We had great Mousekeeping service this time in SL. Deborah was our Mouskeeper and she was really good. The turndown service happened every night with plenty of chocolate. We had a couple of towel animals left out to be company for the DD7's bear. We even met the Mosuekeeping supr. one day checking up on her people's work. Can't be too clean. Everyone was always smiling and happy to see you. I would give the Mousekeeping staff a 10 out of 10 for this trip.

By the way, the Grand Floridian has the best Pillows I have ever slept on at a hotel.

This may seem like a strange question but is there a first aid station at the GF?

I have 3 EXTREMELY accident prone children when they are on vacation :lmao:
Every major vacation we have EVER went on we have ended up in an ER. My kids joke that they like touring the ER's around the country hahaha

I have been to the hospital in Orlando as my daughter fell out of the bunk bed at the AKL and conked her head on a night stand HARD and had a consussion ... as I said EXTREMELY accident prone :rotfl:

Anyway, we are flying this time and won't have a car. I figured if its bad we can get a cab (or call 911) but was wondering if they had a first aid station for minor stuff and where on the property is it EXACTLY :rotfl:

On our travels We have had a broken arm, a broken leg, a broken toe, 3 sets of stiches, 1 concussion along with many bumps, bruises and minor injuries.... I am NOT asking this out of curiosity :rotfl:

PS... the hospital in Orlando was great with my DD!!! They even had Mickey dolls for their little patients :rotfl: apparently lots of kids go there when they get hurt while visiting the mouse!

Thanks for the prayers. Rees did get to eat popsicles this morning, and I just ordered jello.

The pfeffernusse a traditional German cookie. They are little round brown cookies that taste similar to Gingerbread (but spicier as the recipe has pepper in it) and have either an all-over white glaze or chocolate glaze on the bottom. They are very different tasting, and my DH didn't like them. They had them in SL Concierge when we were there in Dec 05. I also saw them at the GF Gingerbread house for sale in little bags.

ETA: here's a picture.

So glad your Rees is eating a bit and I'm praying that you all will be home by Thanksgiving!

I remember seeing the pfeffernusse but I don't know if I tried any - I was probably too busy eating the mini "shingle" cookies!?! I'll check next month to see if there are any in the lounge for a "free" one! DH is German so I'll have to ask him if his mom has made these before - he might like a bag. They sound yummy! Thanks for the description and photo!:)

I was reading "another post" about how mousekeeping has gone down hill in recent years. I was wondering if any one here has had trouble with the room not being cleaned? I guess I am a bit of a neat freak but I hate complaining when something isn't done right. Should I bring my own cleaners and mops with me?:rotfl: :rotfl:

Seriously, any bad experiences with mousekeeping?

We've had only great housekeeping in all of our GF stays!

The corner rooms are hammerhead rooms and those are either lagoon or MK view rooms. You book that category and can request the corner room. Request only and no guarantee. Those have the extra floor space and two balconies.

One more thing......MK view rooms are a bookable category. If you book Lagoon View, you may be looking at the Poly. Just an FYI ....if you are counting on watching the fireworks from your room, something to think about. Some lagoon views may have the firework view, but not sure how many.

Happy planning,

Lives4Disney :)

Clarification... There are only twelve (12) corner rooms in the entire resort. There are a few others, but those are part of suites. All of the corner rooms are Magic Kingdom views. You MUST have booked MK view, not Lagoon view. The corner rooms themselves CANNOT be reserved. If you request one and there is one available on the day you check in, you may get one. But if one is available, there may be four or five families that have requested one. A corner room will never be held empty for someone checking in a few days later. So it is a request only and never guaranteed.

There are NO lagoon view rooms with views of the fireworks. By definition, Lagoon View rooms look at the Polynesian, the Wedding Chapel, or perhaps the Contemporary. No LV room looks at the castle or fireworks.

Ladylt, how do you know your GF rooms so well? I didn't know that all those corner rooms existed.:)

We had to cancel our Sept trip because of DS' health. We're now going in Feb, but may have to reschedule depending on how he is doing. I sure understand, grannyminnie and magical4us4. Hang in there.

I was wondering if it'd be possible to hook up a portable DVD player to the tv? I know they already have the DVD players in the concierge rooms, but we are booked in a GV room. What kind of plugs would I need to bring?
My DD princess: is such a movie fanatic and I know she's going to want to bring her Disney Christmas dvds with us.

Thanks,
Alison

Grannyminnie and Triplefigs, I'm so upset we had to cancel...we just couldn't pull it off, unfortunately. Maybe later on...don't know...things are getting tough out there.

Triplefigs...I wish Rees a speedy recovery...and I'm sure he will with all the love and support from you and your family.:)

Grannyminnie...So sorry you had to cancel your trip also. I'm feeling your pain.:upsidedow

I know what Channing got but I aint tellin! You will have to wait for her to post!

HAHAHA

I'm a regular reader of this thread, though I don't post too often (we're planning our first WDW trip, so I don't have much knowledge to share!). My guess is that the GF would be most likely to upgrade someone who is a regular CL guest (and who they might even recognize given her families distinctive characteristics). So, I am predicting she was upgraded to an outer lodge CL room. (But given Alicnwondrln's obvious excitement, maybe even RPC?) I'm looking forward to hearing from her though...although the last thing I would do on vacation is go online, so it may be a while longer!

If she got the Walt Suite again, I'm changing my name to Channing.

What do you mean, again??? I am beyond jealous!!!!!!
CHANNING, where are you? Just because you're at Disney, no need to ignore your friends!!:rotfl:
For her 40th birthday last year, they were upgraded from RPC to the Walt Suite. Talk about a present! :cool1:

We had to cancel our Sept trip because of DS' health. We're now going in Feb, but may have to reschedule depending on how he is doing. I sure understand, grannyminnie and magical4us4. Hang in there.
I understand what you're going thru too, triplefigs...I had to cancel last Dec. because of DH's health. Ended up going in Feb. This Jan. trip I've cancelled was with my daughter and 2 grandchildren. I'm still going to the GF with my sister in 8 days!!! Yay!!
And hopefully, your trip with the family will be a "go" because of good health for your precious son.
