This new idea about chefs too coming from the GF restraurants to make a dish from Tuesday thru Friday (?), is that just for the Royal Palm?
This is no longer offered. :)

However, another good thing about the GF is that they gave us a microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker for no charge so we could still have some quick conveniences with the kids.
They now charge $10/day for a refrigerator or microwave.

Once you have concierage (we did at the Poly), it is hard not to have it again.
Yes, it is. ;)

CaliD. great stuff

I Just grabbed 3 nights right before Christmas at the GF for the FAM.

Thanks

Cali-D....

Just got off the phone with Central reservations.... we can upgrade to lagoon view for an extra $45 a night, is it worth it??

Also, how do I get a lodge tower room with the pool view or marina view?? Do they cost more than GV?? Or can I just request it??

Are the corner rooms a lot bigger than the standard rooms?? Do they charge more $$??

CRO said that the lodge tower rooms are 574 sq ft. and that the regular rooms are 448 sq ft.

Thanks! :earsgirl:

All lodge towers are the same price, regardless of view.

The corner rooms are larger, but most of the extra space is in the hallway, not actually in the room; so they don't charge more for them.

Yes, I'd upgrade to Lagoon View or a Lodge Tower. :)

I just upgraded to Sugar Loaf. What is the size of the room? Do the rooms with 2 queen beds all have a daybed or is it by request?

Rooms have either 1 King, 2 Queens, or 2 Queens and a Daybed. If you have 1-4 people, you'll need to request a daybed if you want one. :)

Hi & thanks for the pic's.We are interested in sugar loaf reports too.Would love to book Royal palm club & actually thinking that would be nice next May.Our daughter will be celebrating a birthday(5) so i'm especially interested in concierge views..good views(perhaps of MK)I'm so excited,I can hardly stand it!GF here we come!

The only concierges rooms that have a MK view are the ones in Royal Palm Club. They are room #'s 4301-4309 and 4401-4409. :) Sugar Loaf's Concierge rooms have either a pool or marina view. :)

What is the sq ft of a room in Sugar Loaf? Are the rooms with a daybed larger?

Rooms with 1 King or 2 Queens are 418 square feet (dormer rooms), and Rooms with 2 Queens and a Daybed are 448 square feet (regular rooms).

We have an intimate wedding set up for the end of August and as part of the package we have reservations for 4 nights at the GF. We made an additional night reservation the night before without the package, they said it was attached but as per disney they id they couldn't guarantee us the same room. Our wedding coordinator said only once did he have a bride and groom have to move, he admitted they were uncontrollably angry. Anyway, my question is, can I request a particular section (all we have is Lagoon View) with a king bed, how do I request it, who do I call, and what actions can I take to help assure a great view. I am currently printing out the 30 plus pages of this posting so I will read all the faqs.
Thanks!

Hi Cali! Here is a question for you (as well as other GF experts). If you are staying in concierge, to whom do you address you room requests? Usually room requests are faxed to the room controller, but sometimes it is different for concierge. Is that true a the GF? Who assigns the concierge rooms? Thanks!

Good question!

Well, when we stayed at the Polynesian Concierge I faxed my requests to them, and got all of them.

I'm not sure how the GF system works, though. These are things I need to ask in January!

Thanks for the response! Please add my question to your list, I am really curious how they assign rooms in the main building. The Poly concierge CMs told me that they do it for their building, not the general room controller. Where are you staying in January?

Hey MJS! I will be staying at the Grand Floridian in a Lagoon View room in January. We have decided to just do a regular room this time. (we may switch to Sugar Loaf, it would only be an extra $55/night but we would have to give up the Lagoon View!) I'm anxious to get a full tour of Royal Palm Club (I've only visited the concierge desk and had a quick peak at the lounge so far - I'd really like to see a Deluxe Room, too).

We'll see what they can do for me! ;)

Do you know or can you find out what the views are from the deluxe rooms? I have heard that there are some with a MK view. Also, do you know what type of room (plan A or B) has which view? Also, I learned on these boards that the GF got rid of their playground for kids. Is that true? Thanks!

Plan A rooms have a courtyard/pool view; and include room numbers 4319, 4320, 4419, and 4420. Plan B rooms have a view of the lagoon/wedding pavilion/Polynesian/new Theme Pool; and include room numbers 4322, 4329, 4422, and 4429. Most people actually prefer the Plan B rooms to the Plan A rooms (they want the larger balcony, and the lagoon view).

? I have heard that there are some with a MK view. Also, do you know what type of room (plan A or B) has which view?
Plan A rooms would have this view. Though it is not a direct view, I've been told it is still visable. Though, the room that would have the best (because of the trees) view (4319) is handicap.

Also, I learned on these boards that the GF got rid of their playground for kids. Is that true?
Humm, to tell you the truth, I don't ever remember seeing a playground at the GF. Let me check an old resort map... Okay, a map from 1998 does not show a playground. (and, it looks just like the one I was given in March). I can tell you that they do have a "kiddie" pool, and all of the special activities for kids by the pool (as well as in the main building - sign up at guest services). But, I can't tell you anything about a playground. Sorry...
