tried the slide today. It's great, too. I'll see about asking the questions, but I'd really like some pointers on how to get into those other rooms for pics. Who do I talk to and how do I schmooze, etc. We're off to dinner. Catch y'all later!

Thanks! I had asked to see a concierge deluxe in March, but they were all booked, but they did offer to show me a regular concierge room. :) You need to ask at the front desk. :)

Thanks so much!
