Hmm....I'm not so sure about that. The service is better at the GF than anywhere else in WDW. You'd get plenty of whatever kind of attention you're seeking.

Hi Grand Floridian faithful:
I'm going to the GF May 12-19. I'm so excited I can hardly stand it. I have travelled many times to the world but this will be my first time staying at the Grand Floridian! I am so glad I found this board!

Welcome to the DIS! Happy planning for your GF vacation. I bet it won't be your last.

I hope so too... I like the idea of the thatched roofs, but I dont think I'd want to be the only person at the entire resort in a cabana -- a bit too showy in my opinion. Hopefully there will be a few out... it sounds heavenly .

I agree....it would feel very strange. I wonder where it/they will be located?

Hill6 May is such a great time to go to disney...and of course any time is a great time to be at the GF.... Enjoy!

BCV I didnt hear anything about cabanas at BLT ...a CM at the CR pool told me about the refurbs there after I asked about the cabana that was at the Bay Lake pool...I think its a great idea...but then I am a cabana fan

Hi Stich's girlfriend. We've been many times as well, but it will be my and my kids' first time staying at the GF. There will be 10 of us all together...so excited...less than a month now!

CR was my first resort as well. We are staying there in april for a week concierge so I will see how it compares to the GF.

we stayed at the GF for our honeymoon, but couldnt afford it the next year so we stayed at AKL. we ate at the GF and when we got there, I just starting bawling like a baby b/c I was so sad I wasn't staying there and the AKL was so dark and un GF like and I was not happy

Hey, Denise!!! And I see you are going on a cruise this summer!!! I have never......can't wait to hear what you think compared to a WDW Vacation. And don't worry about the pins. Whenever! I have July GF trip booked for now it's June...lOL..but I am most likely moving it to July...I prefer that July 4th time.

You need to stop by more often. It's been a while! Where've ya been?

Heatherlynn.....that three months will go FAST!!! Soon you'll be packing. Yeah..nothing compares to the GF!!!

I know I wouldn't like AKL...AKL, WL, and Poly...too dark....I love the sunny GF.

That isn't true- I have only ever stayed GV at the GF and have always had top notch service!!

Heatherlynn- we were there midmay last year and it was wonderful!! The weather was nice and warm, but not humid yet and the crowds were really manageable (but we left before Memorial Day). Have fun!!!

Stich's Girlfriend - I know you'll love your GF stay!

heatherlynn444 - I can relate to your experience, I understand that let-down feeling, although it was the opposite of yours. We decided to try the BC after staying at AKL - we sooo missed AKL, and didn't even think that we could ask to move! It's funny how you can get so attached to a particular place, isn't it? The GF, AKL and Poly are our three favorite resorts, they are completely different, but that is what makes it great for our family to do a split-stay - you get the best of both worlds, exotic and Victorian elegance!

Funny! That was my daughter's reaction as well - the first time. She had never stayed anywhere at WDW but the GF for about 4 years and then I wanted to try AKL. She got over that initial reaction and now has broadened her horizons and loves GF and Poly equally, with AKL not too far behind

CR is currently our favourite resort so I'm looking forward to doing the comparison as well and I'll be interested to hear what you think .

I have not been around the last few days I have been sick with the GI thing. I just called today to put in my request. We decided on Boca Chica upper floor. I tried to change the time on our afternoon tea and it was booked solid for the entire day. I have never been the end of April/Early May. Are the crowds gonna be nutso??

Channing just wanted to say your sight is fantastic!!! Lots of great info and pics.

That is funny I loved AKL but equally like YC and BWI. I wonder what my impression of GF will be. I too grew up visiting CR as a child.

well we get there the day after memorial day so hopefully it won't be too crowded for summer yet!

I mean, there was nothing WRONG with AKL, an dI am glad we stayed there just for the experience, but if we ever decided to stay somewhere other than GF again we weould try other resorts before we went back there. I am so lazy I just love the monorail

We are a family of six, so we have to get two rooms and have only stayed GV. Though I would LOVE to try RPC, I'm afraid that two rooms at that price are way way way too expensive
Still, we feel totally pampered at regular GV standard level! You still get turndown service and I agree, the CM's are the most wonderful at the GF! I love the victorian maid uniforms they wear...kind of reminds me of the servants in Mary Poppins! Adorable!
Ahh, there is nothing like the Grand in my opinion!

Question for all you GF divas....what are some of your favorite things from Basin? I bought my daughters the sliced soaps and some of the lotions this past christmas. I'm thinking of sending my 18 year old daughter, who is away at college, an Easter basket filled with stuff like that and her favorite H2O shampoos and conditioners. She won't be able to come home for Easter, so I thought this would be a very happy surprise. I remember she loved the pink sugar soap. What else is great?
