the new mug

Kelly I love the new mug! I think I have to have one! We do not have a trip planned presently :sad1: so I'm wondering how to get one....would WDW Mail Order work on this? Or can you call the GF directly?

I would call the sandy cove and if they cant help you get the SKU off the mug from them and then have them connect you to merchandising.

But I thought she said it was CLOSE, but not exactly right  It really
is a shame that after all the conversations she said they had that it still wasn't right. I just don't understand how this lady still has a job over there with the amount of complaints I have seen here on this thread and the cake thread about her. :sad2:

Hopefully when BCV returns she can clarify what was wrong with the actual cake vs. her request.

hey if she is happy with it then rock on! I just another complaint about the cakes over on that cake thread. I would think that with all the "what are you celebrating" stuff and people prdering cakes they would make less mitakes. Also the cakes arent cheap...

Hi! :wave2: I'm not sure who you are, either, I've been on the DIS since 2002 and I see you registered this month. So, nice to meet you, and welcome to the DIS! :welcome:

I was just coming back on to say that I've been researching this topic, since I hate to pass on inaccurate info. I was told by a CL CM a few years ago that an issue I had was hard to address, because "it is an outside company". In many Orlando Sentinel articles in 2005 and 2006, they referenced a number of outsourced positions. Those included IT jobs and many custodial, bell, valet, and baggage service jobs.

Since I can't find any articles that state that resort housekeeping jobs were also outsourced, I stand corrected. But, as anyone can see, there were many, many positions outsourced in the time that I was told the housekeeping positions were "an outside company", so either I misunderstood, or the CM that I spoke with was in error.

I humbly apologize for the misinformation!

Hi apologies accepted. I have just registered on the Disboard recently because we are going back to the Grand Flo soon and due to my current circumstances I now have time to be on the computer and join in the fun, but I am a long time visitor and a huge Grand Floridian fan. So, I am no less knowledgable than a long time Disboard member. As a matter of fact, I am pretty knowledgable about the Grand Floridian, other resorts, and the parks as well. Thank you for the WELCOME.

Hello, Debora. You can certainly call the merchandise number 407-363-6200 or try the Grand. The mugs are very pretty.

Alicnwondrln - thanks for the mug photo!

HappyCamper - again, welcome, the more the merrier!

Cinderumbrella - I can't speak for BCV23, but here is my take on the cake situation. We've ordered a specialty cake, and got exactly what we ordered, thankfully. If I had not, but it was still close to what I asked for, I doubt that I would make any complaint about it. I don't usually complain much, even if things go wrong. I simply don't use that service again (or go back to that establishment). Maybe there are a lot of others like me out there - and management isn't getting the word that orders are being filled incorrectly?

I really hope that is the case. Because if this is the service that the regular guests are getting than I hate to think of what first time guests are getting (and what a HORRIBLE first impression she is making for the hotel...)

Thanks! I will try that. It's a must have for me.

Thanks, Happy Camper! I agree! Enjoy your upcoming trip.

Good Afternoon all!

Kelly That is the same lovely mug that I have...so nice! have the key too...I was thinking about framing it in a victorian type frame...cant have enugh GF stuff around!!:goodvibes

Deborah B You do need to get one of those....it is porcelain and the GF is written in such pretty script...:) It makes every cup of coffee ( or tea) seem Grand!!

Happy Camper Welcome from me too!:)

Gonzo Congrats on your ticker...makes the countdown even better....

Mickeyfan Thanks for that great info...I love that framed lace even have taken some pics of it I liked it so much...

That might make a pretty background for a family photo...:confused3

Hello, it's me again! I pop back every now and then when I have a question.....:goodvibes

I just read a quick review of the GF in another thread. It was a good review with many positive comments. However, one comment in particular caught my attention..."If you are travelling with young girls who are into the princesses, the themeing and character meals at the GF are great.":cutie:

My question is.....What if you don't have young girls who are into princesses? What if you have 3 young boys, ages 11, 7 & 7? Will GF be too girly, girly for them? Do any of you GF fans have boys that enjoy the GF as much as you do?

LJD2143 - I confess, I did not visit the GF much when my boys were tagging along on our WDW trips. My younger son stayed there with us when he was about 13, and didn't seem to have an opinion one way or the other about the resort (not surprising, for his age!).

But, my DD's boyfriend really loved the GF, I was surprised! I'm not sure why, but I assumed he'd prefer the more outdoorsy resorts, like AKL and WL. While he did love AKL, and mentioned he'd like to stay at the WL - he really enjoyed the GF!

He was quite a bit older than your boys, though, so maybe someone with young fellas at home can jump in. :sunny:

Gonzo756 - congrats on your ticker! :goodvibes:

I would love to hear how the boys like GF because I am going in May with my DH and my 2 boys who are 13 and 11 years old. They have seen pictures and I showed them a video on u-tube of the slide at the GF pool and they think it looks great and can't wait to go. I am sure the kids will love it because they will be on vacation and they will be going to the parks all the time. I don't think they will complain but I want to see from people who have brought their boys to the GF how they liked it. The only thing I want to do that I think they will NOT like is the Afternoon tea. I would love it but I think it would be too girly for my family of boys.

I have 2 sons ages 9 and 5. They love the GF. My older one loves the pool and cabanas. They love the monorail acccess and boat to the MK as well.
We are staying ath BWV in July for a week before we move to the GF and the boys were like why arent we staying at the whole time. My sons have bonded with the CMs there and they love Vonnie and Joe. For us the GF is like going home.

Same here - I've been showing them all the cool pictures here on the DIS and we saw that YouTube video too!:cool1:

Thanks Alicn...We typically stay at the Poly, so they're definitely used to having the monorail and the boat. In fact, I think thats one of the main reasons I was able to convince them to try GF. DH wanted to book the Beach Club, but me and the boys are all about the MONORAIL and proximity to MK!!! Not even pixs of Stormalong Bay could get them interested in BC.:snooty:

The GF slide looks similar to the Poly's - which they absolutely LOVE!
And we're definitely gonna get a cabana one day too - I think they'll really enjoy it!:cloud9:
We haven't told them yet, but we're also going to try the SeaRaycers this time!:woohoo:

Thanks again all!:flower3:

To All of my fellow mothers of boys!!:) I have 2 sons in their late teens...and they truly are GF fans...have been since their very first stay at about age 2....It is a beautiful resort but not a girlie one IMO...(although they always did prefer the game room at the CR...)

They enjoy both pools especially the waterfall pool with that great slide...they will still go on the slide over and over...:rotfl:

There is alot more to do for the younger boys now then there was way back when...the pirate cruise...wii at the pool and movies and smores on the beach...

I have only enjoyed the tea with DD the boys have never expressed interest...:confused3

Lots to do for kids of all ages...:)

Kelly My kids say the same thing whenever we are booking a disney trip...given a choice the GF is always everyones first choice...mine too...

My ds (15) prefers other resorts over the GF and the Poly. He doesn't mind dining at Citricos or Narcoosees but his favorite resort is POR... because of the food court and the boat to DTD. He also likes the fishing hole and the fact that hte lobby is not full of visitors waiting for dining. We have been going to WDW since he was a baby and he really does not care for the princesses.
This year we are doing a split stay Gf and POR.
I managed to convince ds and dh by bribing them with a Segway tour at WL
( ds will be turning 16 so he is finally old enough) and doing photo shoot at GF.
