We were just at 1900 on Tuesday the 13th for breakfast. The characters were Pooh, Tiger, Mary Poppins, Alice & Mad Hatter. The food was so so. Nothing special. Their omelet station was nice but the sausage repeated on me all day and I usually have an iron clad stomach. No foods out of the ordinary just normal breakfast fare but the food was filling and service was good.

Our stay at the GF was FANTASTIC. I alway thought this hotel would be a been there, done that like we felt about the Poly but we absolutely loved the GF. The service and CM's were fantastic. The rooms were bright and charming. You could not just stand there for a second looking confused without a CM asking if they could assist you. They sent my daughter a white chocolate mickey with a plate of cookies for her bithday with a B-day card from Aurora. She was thrilled. The buses were quick and easy which was the one thing we were worried about.

When we first checked in they were going to put us in Sago. Back of the building. I was afraid it would be the loud, unwanted room facing the conference center.(does anyone remember that room number). so I asked for a different building. They said everything was booked solid but they had 2 different CM's work their magic to find us another room. We were given a room at Big Pine on the second floor which had the pull out couch. Unfortunately the balcony railing was solid because it was right above the entrance roof line but to the left of the balcony was a pool view and the right was a lagoon view. The room was clean and beautiful. Housekeeping was great. Only 2 nights with turndown service, but for other than the chocolate, I don't really like it.

I have to say we are now HOOKED on the GF and I don't think we could stay anywhere else and I wish we were still there!

Glad to hear you enjoyed the GF. I'm there in 9 days for the first time! Stayed Poly for the first time in Feb., and I'm curious as to which one I will like better...

MickeyMaz,

I was just looking at my Gingerbread House photos from 2 years ago and getting excited about our GF trip next month. Thanks for posting your pics, especially the ones of them assembling it!

The one thing the pics do not do is apss on the smell of the lobby. That spice smell makes me want to scream Merry christmas. Not sure if I remember this from last year, but they had smoke coming out of the Chimmney once it was done.

Well those pictures blew my diet:lmao: :lmao:

Is the entire house edible or do they use inedible parts too? Those window panes look real in the pic.

I too am waiting for Channing :rotfl:
We are eating both a breakfast and a dinner at 1900! What can I say, my kids love characters :wizard:

Mickeymaz you can actually see the smoke from the chimney on the gingerbread house...it's the finished picture. We have to look real close to see...but it's there!

Thanks for posting.:)

It is wood and glass framed and Gingerbread 'glued' on. Not sure if they ever do sell peices of the house to eat. There were samples as they were building. Chocolate coated bottom on pieces of gingerbread. Yum.

We loaded up with gingerbread when we left. There was even a Pin Signing on Tuesday with the Chef in charge of the house. We missed it by " " that much.

They do sell "shingles" similar to the ones on the house. They are gingerbread with a chocolate dipped bottom just as MickeyMaz described. They are delicious!:santa:

Those shingles are so yummy! :thumbsup2 And I loved the pfeffernusse they sell. I got hooked on the "free" ones in the concierge. ;) Now I buy some every year at home, but it's not the same at the GF. :sad1: We're going to try to make homemade ones for Christmas.

What is pfeffernusse?

I check your son's thread for updates and I hope he is having a better day today and that his pain has lessened! He gets to eat today right?
Keeping him and you and your family in my thoughts and prayers!:grouphug:

Thanks for the prayers. Rees did get to eat popsicles this morning, and I just ordered jello.

The pfeffernusse a traditional German cookie. They are little round brown cookies that taste similar to Gingerbread (but spicier as the recipe has pepper in it) and have either an all-over white glaze or chocolate glaze on the bottom. They are very different tasting, and my DH didn't like them. They had them in SL Concierge when we were there in Dec 05. I also saw them at the GF Gingerbread house for sale in little bags.

Denise, so glad your son is better! I too have been reading and keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.

I love those cookies too - DS's and DH don't like them at all - which is fine with me!

Thanks. Today is Day 14 of the hospital (with two, 3 day breaks in the middle). I am ready to leave and have him feeling better. We're really hoping we get to go home by Thanksgiving at the latest.

I give you so much credit for doing what you are doing (not that you have a choice I know, but you seem to be handling it so well) I hope you are home for Thanksgiving and I have a feeling you will be!:grouphug:
Let us know how the home made what-ch-ma-call-it cookies come out! Maybe, I'll give them a try too...:scared1:

We are making a special trip to see the GF this trip - having brunch at the GFC for DH's birthday...Do you think I could order a cake from their bakery at breakfast? I called to check, but haven't heard back yet.

I was reading "another post" about how mousekeeping has gone down hill in recent years. I was wondering if any one here has had trouble with the room not being cleaned? I guess I am a bit of a neat freak but I hate complaining when something isn't done right. Should I bring my own cleaners and mops with me?:rotfl: :rotfl:

Seriously, any bad experiences with mousekeeping?

I have only had one issue at the YC in March with my room not being the way I wanted it. They actually left the trash in a pile in my room! I didnt complain but the next day it was back to normal. This past trip at GF, mousekeeping was great! I had no complaints at all but I have to say the best mousekeeping I have received has always been at BWI. I mean sooo good. They even went out of the way to line up my shoes that we just leave in a pile in the closet!!! I was very impressed there!
